Dr. Skoumal was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa where he participated as an Eagle Scout with BSA and swam on the high school team before heading to California for his undergraduate and dental degrees. After graduating from the University of the Pacific Dental School in San Francisco, Dr. Skoumal worked in southern New Mexico until deciding to return to the Midwest to be closer to his family. He is an active member of the Chicago Dental Society and regularly attends the DuPage County Study Club meetings to advance his skills. His practice philosophy focuses on providing precise, high quality care with special attention on patient comfort.
Diane grew up in nearby Downers Grove. She began her dental career as an assistant. She quickly became passionate about dentistry and went to further her education in dental hygiene. In 2005, Diane graduated from Southern Illinois University with her Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene. Diane has been a hygienist in our office since 2006. Over the years Diane has enjoyed developing relationships with our patients and helping them achieve optimal oral health.
Pam has been working at the office for over 30 years; initially starting as a dental assistant before moving to the front desk. There she enjoys working with the patients and helping with all of their insurance needs. She loves to spend her free time with her family and friends when she is not traveling.
Maria has been working in the dental field for over two years now and has been working for Dr. Skoumal since July 2019. With experience in orthodontics and pediatric dentistry, she enjoys working with people and loves what she does. In her spare time, Maria likes watching movies with her son and going to museums.

I had many dentists throughout the years, all of them telling me to remove my top wisdom teeth. I didn't trust any of them to do that and kept them for a bit. I went to Dr. Skoumal for cleaning and annual check. He was so gentle, that my gums didn't hurt a bit and were not bleeding at all, unlike it happend in the other places! And I go to get cleaning every 6 months. I trusted him enough, to get my teeth out and one filling. And I don't regret a bit. He is outstanding at his job, jis techniques are unbelivable, extremely skilled dentist. I have to add an update. Dr. Skoumal removed both of my top wisdom teeth and made the process uneblivably smooth. I had 3 dentists and one orthodontist in the past, all claiming I will need a surgery to remove them, only dental surgeon would be able to do that, because of the positiong and placement. So I was postponing extractions for years. Dr. Skoumal pulled them out like it was nothing and the healing process was extremely quick and totally painless. I am so glad I decided to trust Dr. Skoumal and his skills.

Very nice staff, Amanda was great, explained everything she was doing! The Dr was wonderful, very nice, and felt very much at ease... I'm a big chicken when it comes to going to the Dentist But it was great!!!!

Dr Skoumal is great! He is very knowledgeable and a friendly guy. He shows you all of the areas that he's concerned about on your x-rays which is great. He doesn't under treat or overtreat and I really like that.

Dr. Skoumal is easygoing and his office seems quite professional and the staff are friendly! He is extremely knowledgeable about all sorts of dental questions and is well informed on all the latest research, which is so helpful.

Don't get me wrong, Dr. Skoumal is a very knowledgeable and detail-oriented dentist, but my visit in this office was not so good. He is subtly rude and does not have the best bedside manner. He gave off weird/bad vibes to me. His tone of voice was rude, where he was making snarky comments (e.g. getting slightly annoyed when telling me to open/move my mouth a certain way), he was heavy handed with my some of my teeth and hitting my teeth with some of his tools, he is impersonal where during both visits that I've been to that office, he barely made eye contact with me and sneakily talks to me from behind my chair and talks to me from sitting at his seat behind my chair, and he is judgmental. He was giving me unsolicited advice about getting orthodontic treatment, basically trying to imply my teeth need to be fixed. I am never coming back to this dentist again. Never been to a dentist with them acting this way. Unacceptable.

Dr. Jim is a kind and caring dentist. He is thorough and on time. His staff is great. His location is easy to find, on Summit just South of Roosevelt. Building has elevator and large parking lot. I'm always happy to go there.

Dr Skoumal is amazing and very detailed. No pain whatsoever and he doesn't rush the services, he takes his time and is very effective. Will be recommending my family to this practice given my experience with just 1 appt. I also wanted to add that this office has the best staff as well!
