Dr. Kochevar has been practicing in the South Jordan, Utah area since 2007. After earning his Bachelor of Science in human biology at BYU, he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Washington in 2005. He also holds a masters degree in endodontics and participates in continuing education classes annually. He is a member of the American Dental Association and the American Association of Endodontists. He also spent five years as an adjunct professor at the University of Utah. As a dentist, Dr. Kochevar wants to provide the best care possible to his patients and alleviate their pain. He and his wife Erin have two children, Connor and Mackenna. In his free time, Dr. Kochevar enjoys hiking and gardening.
Michelle has been with Kochevar Endodontics since 2010. She became a certified dental assistant in 2011, and is a graduate of Salt Lake Community College. She always brings a happy and positive attitude with her to work every day to help our patients feel comfortable and have a good experience. She appreciates the fact that we are a small family at our office. Michelle is married to her high school sweetheart and they have two children.
Bailee has been a part of Kochevar Endodontics since 2018. She is currently studying at the University of Utah where she is majoring in psychology and criminology. In the near future she plans on earning a PhD. In clinical psychology. She loves her co-workers and brings a positive attitude with her to the office every day. Bailee comes from a very close family and in her spare time she looks forward to fitness activities along with hiking, boating and being outdoors.
Seattle is one of our amazing dental assistants and has been with our practice November of 2019. She completed the practical dental assisting program of UT and is currently at SLCC and transferring to the U. She enjoys the small, family-like dynamic of our office and brings a positive attitude while she assists patients and answers their questions to the best of her ability. Seattle is the oldest of nine kids and her family has two dogs. When not at the office, you can find her boating, attending concerts and spending time with her family!
Paige joined the Kochevar Endodontics team in 2019 and is studying dental hygiene. Paige is very outgoing and works hard to take care of our patients. She enjoys learning about dentistry and being a part of such a fun office! When she is not at work she likes spending time with her boyfriend, playing tennis and playing with her puppy, Archie.
Your tooth is made up of three layers. The enamel which is the part you can see protects the dentin, which is the layer below and the innermost part of your tooth is known as the pulp. The pulp contains the nerves, blood vessels and other tissues that are vital to keeping your tooth healthy. If you develop a cavity, or a crack in your tooth, no matter how small, you risk an infection in the pulp. How do you know you might need a root canal? The most obvious symptom may be a toothache or pain in that area of your mouth. You may also experience sensitivity to hot or cold foods along with swelling or tenderness. If left untreated, the infection may develop into an abscess as the it begins to spread and affect the surrounding teeth and even the jawbone. This infection will create a buildup of pus which will result in pressure and increased pain. During a root canal, Dr. Kochevar will numb the area around your tooth. Once you are comfortable, he will access the pulp cavity and remove the infected pulp and the nerve. Dr. Kochevar will clean and sterilize the area and slightly enlarge it and then seal the cavity. After replacing the pulp with a medicated material, Dr. Kochevar will seal the tooth from the outside and may schedule you for a follow-up visit. Your regular dentist may want to discuss placing a crown on your tooth to protect it.
It is extremely important that you follow instructions given to you by the endodontist. You should take any medications, especially any antibiotics as directed. If you experience continued pain, swelling, nausea or chills, please contact us right away.

I just had my first experience here and it was great, all the staff are incredibly nice as well as Dr. Kochevar, and he was very courteous in explaining my x-rays and solutions to other problems.

I had the most wonderful experience with Dr. Kochevar! He was so kind and gentle and professional. I have had three root canals by different doctors and this was by far the best experience I've had. I'm so thankful to him and his staff for putting me out of my misery lol! I would highly recommend him to anyone I know!

Had to here do my own dentist not being able to figure out why my root canal didn't take away my pain. Dr kochevar was able to see me right away and discovered I had 5 canals instead of the normal 3 in my tooth which is very rare. He was able to do the root canal in a painless and timely manner. Very professional and outgoing. Made me feel like I had been there numerous times and knew me personally. I would go back in a heartbeat and will not go to anyone else if I need work done. Office staff was very nice and professional as well. Thanks Dr Kochevar

I have now had several procedures completed by Dr. Kochevar and I can honestly say I will never go to another Endodontist and I have been to several over the past 20 years! I was terrified that he doesn't use gas, but he creates such a positive, caring, and professional atmosphere that I didn't feel like I needed it. I also respected his reasons for not using it! I had a tooth that was extraordinarily ruined and he has fixed it and I am so grateful to him! His staff is equally is caring, friendly, and patient.

I had a root canal done almost 2 months ago and it was hands down the best dental experience I've ever had. I have severe dental anxiety and usually can't leave a cleaning without crying (pathetic I know, I'm grown woman!) so I was extremely anxious regarding having my first root canal. When scheduling my appointment I let the front desk know of my serious anxiety and she made me feel like it was no big deal at all (which I loved) and wrote me a prescription to take prior to my appointment. The day of my appointment I came in feeling super great :) I voiced that one of my biggest fears is that it takes a lot for my mouth to get numb and dentists never believe me and always start working on my mouth not believing me... only to be met with excruciating pain and needing more numbing shots. Dr. Kochevar was the best and listened to my concern. He waited patiently for the numbing to set it, gently tested my mouth before starting and I still wasn't numb so he numbed again until I wasn't feeling anything. I don't think I can convey enough how much I appreciated that him and his assistant (sorry I don't know her name, but she was awesome) listened to me and were so patient. I didn't at all feel like he was rushing the dental work like I feel at dentists offices. I am telling you I could get a root canal everyday from Dr. Kochevar...and that is saying something because I HATE everything about the dentist. It was so so so amazing and better yet, no tears were to be had! Everyone from the front desk staff, to the assistants to Dr. Kochevar are quality people. I just wish he could be my regular dentist.

Dr. Kochevar is the best! We refer patients to him all time (I work in a general dentist office), but I had never experienced his work myself. Just took my mom in and was super impressed! Super down to Earth, joked around the entire time. I am very picky about people I will go to and let my family go to, he will be the Dr. I recommend from now on. My mom was terrified, she hasn't had a good experience getting root canals done, and ended up laughing the entire time (without laughing gas). I cannot express enough what a superb job he did, from my professional point of view and that of a family member. He was professional and did very good work. He has found the balance between professional and fun, and mastered it. This office is amazing, they are happy to work with you and offer great payment plans. Don't go anywhere else if you can help it!

I had an emergency and they took a look at me immediately. Turns out my tooth is cracked and needs to be pulled, which my dentist can do today and get me out of pain. Thank you!
