Dr. Vandewater is a lifelong resident of the Greater St. Louis Metropolitan area. He received his undergraduate degrees in biology and chemistry from St. Louis University while working at St. Louis University medical school. Dr. Vandewater received his D.M.D. (Doctor of Dental Medicine) from Washington University School of Dental Medicine. He spent five years as a practicing dentist in Illinois before opening his private dental practice in Ellisville in 1991 to serve the residents of west St. Louis County.
Dr. Vandewater continued his dental education at the prestigious Dawson Academy to further his knowledge about how the joint, muscles, and teeth function in harmony with one another. Dr. Vandewater follows best practices to ensure that your treatment plan is exactly what you need to restore or maintain a healthy bite, teeth and gums.

Dr. Vandewater is a member of the American Dental Association, Missouri Dental Association, Greater St. Louis Dental Society, and the Missouri Valley Study Club. He also serves as an advisory to the St. Louis County Special School District.
Joyce has been part of Dr. Vandewaters team since 1999. In 2017, she retired from dental hygiene to begin a new career path as office manager. She works closely with patients to help them understand their insurance benefits and answer any account and scheduling related questions. Joyce and her husband Tony love spending time with friends, family and their young grandson, Myles.
Vicki is a Registered Dental Hygienist on Dr. Vandewaters comprehensive dental treatment team, and has worked with Dr. Vandewater in the St. Louis Area for over 25 years. She has been a dental hygienist since 1986. Vicki helps to educate patients about the importance of quality comprehensive dentistry. She lives in Wildwood with her husband and has three grown children. Aside from hygiene, she loves to cook and sew.
Dr. Vandewaters Dental Chairside Assistant, Jennifer, has over 20+ years of experience assisting dentists. She has spent the last 18 years working closely with Dr. Vandewaters Ellisville dentistry team to help provide quality preventative dentistry, general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, and minimally invasive dentistry services to his patients. She lives in the West County area.
Sophia is the newest member of Dr. Vandewaters team. She joined us in May of 2018 as a dental assistant. She works alongside Dr. Vandewater as he treats patients, as well as in his dental laboratory. In her free time she enjoys traveling with friends and visiting her family in her hometown of Springfield Missouri.
LaToya is a Native of Dayton Ohio, where she has been practicing Dental Hygiene since 2008. She Joined Dr. Vandewaters practice in 2017. She strives to provide the best patient care possible while making patients feel comfortable and at ease in the dental chair. She lives in St. Charles with her husband Jamarri and aside from dental hygiene she loves to travel and spend time with her family.

A friend of mine referred Dr. Vandewater to me. I had a painful tooth and the pain was increasing. My first impression of the dental office was the kindness of the staff. They scheduled me as soon as possible for an appointment. Jenn smiled and preceded to take a few X-rays before meeting Dr. Vandewater. Dr. Vandewater was very kind and gentle when examining my teeth. Withing minutes I was relaxed and Dr. Vandewater was able to find the problem with my tooth. He was very gentle with the drill and I couldn't believe how lucky I was to be referred to his office. He is very knowledgeable and patient. I am a retired health care worker and liive in University City. I highly recommend Dr. Vandewater's office!

Our family has been proudly receiving our dental care from Dr. Jay for 30 years. 2021 is the 30th anniversary of his practice here in the West county area. Being an otherwise healthy person, it is frustrating to have so many issues in my mouth - a temperamental front tooth implant, stubborn periodontal disease and chronic night grinding for starters. I have had more than a dozen dentists due to military moves and can honestly say Dr. Jay Vandewater is by far the best! He is professional, up on all the latest technology and treatments, knowledgable far beyond the average general dentist, and yet he is able to explain complex matters in a way that I can easily understand. He has patiently worked with me and I now have a handle on all of my dental issues. His office staff are all highly skilled and always cheerful and friendly. I can count on being seen promptly and have been 100% satisfied with the treatment I have received over the last 11 years. I can't recommend Dr. Jay Vandewater highly enough!

We're greeted with such warmth and care since I made the first call to make an appointment for my son. When we arrived for the appointment, my son especially felt very welcomed by Dr. Jay and his assistant. Dr. Jay was genuinely caring while being very professional. He asked important questions and he listened intently. My son was quite relaxed the entire time he's on the chair. As a mother of a child with serious teeth problems, I appreciated Dr. Jay taking time to understand the whole situation and explained as much and as honestly he could based on his knowledge to make sure I know what's involved. He took such interest in my son's case that he did extra research and sent me an email with useful resources that he thought I should be aware of. My son and I look forward to seeing him again for treatments.

Oh my goodness! I just left Dr. Vandewater's office on a Saturday! He and Jenn came in on their day off to take care of my painful tooth. They made the entire process actually fun--no kidding! Their upbeat personalities are contagious and made me much less fearful. He explained everything to expect and carefully went through the after-care instructions. I cannot believe what a simple process it was to extract my back molar--I was dreading this. I can't recommend Dr. Vandewater and Jenn enough--they're awesome!

Dr. Jay VandeWater Ellisville, Mo Dr. Jay is a wonderful dentist. He has taken care of my family for cleanings, fillings, root canals and crowns. He worked patiently with me through occlusion, braces and bonding. Together with his friendly staff, he makes going to the dentist a comfortable experience. He explains thoroughly, so there is never any confusion about his plans for treatment. I appreciate how he stays current on oral health issues.
