Dr. Ahuja received his BS in Mechanical Engineering and completed his Master in Mechanical Engineering from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia in 1990. Thereafter, he continued his PhD in Aerospace engineering also at Old Dominion University in 1995. While working towards his PhD, Dr. Ahuja worked as an engineer at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. Dr. Ahuja worked in the Hypersonic Computational Fluid Dynamics and Combustion division of NASA Langley Research center. His dedication to quality of work earned him the most prestigious award given jointly by NASA Langley and Virginia Academy of Science for the best Research in the field of a new conceptual aircraft called Oblique Detonation Wave Engine. Working with the most elite and the brightest scientists from all over the world at NASA Langley research center, Dr. Ahuja gained an insight into what quality of work means.
Dr. Ahuja made the decision to transition from engineering to dental medicine and joined Virginia Commonwealth School of Dentistry in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Ahuja obtained his DDS degree from VCU school of dentistry in 2000. Thereafter, Dr. Ahuja worked as a general dentist in Richmond, Virginia and Raleigh, North Carolina before purchasing his own practice in Charlotte, North Carolina in March 2002.
Dr. Ahuja is licensed to practice dentistry in the state of North Carolina and Virginia. The quality and rigorous training he received in elite institutions like NASA LANGLEY has set the bar for quality of work very high for him. He has applied the same dedication and focus on excellence as a dentist. His extensive engineering background combined with extensive training and continuing education in dentistry has made him deliver the best dentistry for his patients. He has received extensive continuing education training that involved hands on training with the elite cosmetic dentistry NASH institute. As an extension of his diverse academic and professional background, Dr. Ahuja has an eye for details and delivers nothing less than perfection to his patients. He is methodical in his specific use of the very best dental materials and the labs for the dental prosthesis which he delivers to his patients. Every dental procedure performed by him has a perfection and sound engineering background to support. He believes that this sound approach can reduce or eliminate the weak link in the failure of dental procedures. He is never satisfied until his patients are completely satisfied. Taking a holistic care of his patients, he listens to their problems and gives all possible options for treatment. With full transparency, he educates his patients while working on their mouth by explaining to them every step of the procedure.

The Dr. Is great. I had a root canal and I didn't feel a thing. He made me feel comfortable. It was also great that he was able to see me on a Saturday.

Dr Jay is absolutely wonderful! I called him determined to have my tooth pulled as I had been quoted over $1800 to have it fixed from another dentist office. Dr Jay took the time to listen to my concerns and suggested that he could repair the tooth for much less, and he delivered on his promise! Dr Jay saw me on a Saturday and then a Sunday to finish the procedure, meaning I didn't have to miss time at work! He was considerate, informative and all around pleasant to deal with. I have already scheduled my regular cleaning and will continue to see Dr Jay as the first regular, primary dentist I have had in many years!

I found Dr Jay's office after being in 5 days of excruciating pain with no real help. Luckily he fit me in on a busy Sunday! When does that happen? He diagnosed the problem and explained the repair involved, and even said why my current medication was not helping. He worked fast, he was thorough and very accommodating to my specific situation. Following treatment, everything subsided exactly as he said it would, and I became pain free. Finally I could sleep again. Now my tooth is fixed better than it was before. I can't say enough good things about Dr Jay, the hero!

I cannot say enough about Dr. Jay. He took me in as a walk-in on a Saturday afternoon after no one else in town could see me. I need an emergency root canal and I was in dire pain. My face was swollen I was hurting bad. After an initial exam, he quickly wrote me a prescription for antibiotics and sent me off to get them. My appointment was scheduled for an hour later. Having had rather bad dental experiences in the past, I expressed to Dr. Jay that I was in fact terrified of the upcoming procedure. He calmly and wonderfully explained the entire process to me, reassuring me the entire time the pain would be very minimal. Then he got to work. After maybe an hour, the damaged decaying nerves were removed, pain free. He talked me through my antibiotic procedure and we scheduled an appointment to finish the crown for 2 weeks later. He even helped me with the bill because I lacked dental insurance. This man and his practice where a saving grace to me in a time of dire need. I cannot recommend him enough to anyone. I will be using him for every dental service I have while living in Charlotte. Thank you Dr. Jay you are a blessing.

Dr. Jay is absolutely the MVD (Most Valuable Dentist) in Charlotte! I had an emergency and contacted several other dental offices and even went into one paying $120 to be seen with no solution being given. Called Dr. Jay and he got me in and solved my issue for a fraction of the cost. High quality, professional, knowledgeable, and affordable! What more can you ask for...oh yeah and he works on the weekends! 5 Stars

Dr. Jay is amazing. He goes out of his way to be there for his patients. He has come in on Thanksgiving day to help me out when my front tooth broke. He is always so kind and helpful. I broke a previous repair from my childhood that amounts to half my top front tooth on Sat afternoon Dec. 11. I called every dentist I could find, one of whom considered it to so non emergent they offered me an appoint January 26!!! Dr. Jay came to the rescue and saw me within hours, fixed my tooth in 45 mins and was a joy to work with. I can't recommend him enough.

Very dirty place. They didn't clean it all. Dust was on the equipments and doc has no bedside manners!!! I had a crown on an implant few years back. Friday night my crown came off. Saturday morning i went online and looked for dentist who can fix it. I found dr jay ahuja. There were couple of slots available for saturday evening, so booked one. Then decided to call them just to confirm, the lady who picked up the phone was very rude. She was like why i booked the appointment online, i need to call and book it(why do you have online appointments availability at first, don't keep it available, so that it will waste anyone time). Then over call i told her the problem, and she mentioned she will check with doc and call me. Got call from doc with in few mins, and he asked me few questions about the crown which came off. I gave him all details and got an appointment from 3PM. At 1:15 PM we got call from doc, that they have some cancellations and if i can come asap(who does that???) We left our work in between, and decided to go asap. It was 45 mins drive just to visit the doc. Upon reaching there, that rude lady asked us to fill the forms and we did. We gave her all insurance information, but she wanted to have full SSN number. None of any other doc ever asked me for full SSN number if i have given full insurance details. When i told her i don't want to share my SSN, she was so rude with me(why can't you give SSN, everyone shares, don't know what's your issue and blah blah). We ignored her and i went inside to see the doc. He saw my crown( few details inside the crown was not same as i gave him on phone). So, he started pointing at me that i didn't gave him right information. First of all I'm not a dentist, how can i understand the insides of crown(that if it has any cement or not) Then i asked him if he can fix it, he was like this crown will go on an implant, i will put it back but it can come back tomorrow also, i can't take any guarantee. I told him i want to discuss with my boyfriend(who was outside). He was like "take your crown go outside i have another patient". He was very rude with us, and we drove for 45mins one way and he was behaving like we wasted his precious time, by not telling the specifications of inside of crown, over the call. It was just little cement which he could have just cleaned(confirmed with my actual doc in india who did the implant and crown initially). But again I'm not a dentist, so it's not fair to expect 100% correct information that how does a crown look like from inside and then behave as if we wasted his time. So we decided to leave and not get it fix from him.

Dr. Jay is the best! I got a toothache the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I toughed it out Thanksgiving Day and started looking for a dentist that was open on Black Friday. No luck! I spent all Friday night I tears. On Saturday morning I was determined to find some relief. I googled emergency dentist and Dr. Jay popped up. I called and he got me in immediately. The entire experience was so much better than I could have ever expected. I needed an emergency root canal. He explained everything to me so that I could understand exactly what he was going to do. He took his time with me, talked to me during the procedure so I knew what was going on. I would recommend him to anyone!! I will definitely be back to see him.

Dr Jay. Is Truly a dedicated, professional whom shows great compassion in his work and treatment of his patients. I Called Dr Jay the day after Christmas to be seem. He got me in that same day, and he had no assistant at that time due to the holidays. My mouth was so badly infected that had to have a root canal done, and 4 other teeth extracted. This was done on a very early sunday, way earlier than his normal business hours. I have never enjoyed go to the dentist the first experience with the dentist was not a good one back when I was younger. Dr. Jay is the best and I would recommend Dr. Jay anyone who needs a dentist. Thank You Dr. Jay you have a patient for life in me. My confidence in a dentist have been restored today.

We had a great experience with Dr. Jay Ahuja!! My son had been to another dentist and was told he needed a root canal. This was a Friday morning. That dentist scheduled him for the following Wed. with someone else because he was already full. By Saturday night my son was in severe pain and we knew he would not make it to Wed. I found Dr. Jay Ahuja on line and sent a message. He responded quickly and said yes he was open on Sunday. He too was full, but he said if we were willing to come in at 7AM he would look at him and do the root canal. We were there at 7AM! Thank goodness, because by Sunday morning my son's tooth had abscessed and the infection was aggressive. Dr. Jay started the root canal that morning! Dr. Jay Ahuja was a life saver!! On top of all this my son, who is a freshman in college, was in the middle of his first semester exams. He never would have made it through his exams if Dr. Jay hadn't been willing to fit us in!
