Dr. Thomas H. Shirley graduated from The University of California, San Fransico in 1976. Prior to studying at Dental School, he attended the University of California, Davis. Dr. Shirley has been practicing in DeRidder for over 25 years, and has been in his current location for 15 years. Since he began practicing dentistry, Dr. Shirley has kept up to date on many continuing educational classes, ensuring that his patients receive the most comprehensive and advanced dental care.
'Dr. James' T. Shirley graduated from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry. Prior to studying at Dental School, he attended Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge and DeRidder High School. Since he began practicing dentistry, Dr. James has kept up to date on many continuing educational classes, ensuring that his patients receive the most comprehensive and advanced dental care. Dr. James is also a member of the American Orthodontic Society, American Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the Louisiana Academy of General Dentistry.

For patients who require major work, we are affliated with CareCredit, who can design a complete payment plant with an appropriate payment schedule. Forms of payment accepted by the office are check, cash, or any major credit card.

Terrible place. Had an appointment for my daughter. Called prior to being late to see what my time time frame would be was told 10-15 minutes. Get there 10 minutes late and was told they couldn't see her bc they were running behind. So, I asked why didn't they just say that if I was late they could have rescheduled over the phone. They rude anyway. Gladly I found a better dentist.

HORRIBLE! my 14 yr old was told her teeth are not that bad and all the dental work needed to prepare her for her braces can be done in 1 visit. the day of her treatment was on a Monday. I called in bc i was deathly sick and later that day I found out it was covid. She was rude and short with me and told me because ive rescheduled 2 many times I have to find someone else to treat my children. mind you, this was only my second time to reschedule the first i had just had my baby. She said mam even though it is a Monday u could have called to cancel by vm. Your text message simply says there will be a 35$ charge if u dont give a 24hr notice. My baby is on medicaid and our dental options are slim. My husband even tried to call and talk to the office manager very disappointed.

I very recently posted a review regarding this dental office. When I called I asked about Covid 19 protocol and I believe there was a misunderatanding/ miscommunication on both parties. I just got off the phone with one of their receptionist and things were cleared up. I am very thankful for that call back because cases in Louisiana are on an uptick and I want to keep my child safe. I was willing to pay out of pocket for a oral exam and x rays at a place that protects themselves as well as their patients. Now that I know they have high regards for safety and precautions I rescind my recent review.

Rude staff, since my front tooth is chipped I had the chip filled . I was eating and the fill came off the front tooth. People have to eat food to survive ya know and the filling came off the front tooth so I had to have it redone. Got a bill in the mail since they are "out of network" for tricare now because they didn't like the fees and have to pay it since insurance covers 1 per year even though the filling lasted 5 months. I do not recommend this office for dental work!

I went here as a child and my children now go here. This isn't my real name, I've found that with giving honest reviews, it's better to not use your real name. Anyway, they're amazing here, absolutely amazing. They were when I was a kid and still are with my children! The whole entire staff is great. We have a child that is special needs and they have never once been impatient with him, never have gotten aggravated with him or anything of the sort. They've treated us with the upmost respect and been very informative with their dental care being top notch. Despite the mixed reviews, I ask you to read between the lines because they truly are a great place, being one of the only places on DeRidder aside from Dental Plus.. they simply can't please everyone! And that's all I'm going to say.

Horrible experience. They quoted me a price and then after they were done with the procedure, they told me it was 100$ more than it was supposed to be. At first when the dentist told me the price she seemed unsure and said she thinks it will be free, then I asked for her to make sure, because I wanted to be positive that I would be able to afford the procedure. After the female dentist checked, she tells me yeah it will be free. Once it was finished she informed me that they no longer take my insurance, making me pay 100$ .They also were very rough while doing the procedure and didn't numb me all the way, when I informed them that I wasn't numbed all the way and it hurt to the point where I was crying, the dentist told me he was almost done and continued to drill in my mouth. I will never go back here, truly disappointed

He fixed my chipped tooth. I was very happy about his work.. Staff is friendly and the doctor experienced and professional. I just wish the yearly dental cleaning was a little better but beside that I definitely recommend his office.

Do not go here! By far the worst experience I've ever had. My daughter and I went in for a cleaning. The receptionist doesn't greet us and gave another woman paperwork to fill out that was meant for me. Then we go to the back and the one hygienist had no idea how to take X-rays or floss teeth!!! I wish I was kidding. The cleaning was not thorough at all. I've had many cleanings and they take at a minimum 30-45 minutes. This took less than 5 minutes. The dentist comes in, I'm assuming since he never introduced himself, to check my daughters teeth, mumbles something and then checks mine. Doesn't explain anything to me about her tooth and let's his unprofessional and inexperienced hygienist take us to the receptionist to schedule another appointment. I asked about the procedure and she had absolutely no idea but the receptionist told us we could just wait for her baby tooth to come out on it's own even though it's decayed. Seriously, go somewhere else.

Very impressed. I was more nervous than my son was about his 1st cavity, but the staff was so awesome & outgoing towards him during his appointments made me ease my mind. The Dr. filled it quickly & we'll return for regularly cleanings, myself included.

Very friendly staff they also work quickly. I don't like going to dentist., but I was comfortable. Dr Shirley very nice and thorough.
