Vickey Woods grew up in Tucker, Georgia. She has worked for Kennedy Family Dental since 1974. Vickey knows most of our patients by name, and is an integral part of the practice. She started working as a Dental Assistant to Dr. James P. Kennedy and transitioned to her current position as Office Manager. Vickey is married to her husband Charles, and they have two grown children, Amanda and Blake. She enjoys vacationing at the beach and spending time with her three grandchildren.
Kathy Cornwell grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated from Dental Hygiene School at Clayton State in 1984. She has been with Kennedy Family Dental since 1985. Kathy is married to her husband Mark, and her 2 children Jordan and Amanda. Kathy loves exercising and spending time in her garden.
Born and raised in Atlanta GA, Dr. Ryan Kennedy attended St. Pius High School and University of Georgia. Dr. Ryan has been involved with his father's practice dating back to high school. During those years he got to know the patients by working as a dental assistant. Ryan was determined to be a dentist and return to treat the people of Decatur. In 2011, he completed his lifelong dream of becoming a dentist at Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.
Dr. Ryan Kennedy and his wife, Shannon, were married in May of 2010. He is an avid outdoorsman and spends most of his free time fishing, camping, and kayaking around Georgia. Dr. Kennedy specializes in restorative dentistry with an emphasis on esthetics.
Dr. James Kennedy received is dental degree from Emory University School of Dentistry in 1970. He then joined the US Air Force and served in Vietnam. Upon his return from Southeast Asia he practiced in a Decatur general dental office and shortly thereafter took over the practice. He has been practicing on North Decatur Rd. for over forty years and now lives in Druid Hills. He has three grown children in the area. His youngest son, Ryan, graduated from dental school and has joined him in his practice. Dr. Kennedy is a life member of national, local and state dental associations and has had scientific articles published in the Journal of the Academy of General Dentistry and the Journal of the Georgia Dental Association. After playing recreational tennis for years Dr. Kennedy has found there is life after tennis and devotes most of his spare time to working on his rural property near Elberton Ga. In addition to hunting and fishing on Lake Russell, he is a beekeeper and avid gardener. His hobby vineyard produces Norton grapes and some excellent wine is produced. This property and its log cabin allows his close-knit family to enjoy each other's company.

Wonderful family business, good service, maintaining schedule spacing and no/low wait times in order to allow for social distancing. Back office is impeccable, knowledgeable and can help figure out expenses with insurance in advance of procedures.

I have been a patient of Dr. James Kennedy's since 1985. His son, Dr. Ryan Kennedy owns the practice now. The staff are professional and friendly, they don't push unnecessary work, and I have always been happy with the quality of the dental work. I haven't lived in the area for eight years, but I still make the drive to Kennedy Family Dental.

Went for a cleaning, was told they didn't have "time" to polish my teeth. I had to go back a second time to get my teeth polished. Another time I had some decay so he didn't even numb my mouth, he just went in my mouth and started drilling superficially put the "filling" in and that was that. Have had problems with that tooth since. It's really sensitive. Also had a bite guard done. As soon as I put it in, 1 week later one of my veneers, which had been fine for over a decade, broke. These dentists seriously don't know what they are doing! Will never go back!

Been visiting here for years since a friend recommended then and they are great. I moved 30 miles away a few years ago and still make the drive over because they are so good and personable.

Let me 1st say that I am VERY particular when it comes to Dentists. I have been with this practice for over 14 years now and HIGHLY recommend it. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. The hours are great and they will do their very best to get you in if you have an emergency. They continue to exceed my expectations!

After moving to the area and having a loose filling, I asked around about an Atlanta dentist and looked at reviews on line. I really liked the number of positive reviews I found on this Decatur dental practice. The Kennedy Dental office was able to schedule an appointment the next week and took care of the filling. Dr. Ryan is courteous and proficient, and has an excellent manner. I also met his father who has been practicing at this location for decades. I don't know anyone that looks forward to going to the dentist, but I really enjoyed meeting them and received excellent care.
