Dr. James Murray Orthodontist

846 Main St # B, Sanford, ME 04073

When I chose to become an orthodontist, I was drawn to the fact that Id be able to develop personal connections with my patients. I look forward to getting to know my patients and hearing about the happenings in their lives. As orthodontic care takes place over several years, and I see patients about once every six weeks, we have time to build a strong relationship. For me, helping people I genuinely care about develop a smile that will serve them well for a lifetime, is extremely rewarding.

I care for my patients in the way I would want my own family members to be treated. The field of orthodontics is in my blood, but having a positive, lasting impact in someones life is really what drew me to the profession. The most satisfying aspect of my work is witnessing the growth in each persons self-esteem and confidence as their smile changes and improves.

Continuing education is essential for me to provide my patients with the best orthodontic care. I attended many conferences and lectures throughout the year. This ensures Im current with the latest developments, skills, and technologies. Im one of the few dentists in Maine who is certified by the American Board of Orthodontics.

My wife Sarah and I have three children: Will, Henry, and Caitrin. It has long been my goal to come back to the area where I grew up, raise my family, and contribute to and serve the community where I was raised. Its good to be home.

SSWe recognize that all of our patients are unique and deserve to receive orthodontic care that reflects their individual needs. Our experienced and talented team is committed to working with you and your family to create a comfortable, stress-free, and rewarding orthodontic experience every time you visit our practice. We are pleased to welcome you and your family, and we look forward to working with you.

Meet Shirley, our financial and scheduling coordinator. She is the friendly voice you hear on the phone and the first face you see when arriving at our office. She joined the practice in 2017 and comes with 14 years of clinical experience. Shirley is excited to 'hang up her scrubs' and take on this new administrative role.

When she is not working she spends most of her time with her husband Allen and their two teenage boys, Jack and Joshua. As a family, they love camping, hiking, going to amusement parks and traveling as much as they can during the (too short) summer season. Shirley is a huge football fan! Sundays in the fall are spent with family and friends watching football, GO PATS!!!

Erica joined Murray Orthodonics in 2017. She has been in the dental field for over 10 years. She is a mother of two boys, Michael andEthan. She has lived in Buxton,Maine for most of her life. When she is not working, she enjoys shopping, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Abby works in the Lab at Murray Orthodonticsmaking retainers and trimming study models. She hasbeen happily making retainers since 2012 and especially enjoys the creative color combinations chosen by the patients at Murray Orthodontics! With a degree in Art from Gordon College, Abby also loves painting, drawing, crocheting, jewelry making and is in the process of taking stained glass classes.Abby resides in North Yarmouth with her husband (Dustin) along with their two dogs (Mr. Hawkins and Stormy) and their cat (Louis Fitzgerald). Abby and her husband enjoy taking their dogs for walks and savoring Maine's ever fleeting summer.

For most people, achieving a healthy, beautiful smile is the reason for receiving orthodontic care. If you're self-conscious about your smile, correcting your concerns with braces will greatly improve the way you look and feel.

When your treatment is complete, you will have the smile you've always dreamed of and the confidence to show it off! We also want you to feel comfortable and confident throughout your entire orthodontic experience, and our practice is dedicated to making sure that you receive the quality care you deserve.

Orthodontic appliances are made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. They may be removable or they may be brackets bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to the proper position.

Gone are the days when a metal band with a bracket was placed around each tooth. You can now choose clear or metal brackets and, in some cases, the color of your appliance. Wires are far less noticeable, and the latest materials are designed to move teeth faster with more comfort. Today, any age is a great age to wear braces!

Treatment time varies and can last between one and three years, depending on several factors including age, treatment method, and how minor or severe your case is. A big factor in a successful treatment is you! The more involved and diligent you are, the more efficient your treatment will be. For children, receiving interceptive or early treatment can also help provide a quicker treatment time.
