Dr. Komendera graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy Dental School in 1973, following a Bachelor's degree in 1970 from the same university. He has practiced general dentistry in Lake Orion since 1974. His current affiliations include the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association and the Oakland County Dental Association.

His current affiliations include the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, and the Oakland County Dental Association. He is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, a designation which requires 500 hours of postgraduate education. Many of these hours included orthodontics (braces), endodontics (root canals) and implants, which he provides for his patients.
He currently practices in his new 3,400 sq. ft. office which has been designed to treat patients efficiently and comfortably. Dr. Komendera and his wife, Jane, have resided in Rochester since 1976. They have two married daughters, Amy and Candace, and 5 grandkids.
His undergraduate years were spent at Michigan State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology. He also graduated from Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine in Glendale, Arizona with a Doctorate of Medicine in Dentistry (D.M.D.)
He is an active American Dental Association and Michigan Dental Association member. Dr. A.J. can perform procedures including but not limited to endodontics, periodontics, and prosthodontics as well as design and deliver cosmetic veneers and crowns for patients. He is currently working on continuing education in the field of implant dentistry.
He first wanted to get into the field of dentistry when he had his best friends father, who was a practicing dentist at the time, came into his high school on career day. They discussed the advances dentistry has gone through in the past 30 years and about being a part of a career that changes self-esteem, body image, and therefore, lives.
