Dr. J.J. Beckel graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a captain in the Dental Corp for 2 years at Offutt A.F.B
During and after his Air Force Tour of Duty he taught at Creighton University Dental School for 3 years. He opened his own private practice in San Antonio, Texas and continued teaching at the University of Texas Health and Science Center for 10 years.
Dr. Beckel has been selected by his peers in Texas Monthly and San Antonio Scene Magazine as a Super Dentist. Dr. Beckel continues his education in advancement in dentistry, keeping informed of new and latest procedures and equipment available.
He is married to Mary Jo Houlihan Beckel and has 3 sons all married and living in San Antonio, Tx. Dr. Beckel enjoys golf, hunting, fishing, and all sports especially Little Leagues with his grandchildren.
I have been in the dental field for 30 years, and I am happy to say that out of 30 years I have been with Dr. Beckel for 20 years. I don't think you could find anyone more caring and who truely loves what they do. Then there is my wonderful staff which I love and appreciate each one of them.
I was born in San Antonio, but I grew up in Boerne. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 34 years. We have one fun loving son, and the most adoarable granddaughter. I love fishing, hunting and spending time with my family and friends.
I have been with Dr. Beckel since 1985. I started as his assistant, then finished the Dental Hygiene program at UTHSC in 1997. I enjoy cleaning teeth and educating patients on good dental hygiene habits. I enjoy my work and find it very fulfilling. I am happily married and have two extraordinary children. When I'm not cleaning teeth I enjoy baking, scrap booking and spending time with my family.
