Dr. McDonald was born and raised in Billings MT, where his father practiced dentistry for close to 40 years. He graduated from Billings Central in 1999 and enrolled in Gonzaga University, completing his degree in biology in 2003. From there, he moved to Omaha NE to attend Creighton University School of Dentistry. In May 2007 he graduated with his doctorate of dental sciences degree and moved back to Billings.
Dr. McDonald is married to his lovely wife Halley. They have two children, Eva and Mallory. Dr. McDonald has been very involved in the community, including belonging to the West End Rotary Club and serving on the ZooMontana Board of Directors. In 2012 he was selected as the first dentist to be part of the Billings Gazettes 40 under 40. He enjoys golfing with his wife, cooking, and a good glass of wine.

Dr. McDonald is very accommodating, and great with kids and adults. Very knowledgeable, and I would recommend everyone to Dr. Ian McDonald at Benchmark Dental. They are the best

Exactly the opposite of the stereotypical nightmarish dental visit. A completely professional but warm and friendly experience. I am a very sceptical person expecting the worst of everyone however Dr. McDonald is not only very talented but also very genuine and caring.
