Dr. Howard Goodkin grew up in Wayne, NJ. He graduated from Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pa. with a BA. in history in 1981. Dr. Goodkin attended UMDNJ (University of Medicine & Dentistry of NJ, now known as Rutgers,) where he received his DMD degree in 1985. He then completed a two year mini-residency program at Albert Einstein for periodontal therapy and surgery. He also completed several years of intensive implant training at Vizstara, a world renowned implant and restorative dentistry center, headed by Dr. Nicolas Elian in Englewood Cliffs, NJ. Dr. Goodkin is a member of Spear, one of the most elite dental study clubs for cosmetic and restorative dentistry. In addition to taking well over 100 hours of continuing education each year, Dr. Goodkin is a member of the ADA, NJDA and Tri-County Dental Society. Most recently, Dr. Goodkin became a Fellow of ICOI, International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
Dr. Goodkin realizes that just walking into a dental office can be stressful for many people. Committing to cosmetic, restorative or implant dentistry can be overwhelming physically, emotionally, and monetarily. Dr. Goodkin feels it is extremely important to create a relaxed, friendly, positive office setting where each and every patient is treated respectfully and kindly; where you are totally free to express your feelings and needs which are heard and honored. His goal is not only to give you a beautiful smile, but for you to leave with a smile on your face.
On a personal note, Dr. Goodkin married his childhood sweetheart, Jill, and together they have three wonderful children, Joshua, Rachel & Marissa as well as two awesome son-in-laws, Noah and Dan, a precious grandson, Landon, and our Golden Retriever, Sophie. When Dr. Goodkin is not performing dentistry, he enjoys fishing, hiking, cooking, reading, being with friends and family and most of all, spending quality time with his wife and children.
Jarred is a native to Long Valley, but is now settled in beautiful Sussex County. He and his wife Kara of 10+ years, have 3 wonderful boys that are always keeping them busy. Without Kara, Jarred would never be able to focus on doing what he loves and for that he is so very thankful.
Dentistry has always had an artistic forefront in Jarreds approach to working with his patients. Whether it is a single filling or a complex aesthetic transformation, he always strives for perfection. Ive always wanted to pursue a career in art; I just didnt always know the artistic path I was going to take. When I made the connection of seeing dentistry as a combination of art and science, I knew what I was destined to do.
Jarred believes in educating his patients and developing a relationship that is based on trust and understanding. He explains exactly what is needed and provides multiple options in order to achieve the patients desired results. He knows that together, they will be able to make the best decisions to restore perfect dental health. Jarred wants to create a level of comfort for all the patients he sees.
Jarred has always had compassion for treating anxious patients. In his residency in 2007 he won the Betty Weinstein Memorial Award for Excellence in Research. The research that he conducted was a clinical trial that examined the effects of music distraction in the treatment of dental anxiety. That same year he was honored to receive the Forth Annual Dr. Mark McIntyre Memorial Award for Clinical Excellence in Dentistry. This award was given to the resident showing outstanding clinical judgement, skill, and professionalism.
Each day that Dr. Pilek is able to work with his hands and create fulfills that artistic drive he craves. He loves seeing a patient smile bigger than they ever have before because of the aesthetic work that was done. However, there is no greater pride than when a smiling 3 year old leaves the operatory after their first filling, or a anxious patient conquers their fear and realizes they can have a great experience.
Jarred knows that there is something special and unique about this office and enjoys coming to work each and every day. When he is not working he enjoys, drawing, working on his house, spending time playing with his family, riding his motorcycle, and of course watching and going to New Jersery Devils games.
Our team of dedicated dental health professionals is here to serve you. We combine extensive knowledge in the field of dentistry with a passion for helping people love their smiles. It is our goal to create a friendly and professional atmosphere that you can rely on for all of your dental needs.
Our dental assistants are all dedicated to our patients care during dental treatments in the operatories. They are highly skilled as well as sensitive and understanding to our patients needs. Hand holding and kind reassurances are commonplace in our practice.
In 1988, not only did Jill & Dr. Goodkin give birth to their second child but Goodkin Family Dentistry, LLC was born! Together, they nurtured the practice growing it from a 2 person practice to the thriving 18 person practice it is today! Together, with our amazingly caring and nurturing staff, weve been blessed to treat thousands of wonderful patients, many of whom have become our dental friends! Jill is always available to discuss your proposed dental treatment in a welcoming environment and together make financial arrangements so you can achieve the smile youve always wanted!

Dr. Falvo is far and away the best dentist I have ever encountered, and I've been treated by far too many bad ones. He resolved many long-standing issues I've lived with for years. He's very personable, compassionate, well-educated, ethical, and skilled. He keeps up on the best science and techniques for the welfare of his patients. If you've had any reticence or hesitancy with dental fear or problems in the past, I highly recommend you go see him.

If I could give this office 6 stars I would. have been going to Dr. Goodkin for 2 years now for cleanings and bonding and have loved my experience. Dr. Goodkin, Dr. Pilek, and staff are very friendly and professional. I would highly reccomend the office to anyone looking for an amazing experience.

Dr. Goodkin, Sandy and the staff are all extremely compassionate, friendly, honest and try to make the entire experience as pleasant as possible. I was a bit concerned to get my teeth cleaned during Covid. This practice has done everything to the highest standards! I felt extremely comfortable being there and was so glad to have my teeth cleaned. I've been going to Dr. Goodkin for over 28 years and highly recommend him to all families! He is awesome with children as well as adults!

Changed dentists at the recommendation of a friend. Updated office, friendly staff, and Covid safe precautions in place. Dr. Pilek is fantastic! After years of not seeing a dentist, I needed multiple fillings. Dr. Pilek took the time to explain what was going on and he had the foresight to plan the dental work over multiple visits for different areas of the mouth, allowing my mouth to recover. Would recommend to anyone!

Receptionist seemed like she was very unhappy to have a job. My fiance, who has been a patient for many years, went in for tooth pain, went to make follow up appointment upon dentists recommendation and receptionist was very unpleasant. Gave her an appointment a month and a half later and then said you can leave now. Very poor people skills. Unfortunate to have someone like that represent an entire office and not even have the most basic people skills. You can find better easily. Might be time for a change.

Neglected to inform that the change of insurance did not cover anything until half way through the appointment. So sad that I've gone here for years for this to be a breaking point.

I was looking for a Dentist change after going to the same person for 20 years - just felt the service and attentiveness had gone away. I was referred to Goodkin & Pilek - I had no idea what i was truly missing until I went on my first appointment. Everything was perfect. The attention to detail was unmatched. Sandy got me all checked in. Ginger took great care of me as my Hygienist and Dr. Pilek made me feel extremely comfortable as a newbie. The Covid protocols they have in place are above and beyond. Adrienne took care of my benefits and went the extra step, explaining everything to me, as well as what was covered by my plan and what I could expect from my visits. Not to mention - the Office is BEAUTIFUL - all clean and newly renovated! I would highly recommend this office to anyone looking for a new Dentist.

I recently went to this practice for a routine checkup. I have been very afraid to go to public places since the pandemic. Ginger was the sweetest person I've ever met in a dentist'a office. Before we even started the procedure she first told me, in detail, the safety measures they had adopted as a result of Covid. Their entire staff is absolutely lovely and I did not wait at all to be seen. I've waited at least 45 minutes at other practices for a routine checkup, but here I was in and out in record time. Highly recommended!
