Dr. Abram Hess and his team of friendly, skilled staff members are ready to serve you! Most of us call Whiteland, Greenwood, or the surrounding area home, and have deep roots in our communities and decades of providing dental care.
In addition to the full-time staff members pictured, you may also meet some of our part-time hygienists or assistants. Even though their hours are more limited, they are still an important part of our dental family and are fully trained to provide the comfortable, competent care you deserve.
Dr. Abram Hess graduated from the IU School of Dentistry in 2016 with a DDS degree. Before going into dentistry, he spent five years as a chemist in pharmaceutical research and development. He made the leap from pharmaceuticals to dentistry to get more interaction with the patients Im helping. Dr. Hess is passionate about treating each patient as an individual with unique health needs and challenges.
While Dr. Hess is a lifelong Hoosier, his passion for helping people has taken him all over the United States and the world. As a dentist, he has served in rural Indiana, urban dental clinics, the jungles of Ecuador, and volunteer-led clinics in Indianapolis. He has also participated in church-led projects in Iowa, Mississippi, West Virginia, and central Africa.
Dr. Abram Hess and his wife, Sara, have three daughters and one infant son. Their life is a chaos of princess dress-up, mud pies, and impromptu ballet performancesat least until little brother is big enough to have a say! If one of the assistants looks a bit young when you visit the office (and isnt allowed to do any actual work), it is probably one of his daughters visiting her daddy at work.
Deb is usually the first face you will see at Dr. Hess Dentistry! As the financial coordinator, she is in charge of checking in patients and handling the financial side of your visit. Give her a call if you have any questions about insurance, payment plans, or scheduling.
Deb was excited to join the team in 2001. Its exciting to be part of a team that works well together and takes such pride and care with each of our patients, she says. She has 16 years experience in the dental field, and has lived in Louisiana and Ohio before settling in Indiana. Shes happily married for over 30 years with two married daughters who have given her the pleasure being grandma to three grandsons. Deb loves to read, cook, garden, and spend time with family and her church. She is a proud season ticket holder for the Colts and enjoys supporting the Pacers as well.
Kathy provides the most fundamental dental service: regular six-month cleanings so your smile stays bright and healthy! She has been a dental hygienist for over 24 years and joined our team in 2019. She graduated from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).
McKenzie just recently started her career and graduated from Franklin Dental Assisting School in 2019. Her mom, who works ina dentists front office, played a big part in McKenzies career choice. McKenzie was always her moms helping hand on school holidays and has seen the dental field from the inside, starting at a young age.
On days out of the office, McKenzie enjoys spending time with friends and family, cooking, enjoying nature, and playing with her pups. She hopes to inspire anyone who is interested in a dental career to pursue their dreams.

I have been going to Dr. Hess for several years now. Been in the area for 13 years and have tried previous dentists. I like Dr. Hess because he doesn't have a fancy office, he gets to the point, and doesn't lecture me about using chewing tobacco. I have been lectured at a previous dentist for about an hour about how I should quit chewing. Yeah, I'm 40, I know it's bad. Also, been to dentists that has state of the art dental chairs and equipment which means you'll be paying for your dental work. I highly recommend Dr. Hess, and.... he is great and makes baloons for the kids!!!

Im urging everyone to read this review before you consider booking an appointment with Dr. Hess. He obviously doesn't know how to run a dentist office but sure does know how to scam people out of their money. My mother saw all the good reviews and decided to book an appointment with Dr. Hess, she went in to get 2 teeth looked at that either needed filled or pulled, depending on his advice and went in for a very SIMPLE denture reline. long story short one of his employees messed up the reline not once, not twice but three times. As she wasn't even competent enough to do a simple impression or even able to scrape the lining out that she messed up. My mother has made multiple appointments with him in the span of 2 weeks and each time nothing was ever resolved and most times, things were messed up even more. Dr. Hess even admitted the denture was messed up but refuses to take accountability. And refuses to even try to fix it. Saying she just needs a new one. But she wouldn't have even needed a new one asap if not for his office messing it up. And he is still requiring payment. For something that can't even be used and that he messed up in the first place. Payment that is way overpriced btw. He was trying to charge hundreds of dollars over what he should have and even the insurance company stopped him and told him he couldn't charge that much. He thinks because he operates in a small town that he can price gouge everyone. I warn you, consider booking an appointment with someone else. There are several places, even just 5 mins up the road in Franklin, that will do every procedure he does, FOR HALF THE COST. The motto that Dr. Hess uses is that he treats everyone like family. Yeah, the family in laws that you hate apparently.

I scheduled an appointment on the phone and sumbited the forum they emailed to me and made sure to ask the person on the phone about root canals they assured me that they did and that they needed to do an examination first and then the day of the operation they told me they could not do the operation I needed and proceeded to tell me I didn't submit the forum I filled out (when I very well did do just that) I took a day off work for this and got nothing out of it but a slap in the face truly the worst experience i have ever had scheduling anything in my life.

Extremely down-to-earth and helpful staff. They treat you just like family. Dr. Hess is very knowledgeable, helpful, and very detailed. In and out with no long wait. Highly recommend!

The staff was friendly but my temporary crowns kept falling out. I had to deal with 6 temporary crowns that would not stay in for 3 weeks. I eventually gave up and just stopped trying with the temporaries and went with the bare posts. Now that I have the permanent teeth, I love them, but it was really rough waiting without temporary teeth that would stay in. I am happy with the new teeth and Dr. Hess and his staff are all very nice.

This is our second time coming. I bring my whole family for periodical check up, clean up and dental work. Dr Hess is friendly and his staff is professional and caring. Deb is the lady at the checkout area and it is a pleasure to deal with her. Thanks for the work that you guys have done for us.
