Dr. Atashbar grew up in Tehran, Iran, and attended high school in Spain. In the mid-'90s, she moved to the States to pursue her academic goals. Although she began her studies with the intention of becoming a medical doctor, she soon decided dentistry was an optimum career choice.
'As dentists today, we have such a unique opportunity to change not only people's health, but their image,' she says. 'No country in the world is as advanced in dentistry as the United States, where a healthy smile is a sign of overall health. Here, dentistry is as much an art as it is a science.'
Dr. Atashbar worked as an associate for nearly six years before opening her own practice in Silver Spring, Maryland. Fluent in Farsi, she has increasingly drawn a diverse array of patients from many cultures.

Office is clean and staff is kind and professional. HOWEVER, they are not transparent at all. Dr. Atashbar told me that a perfectly good silver filling has to be removed. How do I know? I got a second opinion. I went to another Dentist and he looked at it for a minute and said it's perfectly fine. Now, I don't doubt her skills as a dentist she probably would have done a good job but it so dishonest. Be open!! Give me all the options and let me decide!! I can't imagine how many people didn't get a second opinion and went through with the procedure. There are also other procedures that they throw into a regular cleaning that are unnecessary. The point is that she's a good dentist but a terrible dishonest and unethical business woman. Stay Away!!

I went to Dr. Atashbar for a year, and had three visits. Dr. Atashbar was great, both personal and professional. Also the main desk staff person was a joy to talk and work with. Very wonderful people. I give them 3 stars because I was told I "needed" several procedures totaling 4 additional visits and $2,400 (cost before insurance) that weren't necessary. Because of the cost and that my previous dentist 4 months earlier said I had no issues I decided to wait on it. I had 2 cleanings done and moved out of state before we could do the additional dental work. My new dentist also told me I had no additional issues and required no other work besides a cleaning. TL/DR : I loved Dr. Atashbar, but if she recommends additional work get a second opinion.
