As a practicing orthodontist for the past23 years, my inspiration came from my dad, Dr. Guy A. Favaloro. Following in his footsteps, I watched his satisfaction from taking an imperfect set of teeth and making a beautiful smile.

I dont think theres a greater pleasure than watching a patient grin from ear to ear as they take pride in a new smile. One of the most thrilling aspects of my career is with my teenage patients who become more confident as their teeth improve. I have seen a quiet, shy child with crooked teeth turn into a confident, smiling young adult after treatment is complete. What could be better than this? I enjoy the interaction I have with these adolescents as I help them achieve the corrections they deserve. It is the same with my adult patients, enjoying the joint venture of helping them improve their sense of self, especially when I see those beaming smiles when their braces come off.

After graduating from high school, I went to Texas Christian University where I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. I then went on to earn a Doctorate of Dental Surgery from LSU School of Dentistry, where I also completed my residency in orthodontics.

The required amount of continuing education per year is 20 hours and I typically do 30 to 40. The majority of my continuing education is clinical, which focuses on general dentistry so that I can better communicate with the general dentist on treatment options. As a part-time orthodontic faculty member, I am exposed on a weekly basis to the newest treatment methods, which keeps me front and center with what is current in the field.

In addition to volunteering at the New Orleans Dental Conference to help provide quality continuing education in the dental field, I am also a part-time orthodontic faculty instructor at the LSU School of Dentistry Orthodontic Department. This ensures that I am up to date on the latest developments in the field, while training the next generation of orthodontists.

I grew up in Kenner, LA with my two brothers. Later on I married my wife, Kim, and we have been together for 30 years with two wonderful children. Our son, Jeff, graduated Samford University and our daughter, Kathryn recently graduated from Texas Christian University. As an avid tennis player, I am in two tennis leagues. I am also active in my church and participate on the church softball team. Iretired from the Air Force Reserves as a Colonel, where I enjoyed 21 years of service, with the last four as a Medical Squadron Commander.

After practicing orthodontics for over 40 years, it has been my pleasure and passion to create beautiful smiles for all of my patients. Watching the change in their personalities as their appearances improve is as exciting to me as it is to them, and I am proud of the quality results that help make their confidence bloom. I retired from active practice in December of 2015.

I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. I went to high school in Houston, Texas, graduating in 1956. It was during my high school years that I became inspired to study dentistry due to an extremely motivating orthodontist who worked on me as a teenager.

From high school I went on to the University of Houston where I began pre-dental studies. From 1959 to 1963 I went to Loyola Dental School in New Orleans where I earned my Doctorate of Dental Studies. After graduation, I joined the US Army and was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii. After 5 years of military service, I left the army and entered private practice in LaPlace, LA. In 1972, I was accepted into the LSU Dental School Orthodontic Department in New Orleans. After graduation, I opened my private practice and also began as a part-time faculty member in the LSU Orthodontic Department. In 2009, I retired from LSU as a Clinical Professor in Orthodontics.

I was married my beautiful wife, Jean Holt Favaloro, in 1962 until her death in August of 2014. Together we have three amazing sons and 7 grandchildren. Added to my wonderful family are our two dogs, Gracy and Baxter. I officially retired from active practice in December of 2015. My hobbies include working in the yard and reading.

Amanda joined our team in June of 2017 and has over 5 years in the dental field. She would have you think that she has been with us forever. Amanda loves interacting with our patients like they are family. This makes our uneasy patients feel relaxed and excited about their treatment. Her friendly personality will have you feeling right at home!

Alisa rejoined our team in March of 2019. You may remember that she previously worked for Dr. Guy from 2011-2014. Since she's been back, it seems like she never left. Alisa has transitioned right back in to the flow of the office. She loves her job and seeing the transformation of pretty smiles.
