I went to get a back molar filled. Dr Haviland said it would be "fast and easy" while he was talking about costumes for Halloween with his assistants. When injecting the numbing agent I flinched and only the assistant noticed and asked if I was okay. Dr Haviland made a joke and moved on with the filling. Fast forward 6 hours and my face is still numb, but also staring to swell. It took 2 days for the numbness to go away and my face looked like I had gotten punched. The swelling and bruising lasted a week and a half. The fillings I got from this office are not as nice as previous dentists. They are flat and recently one chipped, my new dentist telling me that there was a decent amount of extra filling material and that was what was broken. They fixed it along with some removal of the extra and my mouth feels more comfortable when I bite down. I learned my lesson here. The assistants are super sweet and receptionists as well but dental work itself is not the best. Could be worse, but could be better.

I switched dentists after getting my braces removed as a teenager and have been coming to Dr. Haviland since (6+ yrs.) The office and front bathroom are very clean and the rooms themselves are simple and bright thanks to the nice windows the building has. I have never had an issue with the quality of care or service here and really enjoy Dr. Haviland's upbeat attitude. He will make you laugh at least once during your visit and tries his best to answer any and all questions. I've been seen by two or three different dental hygienists and they've all been great. Amy for example has cleaned my teeth the last two times I've been and she was incredibly knowledgeable, empathetic, and charismatic (shes my favorite dental hygienist!) I strongly recommend this practice and have personally recommend them to everyone I know in search/in need of dental care/services. A big thank-you to Dr. Haviland and Staff for all the incredible work you do!

If you can think freely for yourself and care to make decisions on your own health and well-being, Haviland is not the dental hygienist for you. Staff was wonderful and shocked at how he treated me during the initial appointment. I tried to talk with him to maybe work out what went wrong during the visit but it was a no go from him. I am still in shock and left wondering what went wrong. Guess I am safer not going back to this office ever again.

Usually not bad but this time was horrible and I won't be going back. He always talks to the dental assistant the WHOLE time he is working on my mouth but this time they were so caught up in talking about the tv show they are watching that he ignored I was not numb and felt him drilling in my tooth. After the fact joked about he didn't know if I was laughing or trying to tell him I was in pain.

Dr. Haviland is the most unprofessional dentist I have ever encountered. HE WILL MESS YOUR MOUTH UP. Trust me, I know they might seem nice, but they are horrible. If you are thinking of becoming a new patient, DON'T DO IT.

Great facility and amazing staff! Even my son, who is extremely afraid of the dentist, does great! They go the extra mile for him, knowing he's so nervous. I would recommend to anyone!

Positively the best dentist in the Piedmont area. He and his staff are the kindest and most professional that I have ever known in my 47 years.

Beyond disappointed with the level of professionalism. I originally went into Dr. Havilands office to fix my top front teeth that were heavily decalcified. While in the same exam he pointed out i had 2 small cavaties on my top left molars and 2 on my bottom left molars. I had the top 2 done that day and didnt seem to have an issue. However he was very quick to finish and get up an walk away before even checking my bite to see if the fillings were high.. Turns out later on they were. But before i found that out, i went back a couple weeks later to get my bottom 2 done. After i went home and numbness went away, i had excruciating pain in my jaw and couldnt open it. After icing all day it slowly went down. A couple days later i scheduled another appointment because i was having pain in those teeth when i bit down. They felt like i had an arching bridge in my teeth. Only two teeth could touch. Looking at and feeling these fillings was not right, i felt like he had taken a valley out of my tooth and for no reason. Turns out i was right. The assistant i later saw told me he had been over zealous and took my tooth down too far and created weak spots that were flexing causing me pain. I came in several more times for the same issues and finally after rotating through all of the staff, dr haviland offered to refill my cavaties. Before that however he tried fixing my bite again and literally told me "just taking a stab in the dark" drilling random teeth and taking away natural tooth that was never even worked on. I agreed to the fillings being redone hoping to just be rid of the pain and not having money to go anywhere else. He didnt numb be but 5 seconds before stabbing the needles in which brought me to tears. I went home and my teeth were 10x worse. I could tell before the numbing even went away. He had undone what the assistant originally fixed and put yet another valley in my tooth and took one of them down to the gum line. What a nightmare. This last adjustment made it so that only my back tooth on my left side hit and it hit heavy causing me pain in my jaw. I had a gap between my molars large enough to fit 2 grains of rice unharmed. So i went in again. Now, instead of that one tooth hitting, none of them do. And now my right side hurts. I called them back today and they responded "He's done all he knows how to do." Months of pain. Dental insurance drained. About a dozed of missed work days. And no hope of me ever getting my teeth right ever again. I havent been able to chew on that side at all let alone rest my jaw. Also in the meantime my front six teeth i went in for? Theyre worse now..and cant fix them until my bites correct. And since i spent the money on the other teeth that got messed up, im that much further from them getting fixed and they will develop into a worse and more costly problem.

I typically hate going to the dentist, but the atmosphere is very friendly and laid back. Everyone is very approachable and Dr. Haviland doesn't make me feel like I'm going to finance his next vacation. He is really down to earth and care about my concerns.
