I was born and raised in Chicago, coming from a large family with eight siblings. I attended Mount Carmel High School and Loyola University, graduating in 1978 with a Degree in Biology. I went on to The University of Illinois and graduated in 1982 as a Doctor of Dental Surgery.
Ive been in practice for 34 years, and I am not in competition with anyone, but myself. I love what I do. That passion propels me to do great work. My wife would say I eat and breathe dentistry. There is probably some truth in that. I wake up excited for the day to begin so I can work on my craft. I guess not everyone can say that. I consider dentistry to be challenging, exciting, and artistic.
My proudest moments are when patients that move away from the area for a period of time, come back and tell me that the dentist they saw had said that my dental work was some of the best they have ever seen. Also, there is no greater compliment than to see the children I have worked on in the past, bring their own children to see me.
I am a perfectionist by nature, love to learn, and love a challenge. Those aspects of my personality propel me to keep learning. I never want to be bored or subpar in anything I do. I am more versatile than the majority oof general dentists. I have taken more than 900 continuing education hours to perfect my skills and update myself on new procedures and techniques. I love dentistry, because it allows me to help people in a variety of ways. I have studied extensively to expand my practice of general dentistry to include endodontics, orthodontics, surgery, and implants. If there is something beyond my scope of expertise, I refer my patients. Most of the time, I am skilled enough to be of service to them.
My wife, a registered nurse, helps manage our practice. This brings a more personal touch to our business. We believe that if we are honest, give the best care possible, and are caring and genuine, then both ourselves and our patients are happy and satisfied.
Our office is located in Arlington Heights, IL, and we have been providing dentistry services for more than a decade and have a long list of happy and satisfied clients. Doctor Gilbert Mendez brings ~30+ years of expertise together with a great love of dentistry craftsmanship that shows up in his expertise, depth of knowledge, and work. I've not found anyone like him anywhere else in 63 years. He has deft touch, great at explaining what to expect, kind, and accommodating. He and his wife Kathy are wonderful human beings and it's an honor to be attended by them.

Had been to 2 other dentists in the past, but had heard of Dr. Gilbert X. Mendez, as being a wonderful dentist and the best. This was over 12 yrs ago, sure enough, I went to Dr. Mendez and he is what everyone says. A dentist who is very thorough in explaining the procedure that he will do. Not only do you feel at ease but you leave his dentistry completely satisfied with his work. Truly highly recommend Dr Mendez, a highly qualified and a great dentist !

I have seen Dr Mendez in the past and he was great. Today December 30th I called and spoke with a Lady and explained that I was having a lot of trouble and severe pain. He told me he would give me something for the terrible pain I am experiencing. I am waiting for new insurance to start. Anyway, she told me he called in a prescription for me so I went to get it, but I will not provide and pain relief so I called back and no one answered or has called me back after I explained I was in horrible pain. I have not eaten solid food in 2 days and I have not slept for 2 days. I just wanted some help and I never got it

I have been a client of Dr. Mendez since he was a dentist in Arlington Heights. His teaching of dental health has been a life saver. He treats my kids too. Enjoy his professional and personal touch. He cares and is very service oriented. Not only is he doing dental work he does the hygiene cleaning too. His concern for my dental well being is his top priority.
