Dr. Aylward received his dental degree from the University College, Dublin (Ireland) in 1975. He then practiced for three years in London, England as a general dentist. Dr. Aylward was awarded a full academic scholarship to study orthodontia at Northwestern University Dental School in Chicago in 1979. Following graduation he remained at the school as an instructor for one and half years. He then associated with orthodontists in Chicago, Schaumburg, and Joliet before opening a practice in Illinois. He still maintains a thriving orthodontic practice in Palatine, Illinois.
Dr. Aylward loves the practice of orthodontics and strives to use state of the art technology and techniques so as to make each patients treatment the finest possible, and provide them with quality, comfortable orthodontic care. Dr. Aylward is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists.
In 2011 Dr. Aylward founded the Keep Music Strong Scholarships. These small scholarships are made available annually to students in nearby junior high schools who show special promise in any form of musical expression.
Dr. Aylward is the recipient of the 2009 Oak Park River Forest Infant Welfare Society Community Service Award. This award is given to an individual or agency in the community who has demonstrated commitment to The Childrens Clinic mission and has met the following criteria:
Dr. Smith received her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from The Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1998 where she was inducted into the Gorgas Odonatological Honorary Society. As a recipient of the Colgate Palmolive Annie Elizabeth Bessie Delaney Scholarship Award, she entered the orthodontic residency program at Howard University where she completed her specialty certificate in orthodontics and maxillofacial orthopedics.
Dr. Smith is an accomplished specialist with almost 20 years of dental and orthodontic experience. A strong proponent of life-long learning, she stays current with the latest advancements and technology trends in her field. Dr. Smith holds active memberships in the ADA, ISDS, the American Association of Orthodontists and the Midwestern Society of Orthodontists.
The Chicagoland4Braces Palatine office is located at the corner of North Plum Grove Road and Colfax Street. Our treatment rooms are comfortable and inviting. Relax and be entertained in our waiting room. Dr. Aylward uses the latest orthodontic technology in all of the treatment and x-ray rooms.

Dr. Aylward has been my hero. He did my braces as a teen and I had an injury which required additional work and braces for 6 months in my 20s. Him and his whole team have been so wonderful and informative and working with me every step of the way. This weekend I fell ice skating a broke my two front teeth, he helped with EVERY STEP OF THE WAY, from speaking with the ER docs and helping make arraignments for my aftercare. I cannot recommend and thank him enough for his dedication and help throughout my life. I'd give 100 stars if I could!

Both my kids have gotten braces from Dr. Aylward's office and the experience has been terrific both times. Dr. Aylward is kind and courteous, and his staff is friendly, helpful, and great about communicating!

Dr. Alyward and staff make me feel so welcomed. I am an adult patient and orthodontics is painful at times. So to have a staff who is friendly and kind is very important to me. Dr. A takes good care of my teeth. I am seeing wonderful results. It is worth it.

Dr. Aylward is kind, understanding, and very knowledgeable. He is excellent at what he does, and he does it in the most genuine and kind way. His office staff is excellent and they work really well together as a team. I highly recommend this practice!

Dr. Aylward and his staff are amazing. They are welcoming, kind, professional, and REALLY good at their jobs. We had special scheduling needs, and they bent over backwards to accommodate us. Also, my daughter, who is very nervous with dentists and orthodontists, loves Dr. Aylward. He is incredibly kind and gentle. Last but definitely not least, her teeth look amazing, and her bite is great!

I have now been in this office over 15 times over the past year with my daughter now getting her Braces off. They are always helpful and friendly, literally every time we visit. Smiles all around. I have to also point out that there have a been a couple times when we had to reschedule, it just happens with kids, and they know how to work with you in these situations. Thank you Dr. Aylward, Megan and the rest of the great staff. Keep up the good work. I will recommend you going forward..

They are the best of the best. Accommodating, kind, caring and treat you like family. They all have a gentile touch as well remembering small details about your care and your personal life. They always ask how things are and genuinely care about not only your dental care but you as a person. My son and I both have braces at the same time and we are able to come together in one shot take care of both appointment. They are amazing, I would never go to or recommend any one else.
