Orthodontics is not just my profession; it is a huge part of my life. The ability to help so many wonderful people achieve their goal of attaining a healthy and beautiful smile is an incredible source of energy and inspiration. Artist by nature and scientist by education, I chose to become an orthodontist because of my passion for helping people change and improve their lives. I strongly believe that a beautiful smile plays a part in ones success. Every smile that I treat is an opportunity to make a positive impact on someones life. As I help my patients, they help me as well. I meet many fantastic people every day who help me grow and enrich my life.
Education and Continuing Education I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Case Western Reserve University, as well as my Doctorate of Dental Surgery. I attended the State University of New York at Buffalo where I earned my Master of Science degree and Certificate of Proficiency in Orthodontics. I was awarded the Pierre Fouchard Award, the Teledyne Waterpik Award in Prosthodontics, the American Academy of Dental Practice Administration Award, and the Academy of General Dentistry Award. I am actively involved in a number of local dental and orthodontic study groups and attend numerous continued education courses to stay abreast of current techniques and developments.
As Marketing Coordinator, Cheryl promotes Dr. Gens office to the community, schools, and businesses in the local area. Although Cheryl does not work with patients directly, she loves to watch their transformation as they progress through treatment! She loves working with Dr. Gen because of the way he handles each patients case with professionalism, respect, and sensitivity. Cheryl has been happily married to her husband, Bob, for over 20 years, and they have three very active boys together! She is an avid runner and biker, and she loves to do anything physical. Cheryl also enjoys travelling and shopping, and spending time with her family!
Cristen works as a Clinical Assistant. She graduated from dental assisting school and has always had a particular interest in orthodontics. Cristen really enjoys working with the team at Dr. Gen Orthodontics, and especially with Dr. Gen! When Cristen is away from work, she enjoys spending time with her family, making handmade soaps with her mom, and selling them at local craft shows.

My husband and I are so happy we chose Dr. Gen Orthodontics and his team to take care of our children's dental needs. Everyone is professional and helpful. They work very hard, and we are grateful for it.

The only good thing I can say about this practice is that we are so glad and relieved to be finally done with treatment. Wouldn't bother to bring any of my other children to Dr. Gen especially now that we know how professional, courteous, respectful and on time other practices are!

Excellent team! Customer centered philosophy and they are experts in the field of orthodontics! Dr. Gen and team deliver on their promise of that gorgeous smile! I was almost sad to near the completion of my oldest daughter's treatment plan, then I remembered that daughter #2 will now begin her journey to that picture perfect smile! Love them, and oh, their offices are pretty cool!

When I was young I had a severe cavity resulting in a molar extraction, and since then I had started noticing an every so increasing gap between my front teeth. Initially, I was the only one who noticed, but after a few years more and more family and friends had started to notice it too. I went to my dentist, and he had recommended I consider braces. I'm entering my mid 20s... lets just say I was not enthusiastic... at first. In a twist of good fortune, he had referred me to Dr. Gen's office, and let me just say my experience so far has been phenomenal. If you haven't heard yet, Dr. Gen is a perfectionist. My first day in we reviewed imaging together and he gave me a thoughtful and comprehensive opinion of my situation. I was quoted for a 10-16 month course of comprehensive braces, and after hammering down some red tape, the staff was quick to get me started the following week. And let me just say, the staff under his practice are authentic, well mannered, structured, and know how to get a smile out of you. They help me practice exercises to stop thrusting my tongue against my teeth. Walked thought how to put on rubber bands. And heck, they even laughed at my bad jokes. On those days where you have a "braces emergency" ie: a broken bracket, or for me (frequent because I have a missing tooth.) pokie wires they'll get you in asap. The office in general is responsive to messaging and will even text you a live reminders on appointments or concerns during your treatment. In summary, I truly believe Dr. Gen's Practice strives for the best clinical outcomes and ergo a 10/10 in my book. If you commit to consistently following instructions, they will help you achieve the most authentic smile tailored custom for you.
