Dr. Fred Ou-Yang graduated from Loma Linda University, School of Dentistry (Southern CA) in 2000. Prior to dental school, he attended UCLA and majored in Biochemistry for his undergraduate studies. Dr. Ou-Yang has been practicing dentistry for 10 years. Prior to starting his private practice in Newark, Dr. Ou-Yang has worked in different dental clinics in Palm Springs and Hayward. Dr. Ou-Yang received numerous scholarship and awards during his educational years: including the National Science Foundation Scholarship while in UCLA, Dean's list and the California Dental Foundation Scholarship in dental school. He graduated in the top 10% of his dental school class. Dr. Ou-Yang's passion is providing the highest quality dentistry to his patients in a caring and compassionate manner. He is a perfectionist who strives to constantly improve his clinical skills through continuing education classes in the California Dental Association meetings and whenever he can. He has taken numerous cosmetic, implant, and invisalign classes. Many patients have come to appreciate his dental artistry, compassionate care, and have referred their friends and family members to his care. Look under Smile Gallery to see examples of Dr. Ou-Yang's dental art. Dr. Ou-Yang is an active member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and Alameda Dental Society. Dr. Ou-Yang enjoys hiking, exercising, serving in his church, and helping the needy in local communities, such as the Open Door Mission in Oakland.
Dinah is our office manager. She has been in the dental field for 20 years and she is very knowledgeable about dentistry. You will find her friendly, caring, and helpful with your visit. She takes pride in helping patients to understand complicated insurance questions and strive to make their visit as comfortable as possible. After our dentist of 25 years retired, we have tried a few others but none of them met our expectations. After extensive research, we finally found 5-star rated Dr. Ou-Yang! We waited a free weeks to get the appointments but the wonderful experience made us feel the waiting all worthwhile. Dr. Ou-Yang was very courteous, respectful and perhaps more importantly very skillful. We feel so lucky to have a dentist in our community we can totally trust! By the way, since Dr. Ou-Yang is in very much demand and has a busy schedule, you'd better call to make an appointment sooner rather than later.

Dr. Ou-Yang took over the office from the previous dentist we went to which we really liked. This was quite a few years ago. He made us very comfortable and is just as good as our previous dentist. One incident that happened characterizes Dr. Ou-Yang's commitment and attention to his patients. My daughter fell down and hit her teeth. It was a weekend and the office was closed. However, we called his cell and he came all the way down from his house just to check her out. There was never a question about whether we could wait until another day or office hours. Dr. Ou-Yang stays up to date on the newest technology and he takes the time to explain what is going on and what is the proposed treatment. He also connects with us and develops the relationship for the long term. There has been a bad review I read and I think it was just a misunderstanding as it doesn't fit the experience that we have had with him for at least 10 years now. A relationship with your dentist is very important and one that people seek out and rely and trust. From our long experience with Dr. Ou-Yang he is worth developing that relationship with and he really does care about your dental needs for the long run.

Dr. Fred Ou-Yang has been my doctor for at least 10 years. I have been very happy with his services, very thorough and detail. Before going to him, I was switching dentist every year or very other year. But now I am done searching. If you are looking for a dentist, I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Ou Yang has been my dentist for over 6 years. All these years I have been very satisfied with his services. He listens to my needs and always provides recommendations on how I can better take care of my teeth. He is also very thorough and patient.

1/22/2019 i came to the Dr. Ou-Yang by recommendation from a friend, i had several issues due to a bad experience. i feel so lucky that finally i found an excellent local Doctor who is an experienced professional who has worked with my budget and prioritized my needs by the severity of issues to fit with my insurance. this is my third year and i have never felt better in years.he has very gentle touch and friendly but professional demeanor. i have brought my whole family to his practice.

Our experience with Dr. Ou-Yang has been remarkable. My 9 years old son and I drove all the way from Orinda to Newark to see Dr. Ou-Yang because he is wonderful! When we arrived at Dr. Ou-Yang's office, I was pleased to see the clean office, the office staff was indeed friendly and welcoming. My son was at first very nervous. Dr. Ou-Yang is great with kids! He built trust with my son and totally eased his anxiety. Dr. Ou-Yang gave us very honest opinions and was clearly not out to maximize profit or provide any service that wasn't needed. He is professional and patient, he explained all the details to us clearly. When the procedure began he was constantly making sure my son was comfortable and wasn't in pain. He was gentle and highly efficient. At the end everything that was done was explained very well and what needed to happen next. Dr. Ou-Yang did a very good job. My son recovered quickly. He can eat well, run and jump a few hours later. I also had a root canal and crown done with Dr. Ou-Yang myself and it was painless. I highly recommend Dr. Ou-Yang.

My husband, my mother-in-law and I have been going to Dr. Ou-yang for more than 7 years. He has been professional, patient, honest, caring and accommodating. Ever since I am under his care, there has never been any major issues with my teeth except routine check-up and cleaning. He also gives great advice on how to better take care of my teeth. Even though we have to travel for almost an hour to get to his office, I am very satisfied with his service and will not want to change to any other dentist that is closer to my home. I highly recommend Dr. Ou-yang to anyone who is looking for a dentist.

Dentist was late. Would not directly answer any question, he would buffer with "I will explain to you." Before looking at my teeth was already trying to get me to get a bite guard. Asked me to leave without doing the scheduled cleaning
