Dr. Fred Alger received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Wooster, where he majored in biology and minored in chemistry. Dr. Alger received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Ohio State University. He also received his post-doctorate degree and specialty training in Periodontics at Ohio State.
During his three-year residency in the graduate periodontics program at Ohio State, Dr. Alger conducted clinical research on the regeneration of periodontally diseased teeth. The results of this research were published in the Journal of Periodontology and accepted for presentation at the Midwest Society of Periodontology in Chicago. Dr. Alger received the first place award from the organization, for this research on periodontal regeneration. You are in the best of hands with Dr. Alger. In 1994, he became a Diplomate (Board Certified) American Academy of Periodontology. He received his second certification in 2020 and became a Diplomate (Board Certified) American Academy of Periodontology and Dental Implants.
In addition to maintaining a full-time private practice as a periodontist, Dr. Alger also teaches at the Ohio State University College of Dentistry one day a week. He has taught at the university for over 20 years.
Dr. Alger enjoys sharing his knowledge and practical experience with his students. It is his belief, however, that he receives more than he contributes as a clinical professor at the College of Dentistry. Being a teacher has also allowed Dr. Alger to continue learning, and has helped him to be a better clinician.
Dr. Alger believes that his most significant accomplishment is raising two fine boys with his wife of over 25 years. He also enjoys a good book, a good work out, high school wrestling matches, watching Buckeyes football with his friends and family, tailgating with family at Browns games and fishing. Dr. Alger also finds that the rigors of Tae Kwon Do and mixed martial arts classes are a good way to keep healthy and unwind.
Dr. Alger spends much of his free time with church activities. For over ten years, he has helped lead a middle school youth group at his church. He originally became involved with the youth group when his own boys were in middle school. He continued with his involvement because it is his belief that he was making a positive difference. This youth ministry has been a significant part of Dr. Algers life.
I am fortunate to work with a Doctor and clinical staff that are extremely skilled and caring. I am confident in their ability to restore our patients mouths back to health. My role is to see that insurance and financial concerns dont become an obstacle that would keep our patients from achieving the treatment that they deserve.
I love my job because I get to help my patients gain confidence in their smiles while educating them on the importance of oral hygiene. I really appreciate Dr. Algers expertise in periodontics and value his approach to treating our patients.

Dr. Fred Alger and his office do such a great job. They make you feel comfortable, reassure you, and help you through the surgeries (especially if you are someone like me that gets super nervous for any mouth stuff). My experiences (2 surgeries) have been excellent and I'm thankful for them!

This entire Office from the office staff, all the way up has done everything phenomenally for 9 yrs. Won't go anywhere else. They are all Family to me I love each and everyone and hold them all close to my heart. They will always take care of my Teeth. Dr. Alger is the BEST Ever.

I was back to see Dr Alger after 14 years for another implant consultation this morning and I didn't think he or his staff could get any nicer...but they did. It was nice to see familiar faces and speaks a lot about the environment there. They were very kind and helpful. I feel like I am in good hands going forward with the proceedure.

I have been going to Dr Agler for almost 4 years upon the strong recommendation from Dr Fojas, my family dentist. Dr Agler did my three tooth implant and the first two were complicated because of the thinning of the bone in the left maxillary area and the sinus is very close. He takes time to get other experts opinion although he is an expert himself. In the end it is for the benefit of the patient. The abutment did hold and it is a success. The third one was seamless and he showed me how he avoided that big nerve that runs across the left mandibular area. I saw the xray and the abutment is in perfect alignment in relation to other teeth. He did all this with the help of modern 3 D Technology. The staff did an excellent job in deep cleaning and are so competent that they took xrays once without having to repeat it. The front desk are always respectful and nice to the patients. I wish I had found him earlier and he could have dome my first implant 10 years ago. He did some repair on my first implant (done by other dentist) because of poor aesthetic. I highly recommend Dr Agler who is an excellent dentist to anybody and you can not go wrong with him. It is based on my experience. Dr Agler who has a delicate touch is gentle and soft spoken who can make you comfortable. Thank you Dr Agler.

First time patient with Dr. Alger and his long-time staff which alone, speaks to this amazing practice. Everyone was welcoming and explained all procedures, costs, and expectations thoroughly. As for the actual surgical procedure, Dr. Alger was very gentle. Recovery has been as expected (soreness, swelling) managed with appropriate medications.
