Dr. Farah N. Khan, DDS - General dentist in Canton, MI

My love for kids started at a young age working in bible camps, my church and continued to grow throughout college and with the birth of my nephew, Cash. It wasnt until I started working for Dr. Khan at Dr. Farah Khan Pediatric Dentistry that I discovered that pediatrics was my calling. My overall duties consist of the following:

My devotion and passion for kids started at a very young age for me. My entire life I knew I would end up working solely in pediatrics with my love and commitment I have for kids. I have been a nanny since the 7th grade which has prepared me for the understanding, responsibilities, patience and dedication with children. Building relationships with our patients and their families are something we devote ourselves to doing. I am very fortunate to be part of Dr. Farah Khan Pediatric Dentistry team but even more privileged to work for such an amazing pediatric dentist. Dr. Khan strives every day to keep not only her patients smiling but her team as well!My overall duties consist of the following:

My ultimate goal is to help our patients understand the importance of everyday oral hygiene and to make them feel comfortable enough to ask any questions they have regarding their teeth. We like to walk the kids through the steps of every treatment so they understand why that treatment is being done and how it will help their teeth. Their experience is our main priority and we want them leaving with a comfortable, educational and memorable outcome.

My passion for dentistry started when I joined Dr. Khans team at Dr. Farah Khan Pediatric Dentistry. I have worked in customer service the last few years which has prepared me for this position to run the front of our fast paced office and to build relationships with our patients and their families. My overall duties consist of the following:

Dentist rushes thru cleanings and also overcharges customers for services like tooth removal, filling and crowns. We took our kids there and we decided to get a second opinion by another local dentist after this dentist quoted us a price we thought was outrageous for a kids crown or filling. We are so glad we did. Other dentist wanted to charge us 75% less what this dentist tried charging us. Our insurance covered most of the cost when this dentist told us the insurance only covered a small amount. Also did a much more thorough job cleaning my kids teeth then the other dentist ever did. This dentist makes a living off of ripping people off!!!!!

Let me start by saying, this was my favorite dentist. I love the staff and how friendly they are but the Dr herself seems to misdiagnose children frequently. In May, she said my 5 year old had an infection in the back of his mouth and needed the tooth removed but refused to give antibiotics for him. I found it odd so I was looking for a second opinion. It took awhile to get in somewhere but I received an opinion from two other doctors and my son in fact, did NOT have an infection. The point in this review is, always get a second opinion even if you like the Dr. I felt something wasn't right and I'm glad I got it checked. They also use to let me use a credit card for past procedures but all of a sudden wouldn't let me use it for this tooth he "needed removed" but would only allow me to pay cash for this particular procedure. Sounds a bit strange.

I do not recommend this dentist. Yes the staff was very friendly. Usually people that inflate prices for late fees or cancellation fees and doing unnecessary procedures are VERY FRIENDLY while they take your money. I also did not like the medicine that was used during his service, he was extremely high. Furthermore you had no choice but to pay the $230.00 for the medicine she didn't offer any other alternative.

As a first time mom, was worried about a dentist visit with a 16 month old! They did awesome with him and kept it quick. I know parents on here keep saying they didn't take their time ect! I was great it only lasted about 2 minutes! They were quick.. cleaned, flossed and did a fluoride treatment in that 2 minutes for his 6 teeth! DR Khan answered my questions as a first time mom and gave me some info! Can't wait to grow with them

Rushed, apathetic service with build up still there. Cleaning was less than five minutes. My kid's gums are swollen and still hurt. He told the doctor several times that he was in pain and she just kept asking did it tickle. We have been working very hard to keep him up. Even set reminders. I'm not sure how this happened but we are very concerned.

We have taken my 2 sons here for the past few years. While I have never been blown away by the office, I haven't had any issues. We took my son for his cleaning a few weeks ago. He is 4 and was very nervous and upset. He cried and screamed during the visit. Instead of being calm and reassuring towards him, Dr Khan and the entire staff were visibly annoyed with him. They kept scolding him. Dr Khan and the hygienist were loudly arguing during the visit. I had to physically restrain my own son. It was terribly traumatic for both of us. I would never recommend this office to anyone. A pediatric dentist should be kind and reassuring. Dr Khan and her staff are the complete opposite. Dr Khan was unable to complete a cleaning/fluoride or X-rays. However, she told me that my son had 4 cavities and would need to be sedated twice for fillings. She told me my son would have to be restrained during the procedure and would probably "cry" the whole time but he "wouldn't remember most of it." She offered no other alternatives or solutions. She also said he would have to be sedated for cleanings and xrays (and of course sedation is not covered by insurances so I would have to pay out of pocket). We got a second opinion at a different office (who was able to complete a full exam and xrays) and were told that he has NO cavities and NO decay. If you chose to take your kids here, get a second opinion before you sedate them for unnecessary dental work. In addition to all this, the office submitted claims to my insurance company for a cleaning/fluoride treatments and x-rays. None of this was performed. I called the office and they simply said "it was a mistake." If you take your kids here, check your insurance bills to make sure you were not "mistakenly" charged for extra procedures.

My child never even saw the doctor, and after reading all these terrible reviews, I guess it was a blessing!! After sitting in her waiting room for over an hour, we were informed the doctor did not take our insurance and we were sent on our way. Well, about a month later we started getting a bill for $177.00. I assumed it was a mistake since she never saw the dentist. But when I called the office, I was told that the bill was for x-rays that were done. Who does x-rays on patients if you don't accept their insurance??? Anyways, I started getting harrassing phone calls and letters demanding payment. I tried to reason with them, telling them it was their mistake, and they should have checked the insurance before doing any x-rays. But all they did was threaten to ruin my credit rating if I didn't pay. I said if I felt it was just or fair, I would have no problem paying this. I mean really, is your practice so bad you have to "blackmail" patients to pay for bogus charges,or you are going to "ruin" their credit??? Just beware....it's a money grab....these are not people to trust your childrens' teeth or health with. Read all the other nightmare reviews. This doctor is only interested in her pocketbook!!! Update: My brother- who took my daughter to this visit years ago- recently he told me, that my daughter NEVER even had x-rays or any treatment done to her !! And true to their word, they reported it to my credit report. True to my word also- I NEVER PAID THEM!! So KNOW this: They are dishonest lying thieves, and it would be best to stay as far away from these greedy evil people.

Not a good experience with this pediatric dentist: Routing cleaning for my child last about 45 seconds. Cavity treatment on my daughter required Oral sedation which is not covered by insurance. I was asked to pay an out of pocket of about $700 up front which i did. Later on, I noticed the sedation service was not reported to my insurance and I asked that to be reported although not covered. After reviewing the submitted claim, i realized i was been ripped off . The contract rate of sedation with Cigna is far below the $700 i was asked to pay. 30% less). I called them and reported the matter but they had no appetite fixing the issue. I had to ask Cigna to get involved to lecture them and make correction on my billing. After all, Dr Khan and team had no decency of apologizing. I will never take my children there again.

My kid felt scared and finally relieved when it was over.I wonder who goes there..I will highly suggest future patient to stay away from this facility.

The setting of the office is a facade. This woman has no compassion for children and set my son up with a deep fear of the dentist. I wish I would have been able to go back to see that they fully restrained my child before his procedure because he was nervous. I wish I had did better homework before wasting $250 dollars and a life time of fear for my child.

This place does nothing but scam you!! Have been coming here for years along with my siblings and each year my parents and I have noticed the quality go down... The dentist only takes 10 minutes if that to for a routine 6-month cleaning appointment!! If that's not enough, she's never on time! We usually schedule the first appointment in the day and we have to wait for her to get ready and sort everything out. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Last time we visited, we told a crown for my brothers teeth would be covered by insurance, later that day we got a call saying it would be $250?? We replied with a "no thank you" and received a call in minutes saying it is in fact covered by the insurance provider? Mediocre staff, irresponsible service, never coming back.
