Dr. Howard Dixon received his Doctor of Dental Science Degree and Masters in Clinical Dentistry from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI. He founded San Diego Pediatric Dental Group in 1970. Pediatric Dentistry is his passion and he dedicates his time to staying on the forefront of the profession.
Dr. Dixon is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and has held numerous leadership positions in local and statewide dental associations. He actively volunteers with International Health Emissaries to provide quality dental care to less fortunate children worldwide, enjoys book clubs and traveling with his wife, Donna. He is the proud father of 5 children and grandfather of 11 Grandchildren.
Dr. Eric Dixon received his Doctor of Dental Science degree from University of Pacific, San Francisco, CA and completed his pediatric residency at UCLA. He currently serves on California Society of Pediatric Dentistry nominating committee, UCSD Share the Care Dental Advisory Board and is an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UCSD.
In spite of his busy schedule, Dr. Eric makes time to volunteer with International Health Emissaries to provide quality care to less fortunate children worldwide, having completed missions in Cambodia, Guatemala and Peru. When not in the office Dr. Eric spends time with his lovely wife, Dr. Stephanie Dixon, and his two young boys. Together the family enjoys travel, fishing, ocean kayaking, skateboarding and mountain biking.
Dr. Stephanie Dixon received both her Doctor of Dental Science Degree and her Certificate in Pediatric Dental Specialization from UCLA . She is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She and Dr. Eric Dixon are married and enjoy raising their family in San Diego. She loves taking her dog for walks, traveling, and stays fit by being Mom to her two boys.
Dr. Kim Sauer received her Doctor of Dental Science Degree from University of Missouri, Kansas City. She is a Senior Staff member at Rady Childrens Hospital and is proud to have served our country as a Dental Officer in the U.S. Navy. Dr. Sauer has been a part of the Dixon Dental Services family since 1996, and we are honored by her dedication to her patients. Dr. Sauer is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Rachel T. Swimmer is so thankful and excited to be a part of the team here at San Diego Pediatric Dental Group! Dr. Rachel is a board certified pediatric dentist, a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and a member of the local San Diego Association of Pediatric Dentistry, a professional organization dedicated to high quality pediatric oral care through continuing education and outreach. Dr. Rachel wants to bring excitement to oral health and pediatric dentistry by creating relationships of mutual learning, trust, and respect with children and their families.
Dr. Rachel was born in California, but grew up on the completely opposite coast in Flushing, Queens and Long Island, New York. For undergraduate study, she attended Duke University in North Carolina. Dr. Rachel went on to complete her Doctorate of Dental Medicine at Rutgers University School of Dental Medicine in New Jersey and was inducted into the national dental honor society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. Dr. Rachel also completed her specialty training in pediatric dentistry at Rutgers where she served as Chief resident.
Dr. Rachel and her husband feel so blessed to be expecting their first child this summer! In her spare time, Dr. Rachel enjoys spending time with her husband and family, crocheting, reading, and binge-watching television shows!
Dr. Breanne Reids passion is that all children have good oral health and have a good experience and relationship with their dentist. She was motivated by her own experience with her pediatric dentist as a child and adolescent to pursue a career in pediatric dentistry.
Dr. Breanne Reid received a Biology degree from Penn State University in May 2002, where she graduated with the honor of Highest Distinction. In May 2006, she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, University of Maryland. She was then commissioned as an Officer in the United States Navy in June 2006 and went on to received a certificate for Advanced Education in General Dentistry at Naval Medical Center, San Diego in June 2007. She served as a Dental Officer at Marine Corp Air Station, Miramar and at Marine Corp Recruit Depot in San Diego, from June 2007 until June 2010.
Dr. Breanne Reid completed her Pediatric Dentistry residency at the University of California Los Angeles, San Diego CHAT program located at Rady Childrens Hospital in San Diego, CA in July 2012. Breanne was awarded the Pugh Award for her written American Board of Pediatric Dentistry exam score, which was in the top 3% of all candidates taking the exam in 2012. She became a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry in 2014 after successful completion of her oral board examination.
Breanne has been married to Dr. Keith Reid and they are proud parents of their son, Ezra Reid. Breanne and her family are very active and enjoy the outdoors and traveling around the world. She also is a competitive runner, placing first in her age group in multiple marathons and completing the Boston Marathon three times.
Dr. Jacqueline Calcagno is originally from New Jersey. She obtained her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where she also was awarded the Deans Scholarship. She completed a general practice residency at Virtua West Jersey Hospital, and then earned her pediatric dental specialty degree at the University of Maryland, where she held the position of co-chief resident.
Dr. Jacqueline is compassionate and dedicated to continuing education, and assuring that both children and parents leave their visits feeling comfortable, confident, and excited to visit the dentist again. Dr. Jacqueline is also bilingual, and grew up speaking Spanish.
Dr. Jacqueline is happily married to her husband, Ryan, a periodontist in the US Navy. They are loving living in, and exploring, the area of San Diego! In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, painting, hiking and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Eric Dixon and his staff have been a trusted dentist for my family for over 10 years. They have never tried to upsell us and have always been straightforward and honest with us. We strongly recommend Dixon Dental for any families in San Diego looking for an honest and family-oriented dentist.

Dr. Eric is an amazing dentist. My two kids saw Dr. Eric for 13 years until we moved out of state. You don't really notice the quality of care you have until you go somewhere else and sometimes it takes a few tries to find another suitable dental home. In our many years with the practice, I never had not one bad experience. We miss you Dr. Eric!

We had a wonderful experience yesterday. My 5 year old son need to have several cavities filled. These cavities were causing him pain too. Being as young as he was I wanted to make sure he had an experience that did not cause him to fear going to the dentist. This team did amazing and my son is doing amazing too. When he woke-up this morning, first thing he says, "Mommy, can we call the Dentist and tell him thank you for fixing my teeth." It was really sweet and we did call.

Dr. Eric Dixon is an incredible dentist. My kids have been seeing him for 10 years now. We recently had an incident where my daughter fell on her two front teeth. The office got us in promptly that morning, and Dr. Dixon saw us right away despite a busy schedule. He was so thorough, and explained everything to me. His care and cautiousness went above and beyond what I expected. He spent time with me and guided me though my daughters X-rays and the care plan. I felt very reassured that we had a good plan in place to care for her teeth. The office staff is so kind. From check-in to check-out you are made to feel comfortable, and supported every step of the way. The dental hygienists take their time and truly care that your child is doing the best to learn how to clean their teeth properly. What an outstanding office. Dixon Dental office goes above and beyond to deliver the best dental care in San Diego.

This place is great! The dental hygienist was very good with our 2 year old son. She came up with lots of creative ways to get him to stay still and be happy while she cleaned his teeth. Their office is cleverly themed "space" with a rocket in the lobby and several wall light ups that the children are allowed to touch. Dr Eric provides parents with all the information they need to take good care of their little ones' teeth. We are very pleased with this dental practice.

My son has been seeing Dr. Eric for a about six years now - no cavities! We go every three months for a cleaning plus the bi-annual check up. Dr. Eric and his staff are wonderful! I find myself adding to stay at their office post appointment since they have made the iPad lounge so fun. I can't get my little boy out. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Eric and Dixon Pediatric for anyone looking for a pediatric dentist. PLUS they have Dr. Ross next door who is also amazing (he is my dentist!). Thank you to the Dixon family for such a great place to take care of our teeth!
