Dr. Elizabeth Ellen is a third generation orthodontist. Her grandfather and father both enjoyed 40 years of orthodontic practice. Dr. Ellen received her undergraduate degree at Tufts University. She spent an additional year in Boston working at the Harvard School of public Health before resuming her studies at the University of Pennsylvania, Dental School.
While at the University of Pennsylvania, she served as class president, and academic tutor, a teaching assistant, and a research assistant. She participated in a clinical clerkship at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, in the department of oral Surgery. She received the Dr. Earle Banks Hoyt Senior teaching Award, and was inducted into the Matthew Cryer and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Societies.
Dr. Ellen received her Orthodontics degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She was an Associate professor of Clinical orthodontics at Columbia University and was a member of the Craniofacial Team at St. Joseph s Hospital and Medical Center for many years.
Dr. Ellen is an active member of the American Association of orthodontics, American Dental Association, Passaic County Dental Society, New Jersey Association of Orthodontics and the Middle Atlantic Society of orthodontics. Dr. Ellen is active in the Passaic County Childrens Dental health Month, and she enjoys speaking to children in all grade levels about oral and Dental Health topics.
I am in practice over 25 years, and am proud to say that I can imagine continuing for many more years to come. I feel lucky to really love what I do every day! I purchased this practice, which was established in the 1960s from Dr. Bramante, who enjoyed 40+ wonderful years in the practice of orthodontics. Although I made some cosmetic changes in Wayne, and moved to a new location in Franklin Lakes (above the Market Basket Shopping Center), I continue the legacy of practicing state of the art orthodontics in both locations.
My husband and I married in 1993, after meeting in dental school at the University of Pennsylvania. Originally from Springfield, PA, he now practices general dentistry in Livingston, NJ. After 5 years of marriage, we had a beautiful daughter named Lindsay, and 3 years later, handsome Andrew joined the family. Together with our mixed breed dog Rosie we live in Franklin Lakes.
Members of my staff have enjoyed working in this practice for over 40 years and others joined after I purchased the practice. They are an incredibly hard working and dedicated group of people, who have enriched my life as well as the lives of the individuals we have treated over the years. We have traveled to continuing education courses in Philadelphia, New York, New Jersey, Las Vegas and Bermuda. We have enjoyed seeing Broadway shows together and my staff spend lots of time together outside of the office.
My philosophy can be summed up in four words: make the patients happy. I focus on treating people, not just teeth.I recommend early treatment only if there is a big benefit to that individual patient not because the rest of the soccer team has braces. Nor do I find something to do, just because someone came to the office seeking an opinion.
My approach is conservative, selective and extremely individualized. I prefer to treat all patients without the extraction of teeth (even baby teeth). I present cosmetic treatment options to adults that include fewer braces in the mouth, and treatment plans that take a year or less. I like to see patients for their first visit at age 7, 8 or 9. The permanent teeth start coming in at this age, the bones of the face and jaws are still growing and the child is usually more cooperative. Many children seen at this age will NOT be ready for treatment and will continue to be observed at no charge until they are older.

She did not do a good job. Keeps braces on way too long. Spots on my child's teeth after they were finally taken off. Has no time for questions and hardly sees the patient. Leaves everything up to the dental assistants. She does not take responsibility for any of her work that is done wrong!

Dr. Ellen is AMAZING!!! I have. 3 kids who now all have beautiful smiles thanks to her. She goes above and beyond...even meeting me at her office to fix a broken brace on weekends and late at night! She is gentle and thorough and my kids all love going to her office. The office staff is a pleasure to work with, everyone is warm and friendly. My kids did NOT have the easiest teeth to fix and now they are all PERFECT thanks to Dr. Ellen's expertise. I can't recommend her enough...she is the absolute BEST!

When I met my husband in his early 20s, his teeth were a mess! We both knew it was time to have his teeth finally fixed. Dr. Ellen is very professional and provided her guidance throughout the whole process to make it such a breeze! I mean no waiting, she was always very gentle, made sure nothing was hurting or too tight. She even met him after her working hours to ensure he felt comfortable. And lastly, financially. We knew we couldn't afford to pay for braces outright but Dr. Ellen worked with us and created a payment plan that suited our financial needs. Dr. Ellen and the office staff are all very nice and we can't thank you enough for creating a beautiful smile on my hubby. Well worth it! Thank you!!!!

My older daughter has a perfect smile, thanks to Dr. Ellen. My younger daughter is currently in treatment and I'm confident she will have the same results. Dr. Ellen has taken the time to explain all procedures and treatment options for my children, which I truly appreciate! I absolutely recommend this office!

Dr. Ellen has treated all three of our children and we were thrilled with the outcome! My own teeth had shifted since my first braces as a teen, so I too became a patient, and I am very pleased with my new smile as well. During our consultations, Dr. Ellen described very clearly her plan for each of us, and she was able to accomplish our beautiful smiles within the timeframe she predicted. She and her staff were great with our children, and we never waited more than a few minutes to get into her chair. Her office is run very efficiently, and we never had a problem getting an appointment because she is very accommodating. She even saw us on a weekend a few times over the years when our kids broke a wire and were too uncomfortable waiting to see her until official office hours. I highly recommend Dr. Ellen!
