Its Not Simple It could take quite a while to have a proper implant done by an orthodontist or cosmetic dentist. While there are one step procedures available, they are often ineffective and therefore are rarely used. More often than not, dentists will employ a three step plan that starts with the anchor of the implant being embedded into the gum line. Once that heals, you go back for them to finish the last two steps, which finish off the tooth. The success rate for these procedures is about 98% according to scientific literature.

People Choose Them for Many Reasons More than 15 million Americans have bridge and crown replacements for their missing teeth, but that isnt the only reason someone may choose to get an implant. They may get them because they were in an accident, their tooth is decaying, or it may be a simple cosmetic decision. There are tons of reasons why someone would choose to have this procedure done. Its a more popular option than you think: about 3 million Americans have dental implants currently, while the number grows by 500,000 every year.

There is a Recovery Period Depending on how the implant reacts, you will go through a recovery period of anywhere from two days to a week or so. This depends on your natural ability to heal and how you take care of your mouth. If you heal naturally quickly, you consistently rinse your mouth out, and you return to your normal oral hygiene routine, youll recover in no time!
