I feel grateful to be part of a profession that allows me to develop life-long relationships with our patients and their family. Transforming smiles can change lives, and that is something Im truly genuinely passionate about. I believe in hard work, having fun, and always doing the right thing.
It is a great privilege to work alongside Dr. Rick Ellingsen and Dr. Diane Paxton who have been providing outstanding orthodontic care in Spokane for over 25 years! I share their vision of providing the highest quality of orthodontic care in a friendly and comfortable environment.
I graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science, then attended UCLA for dental school. While at UCLA I received several academic scholarships, including admission to the Deans Leadership Institute and later served as president of the Orthodontic Study Club. I was then accepted into one of three spots at the University of Nebraska Medical Center where I completed two and a half years of specialized orthodontic training.
After graduating residency, I practiced in north Spokane for two years, then moved to Broomfield Colorado where I practiced for an additional three years. We are thrilled to move back to the Inland Northwest where my wife was born and raised.
I am an active member of the American Association of Orthodontics and Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists. I enjoy attending local and national meetings to stay up to date on the latest technological advances in the industry, ensuring that you receive the most effective care possible.
With four young kids, I love to stay busy doing daddy-time with Braden, Jackson, Leah and Tanner. Together with my wife Katie and yellow-lab Maya, we enjoy exploring the mountains and lakes of the PNW. I also love watching college athletics, playing music, training and competing in triathlons, and enjoy a great hamburger on summer evenings.
My philosophy is to provide the best possible orthodontic care in a friendly, caring environment. The ability to work with patients to create great smiles and positive changes in their lives is very rewarding. Being an orthodontist is the best job in the world!
I earned my degree in Nutrition as well as my Dental Degree (D.D.S.) from the University of Washington. After practicing general dentistry for seven years I returned to school with an Air Force sponsorship receiving my specialty training and Orthodontic Certificate from the University of California San Francisco.
From 1981 thru 1994, I practiced general dentistry and then orthodontics with the U.S. Air Force. I was stationed in Maryland, Germany and California; thoroughly enjoyed the professional and travel opportunities while serving. In 1995 my family and I returned to my home town, Spokane, and have been practicing orthodontics here since that time.
I am a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontics and their associated dental associations. I enjoy continuing my education and participate in the Seattle Study Club and several other dental study clubs. I have a special interest in treating patients with developmental abnormalities such as cleft lip and palate and serve on the Providence Maxillofacial Review Board.
I am a Spokane native and am proud to serve my community as a member of Providence Maxillofacial Review Board, being on the boards of the Women Helping Women Fund, Women and Childrens Free Restaurant and through various other community activities. I am also involved with Hearts in Motion, an organization that travels to Guatemala to provide dental care.
I have two grown children, Chris and Lindsey that live in Spokane. Chris is a pilot and Lindsey a lawyer. In my free time I love spending time with my family, my three grandkids, traveling and many outdoor activities including cycling, hiking and skiing. I also confess to a severe quilting habit and love of cooking.
