Dr. Armisteadwas born in Scotland and grew up in Waynesville. He moved to the United States when he was six. He now lives in Weaverville with his wife, Sonya and their children, Annabelle and Andrew.He completed his undergraduate degree at Appalachian State University with a major in Chemistry. After that, he attended Boston University School of Dental Medicine where he received his DMD degree in 2005.
While at Boston University, Dr. Armistead was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army after receiving an HPSP scholarship through the US Military. After graduating, he was commissioned as a Captain upon completion of Officer Basic Training in San Antonio. He served as a practicing dentist in the Army Dental Corp at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO and Ft. Bragg, NC.
After his army career, Dr. Armistead moved back Western Carolina and has practiced in the private sector for 5 years. Dr. Armistead specializes in esthetic dentistry, oral surgery, and is licensed in enteral sedation. He is a SMART certified member of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology and practices their protocol for safe removal of silver/mercury fillings.

Every aspect of my visit to this practice was excellent! I was able to get an appointment immediately, was welcomed by delightful reception staff, and my hygienist was kind, gentle and very non judgemental. Dr Steadman was also very kind, gentle and gave me good options regarding my missing tooth. I'm proceeding to use this practice for all future dental procedures!

I can't express how greatful I am to Dr Armistead and his whole team for showing me such compassion, knowledge, skill......and even all the humor :) during my visit. I had a tooth removed surgically. Its been a long time since I had anything like that done to my teeth. So, I was really scared and not looking forward to it at all. The warm blanket was nice too! Thank you so much!

Dr Armistead and his team have gone out of their way to make me feel comfortable and give me a smile to be proud of! After many years of neglecting my oral health there was no judgment just kindness and a clear plan. I'm a very nervous patient and everyone at the office has gone above and beyond to attend to my comfort and make sure that I did not experience any pain. I was Very impressed with the care I received from Dr Armistead. I needed a cavity filled in short order and they were able to get me in soon. I was also impressed with how well the doctor and assistant worked together.

On my initial visit, office staff was friendly and efficient. My hygienist was super friendly, fast and very professional. Dr. Mark Armisted was friendly, professional, stated his opinion and explained his reasoning well. What more could you expect? The only reason I didn't give the all star evaluation, is because the weather was nasty! And, I don't give 5 stars. Really good practice!!
