Dr. Pitman received his Bachelor of Arts Degree Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania College of Arts and Sciences and his D.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine where he received the Alpha Omega Scholarship Award and the Abram Cohen Award for Excellence in Periodontics. He did his post-doctoral studies in periodontics at Columbia University's School of Dental and Oral Surgery.
Dr. Pitman was President of the Columbia Dental Alumni Association and the Columbia Periodontal Alumni Association. He is also proud to have received the Distinguished Periodontal Alumni Award in 2008. He was also the Chair of the American College of Dentists New York Section in 2016 and President of the New York Academy of Dentistry in 2018-2019. Dr. Pitman has also served as a trusty of the North Eastern Society of Periodontists and President of his local Board of Health.
Dr. Pitman teaches postgraduate students at Columbia, where he is an Associate Clinical Professor, and in 1999 received the Faculty Mentor Award from his students and colleagues. Dr. Pitman has also been named in America's Top Dentist's Guide every year since 2004.

I came here around in November. I paid $200 for a consultation, even though I called beforehand and the receptionist lied and told me I was in-network. Then they never called me back for a follow-up appt. Basically I got scammed.

Dr. Pitman and his staff are the best! Skilled and caring! I can't say enough about the wonderful periodontal and dental care I have received over many years! I travel 60 miles each way for I know I am in the best hands possible.

Dr Pitman and his staff are wonderful people. They are capable to make the visit a very comfortable experience! I got the eight extracted by Dr Pitman and after very few hours I was completely fine and well, as nothing happened! I find Dr Pitman and his staff very professional, clean and careful about your dental health.

This was my first visit. I'm home from my oral surgery. I don't see any swelling at all. And the discomfort is minimal. I did feel I was in skilled hands. It was all over so quickly. Dr. Pitman came highly recommended -- and I understand why. He's also very personable.

Dr.Pitman received me on short notice for an emergency. Did a thorough examination, explained in clear language my prognosis and remedies. Will be visiting again soon.

Dr. David Pitman was my father's long time periodontist, and when I paid him a visit today after a long absence, I remembered why I felt at ease sitting in that chair. My father always referred to his work as the "gold standard," and I agree. He is an expert diagnostician, and his work is stellar in concert with the assistance of his longtime hygienist. Thank you to Dr. Pitman and his wonderfully patient and kind staff. The fifth star is in honor of the work he did for my deceased father.

I went in today and have been a patient for the past 7-8 years. There isn't a question that Dr. Pitman is an incredible person and periodontist. The office has strict COVID policies and standards that are abided by and I never felt unsafe or uncomfortable. The building was clean and restricts elevator access to 3 individuals. I would not only recommend seeing them during this pandemic for your oral health but also because I'm sure the staff misses you.

If quality dental care with a gentle hand is something you want, I can strongly recommend Dr. Pitman and his team. Every aspect of dealing with their office is easy from a gentle hand do a deep cleaning to helpful and cooperative office manager who takes the burden of dealing with insurance.

David, this response is from Sheldon. No need to explain computer mix-ups. I've been your patient for 31 years, and I have no memory of a disagreeable visit. On the contrary, you've been willing to come in on a weekend from your NJ home to repair a graft I caused to fail. In the most recent visit, after one day after surgery, I'm free of gum bleeding. So your work is excellent. Also, your current support staff, from receptionist to hygienist is competent and empathetic. I've not had the experience one of the patients below as to pricing for various procedures. And, I've had no instance of your practice to bait-and-switch on procedures. All told, I highly recommend your practice.

July 2020 - was nervous about COVID but needed to see Dr. Pitman and Lana the best hygenist in the world! office was organized, clean, safe and doc and Lana were PPE'd top to bottom so i felt completly safe and now my teeth are good to go again. thanks From 2017: I have been seeing Dr. Pitman for 12 years and he saved my teeth. I had serious gum disease that was missed by the dentist I had been seeing. I switched to a better dentist and Dr. Pitman acts as my perio and I see Dr. Pitman for dental hygiene cleaning 4 times a year. I made the mistake of using my dentist's hygienist for cleaning to save a few dollars and ended up with a much shorter appointment, a very unthorough cleaning and my teeth were chopped up very roughly. In comparison, Lana from Dr. Pitman's office takes 45 minutes, is thorough and gentle and really leaves me with clean teeth and no discomfort. I actually meditate during my cleanings, very relaxing. never going back to the dentist for cleaning. Happy patient - DHaup

Although I have no complaints about Dr Pitman's work as a dentist he manipulated me to on over priced office visit I did not need and price gouged for his work and did not disclose to me prior to my visit that he did not take my insurance.
