Doctor Muench is a former Assistant Professor of Orthodontics in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the Baylor College of Dentistry, and a former Assistant Professor of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health (EIOH) in Rochester, New York.

Dr. Muench is also past co-director of the Cleft Palate/Craniofacial and Dentofacial Deformities Clinics at EIOH, positions for which he was recruited following the completion of a Surgical Orthodontic/Craniofacial Orthodontic Fellowship and advanced specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry.

Over the past twenty-five years, Dr. Muench has established or managed nine orthodontic practices, and as a result, brings a wealth of experience to the Vestal area. More recently, he has become active in organized dentistry, serving as President of the Upstate NY Damon Orthodontic Study Group, Secretary, Treasurer, and President of the Broome County Dental Society, and Secretary-Treasurer and Board member for the NY State Society of Orthodontists.

Doctor Muench is a native of Long Island. Born in Queens, New York, and raised in the town of Babylon, he graduated from Babylon High School in 1979. Thereafter, he earned this Bachelor of Science (BS) degree, with Honors in Biology, from Ursinus College in 1983. Dr. Muench received a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from SUNY Stony Brook, School of Dental Medicine, in 1987. In 1988, he completed a General Practice Residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York, where he gained extensive experience in maxillofacial trauma and anesthesia. After practicing general dentistry for one year, Dr. Muench pursued specialty training in Orthodontics at The Eastman Institute for Oral Health, becoming a Certified Orthodontic specialist in 1991.

From primary school through junior high, Dr. Muench played CYO football. In high school, he was on both the track and cross country teams. Dr. Muench still runs many 5ks and 10ks and the occasional half-marathon. He enjoys mountain biking, snow skiing, fishing, and Apple computers. Dr. Muench has a daughter, who recently voted him Worlds Greatest Dad (he has the t-shirt to prove it).
