I love the field of orthodontics, because it allows me to have a major, positive impact on the lives of so many wonderful people. You speak to the world through your smile, and as an orthodontist, I have been given the opportunity to help create healthy, beautiful smiles. Ultimately, creating beautiful smiles...in perfect HARMONY!!!! The field is the perfect combination of science, technology, and artistry. All three come into play when I meet a new patient and start learning about their desire for a new smile, and then examine their teeth and jaw to see what techniques will work best for them. Each persons smile requires a slightly different approach, which keeps me challenged and engaged.

I love watching the transformation that I see taking place in my patients. Witnessing each persons confidence begin to blossom, as they see their appearance begin to change, is humbling and rewarding. I know the difference having a beautiful smile makes in a persons life, and to be an integral part of someones smile transformation is my passion.

Im a local man, having attended Bishop McNamara High School before enrolling at Howard University in Washington, DC. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Dentistry, and my Doctorate of Dental Surgery was awarded by Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine, formerly known as the School of Dentistry. It was there that I fell in love with orthodontics, so I applied to and was accepted into the Case Western Reserve Universitys Masters program, where I graduated with a Master of Science of Dentistry degree and a certificate in orthodontics.

I am passionate about innovation and technology, especially in orthodontics. Its essential that every professional stay abreast of developments in their field, and in oral healthcare there are always new technologies and treatment methodologies. My patients trust me to provide them with the best, most proven care options available, so I pursue continuing education offerings throughout the year.Most recently, I have embarked on intergrating 3D printing technology, in an effort to create customizedin-house aligners--a lower cost alternative to traditional aligners. As a lover of the field of orthodontics, I am also excited to be teaching this 3D Aligner Technnology to the Orthodontic residents at University of Maryland.

I am also an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Maryland Department of Orthodontics; Adjunct Assistant Professor at Case Western Reserve University, Department of Orthodontics, Cleveland, OH.I giveseminars on early treatment, Invisalign, Propel (Accelerated Orthodontic Tooth Movement), diode laser, electro-surgery soft tissue management techniques, as well as, other advanced mechanics in the field of orthodontics.

My favorite part of my job is getting to know our patients, welcoming them into our orthodontic family, and building relationships with them. At the end of treatment, seeing the beautiful Harmon Smile weve created for them makes me smile right along with the person. As our practice manager, I make sure that each patient and their family feel like VIPs throughout the treatment process, and I am always here to help with whatever a patient might need in order to have a positive experience. I strive to ensure that our practice is delivering superior orthodontic care in a family-friendly environment. Our whole team is committed to that goal, too, including my husband, Dr. David Harmon, our orthodontist.

Dr. Harmon and I are happily married and we have two beautiful children, Kennedy and David III. When Im not cheering for our kids at their sporting events or helping with their school activities, I find time to try new restaurants, travel, and shop. Im also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

I love watching a patients whole life change as their teeth straighten and they start to see their new smile develop. The best day is when the patient sees the end result of all their hard work: their beautiful, perfect smile! Because orthodontic treatment takes time, and we get to see patients regularly, we get to know them and they become friends. So that day when the braces come off, were celebrating because a friend has accomplished something wonderful and were happy for them. I provide assistance to Dr. Harmon as he cares for patients, and I take X-rays, too, as well as sterilize equipment and tools, but my favorite part of the day is talking with our patients.

At Harmon Orthodontics, our patients are our extended family. We love getting to know each person, learning about their lives, dreams, and adventures, and building lasting friendships with them, all while helping them achieve excellent oral health and a beautiful smile.
