Founded in 1989, OMSNashville has grown into a full-service private practice with Board-Certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and Associates; Dr. Daniel Burchfield, Dr. Gregory Richardson, Dr. Bruce McLeod, Dr. John Shea, Dr. Kevin West, Dr. Margaret Hamilton, Dr. Andy Wicke, Dr. Joe Mort, Dr. William Randall Cone, Jr, and Dr. Thomas Bailey.
The doctors of OMSNashville maintain a strong commitment to the treatment and care of the community and have nine convenient locations located in Brentwood, Bellevue, Columbia, Gallatin, Goodlettsville, Hendersonville, Mount Juliet, Nashville, and Springfield to better serve the needs of their patients. They are also affiliated at local hospitals including Sumner Regional, Hendersonville Hospital, Skyline, Baptist, and Vanderbilt, where they serve as clinical professors. Our doctors have donated hours of service to the Salvus Center and Interfaith Dental Clinic in Nashville, whose mission is to improve the oral health of uninsured, low-income, working people, their children, and the elderly in Middle Tennessee through access to affordable quality dental care and oral disease prevention services.
The highly trained staff at OMSNashville is chosen for their compassion in addition to their skills, and are experienced, certified oral and maxillofacial surgical assistants who assist in the administration of IV sedation and surgery. All surgical assistants are CPR certified, ACLS certified, and are registered Dental Assistants.
Dr. Daniel Burchfield received his Bachelor of Science degree from Western Kentucky University. After graduating with honors from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, he completed his General Practice Residency at the University of Louisville V.A. Hospital program. He went on to complete his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at Bellevue Hospital in New York, New York. He received a prestigious Clinical Cancer Research Grant in 1977 and was the recipient of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Award in 1980. Dr. Burchfield has been voted perennially by Nashville Lifestyles Magazine in their category of Top Dentists in Nashville. He has also been recognized as one of Americas Best Dentists and recently by Interfaith Dental in Nashville as a Dentist of Distinction.
Dr. Burchfield is the founding partner of OMSNashville and opened his first office as a solo practitioner in 1988. His personal interests include golf, tennis, racquetball, running, swimming, bicycling, and reading. He enjoys living on his farm with his three dogs, cheering on the Nashville Predators, and spending time with his three sons, John Daniel, Garrett, and Jacob.
Dr. Gregory Richardson received his Bachelor of Science degree from Western Kentucky University. After graduating with honors at University of Louisville School of Dentistry, he continued to complete a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. In 1994, he joined OMSNashville.
Dr. Richardson is committed to achieving clinical excellence through continuous educational pursuits. He practices the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery including bone graft and implant reconstruction, orthognathic surgery, obstructive sleep apnea correction, as well as traditional oral surgical procedures.
Dr. Richardson is very active in the local and state dental societies. He is a delegate to the Tennessee Dental Association and served as the President of the Nashville Dental Society. He volunteers regularly with the Interfaith Dental Clinic as a clinical instructor for oral surgery residents. Dr. Richardson is Board Certified and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral &Maxillofacial Surgery.
On a personal level, Dr. Richardson pursues sports and staying physically fit. He is also an avid aviator and musician. He lives in Nashville and enjoys family time with his wife Virginia and daughters Lilah and Cora.
Dr. Bruce McLeod received his Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Christian University and graduated with honors from University of Maryland Dental School. He went on to serve in the United States Navy for 13 years and completed his General Practice Residency at the Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. In 1993, he completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He later became the Department Head of Dentistry of the Orlando, Florida Naval Hospital, received the Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal for Service, and became the Oral and Maxillofacial Department Head in Mayport, Florida. In 1997, Dr. McLeod joined OMSNashville as the third partner.
Dr. McLeod is an avid swimmer and participates in yearly open water meets. He enjoys going to TCU games and spending time with his family (wife, Maria, and two daughters, Kristen, and Michelle) and friends on the lake.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about my experience with Dr. Burchfield (and I am a nurse, so I am picky). I have had A LOT of work done at his office and he is very knowledgeable, personable and treats every patient like they are the only patient he has that day. His staff are top notch, kind, and I feel very safe and well cared for in the office. He sent me out for an additional procedure to Dr. Parrish in Elizabethtown, KY and I would NOT recommend that route to anyone, but, otherwise, Dr. Burchfield's care was absolutely outstanding. He is one great surgeon, professional, and a man of integrity.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr Burchfield. Like a lot of people, going to a dentist was not something I relished. Oral surgery seemed the stuff of nightmares. My childhood experiences were rough, often, long and frustrating. My tooth enamel was soft for medical reasons and my mouth was full of fillings, despite brushing, flossing, no soda, restricted snacks and taking all sorts of supplements. Dr. B never made me feel self conscious. He was perfectly kind and gracious and his work is magical! His gentle manner and thorough explanations set me completely at ease. When both implants were completed, i felt as if I was leaving a good friend. Here! Here! Dr. Daniel Burchfield! You are a prince and a marvelous surgeon!

The office staff is awful. They are rude and completely disorganized. I would recommend finding a different provider than these guys if at all possible. Edit after response - Your waiting 4 years to respond and being unable to find the record is pretty much on par with the service provided. And I assure you, I was a patient of a female doctor at your practice. She left on maternity leave right after the surgery and couldn't do the follow up visit.

We are so thankful for Dr. Burchfield & staff. The absolute best caring , kindhearted and professional service! Our son had never had any oral surgery and suffers from a TBI. Dr. Burchfield & nurse Stephanie gave Nicholas the best care and their kind attentiveness made Nicholas feel so at ease! We highly recommend! !

Dr Burchfield is top notch! Wife had a few dnetal implants with great success and I just started my first implant. You can tell when a Doctor is both skilled and also a caring soul. Burchfield is top notch in both regards!

I was referred to Dr Burchfield for an extraction bc my molar was literally cracked in half with half of my nerve exposed. Very painful. I had to wait an entire month to get in to see him and when I came in he basically was like yeah this tooth needs to come out, charged me $88 dollars for the consult and gave me a surgery date for 2 weeks later. So basically I waited 2 months for a single extraction. Meanwhile, to add insult to injury, they did not even call me with an estimate ( I have no dental insurance) So I called to follow up and explained my frustration and the girl on the phone said it was not their fault, they are backed up due to COVID-. ?????? I have no clue what that has to do with my tooth being removed but that was the excuse. Dr Burchfield is a great guy but his staff SUCKS

Absolutely the nicest Guy! Very informative, made me feel very relaxed. I had a cyst under a tooth, and had to have the cyst and tooth removed. All I remember is sitting in the chair. Dr. Burchfield said there would be a little poke. I felt the poke, and the next thing I know he was telling me I'm done. He told me there would probably be a little pain, and swelling in the days to come. I kept waiting and waiting all weekend for the pain. The pain nor the swelling ever came. I can't express in words how good this Doctor is. Absolutely the greatest, most painless experience I've ever had at any physicians office. If you need an Oral surgeon, I wouldn't recommend anyone, BUT Dr. Burchfield!

I highly recommend Dr Burchfield! I was amazed that I had NO swelling and minimal discomfort after getting my wisdom teeth extracted. Not only is Dr Burchfield a Phenomenal surgeon, he is one of the kindest men you will ever meet. He made me feel at ease and like a lifelong friend from the minute he stepped foot in the door. I just had major work on my teeth with implants placed. NO PAIN AT ALL! His manner, attention to detail, the actual surgery and the importance to every aspect of my care were Dr. Burchfields only concern. He himself called me that night to check up on me. If I could give Dr. Burchfield more stars I would. The entire office staff are very attentive, courteous and caring. Never any pressures. In my opinion if you need something done Dr. Burchfield is the only one to go to.
