Dr. Ronald Cooper began his interest in dentistry in high school as part of an externship program which involved visiting with and learning from a local dentist. After that experience, he began volunteering and assisting dentists through college. Dentistry was a career path that seemed to match his natural inclination for fixing things. And today, when hes not fixing smiles, hes often fixing up his home in Potomac. Dr. Cooper grew up in Long Island and finished high school in Maryland. After two years at Franklin and Marshall College in Pennsylvania, he transferred to the University of Maryland where he received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry. He went on to acquire his DDS, with honors, from the University of Maryland Dental School in 1988. From there Dr. Cooper continued his dental education with advanced training in post-graduate general dentistry at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. While there, he served the community by volunteering time to those in need in Grady Hospital. Dr. Coopers dental education continued with the acceptance of the Fellowship award in General Dentistry in 1997. He then became more focused on preserving teeth while at the same time improving smiles. Dr. Cooper is a member of several national and local professional associations including the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association and the DC Dental Society. Along with home renovations and home automation, Dr. Cooper enjoys woodworking and spending time with his family. He and his wife Lesley, an attorney, have three children.

Mariza was born and raised in Ilocos Sur, Philippines. She attended the National University in Manila, Philippines to study dentistry, graduating with a degree of Doctor of Dental Medicine in 1995. She married her wonderful husband and immigrated to the United States in 1997. She worked as a dental assistant for 2 years, then decided to enroll in hygiene school at Howard University. She completed her training in the fall of 2004. Mariza has been with Dr. Phillips and Dr. Cooper since 2005 as a dental hygienist, as well as 2 years of dental assisting prior to that. Marizas favorite part of her job is interacting with our great patients touched by many stories, jokes, journeys and children most of all, she loves being able to provide the most up to date care possible.

Lilibeth (Beth) originally from the Philippines. A licensed dentist and earned her degree at National University Dental School in Manila Philippines as Doctor of Dental Medicine. She is a Certified Dental Assistant Nationally and has been working in the dental field for over 30 years in general, surgical and orthodontic dental practices. Shes been in our practice working with Dr. Ronald Cooper since 2009. She dedicated her life working throughout her career and loves to help people. Beth is a happy and hardworking team player.

From a very early age, Tran always enjoyed going to the dentist. She appreciated the education she received about oral hygiene, the interactions she had, and the relationships she built, with the dentist and staff. Tran was inspired to help others and knew that, one day, she would enter the field of dentistry to provide the same educational and compassionate dental care she had experienced in her own life. Born in Vietnam, Tran was exposed to many different cultures and environments. Relocating to the United States, Tran settled in California, then moved to Kansas, Maryland, and finally Washington D.C. making her adaptable and conversant with people from many different cultures and backgrounds. As Tran laid out her plans to pursue a dental hygiene career, her move to Maryland allowed her to complete her education with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Maryland Baltimore Campus, College of Dental Surgery Dental School. Upon completion of her degree, she was chosen to be part of the Dental Hygiene Admissions Committee, where she spent many hours assisting the committee in selecting new students. Concurrently, she worked at the Greenbaum Cancer Center and The PLUS Clinic in Baltimore, providing comprehensive dental care and educational services for immune and medically compromised patients. Tran is meticulous and diligent in her work and takes pride in delivering excellent oral healthcare to every patient. Tran is passionate about her work and has devoted herself to motivating and educating her patients to achieve a lifetime of optimal oral health.

Angel has been a resident of the Washington D.C. area for over 20 years. She attended The University of Maryland Baltimore, College of Dental Surgery Dental School, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. While in school she received The HU- FRIEDY GOLDEN SCALER AWARD, for exemplifying the qualities of humanitarianism, ethical standards, devotion to the profession and clinical excellence. She also received THE LISA MAZZA MEMORIAL AWARD for outstanding interest and participation in the Maryland Chapter of Student American Dental Hygienists Association. She is licensed to practice in both D.C. and Maryland, and is an active member of the American Dental Hygienist Association. Angel has been with Drs Phillips and Cooper since August 2003. She enjoys the career choice of dental hygiene because it allows her to devote attention to improving patients/clients overall health via good oral health with a focus on patient education, and motivation with individual instruction and treatment planning. Her future goal is to become active in the community and invest time in public health concerns.

Shanae was born and raised in the DMV area and graduated from University of Maryland University College (UMUC) with a bachelors degree in business administration. Shanae has over 10 years of experience in the dental field and although she started as a dental assistant, she became fluent with working with dental insurances and transitioned to administrative duties. She enjoys working with patients and providing optimal care. Shanae works closely with patients to ensure that they fully understand their dental benefits. She is very passionate about dentistry and strives to create exceptional patient experiences.

Faith was born in the Philippines, and immigrated to the US with her parents at age 7. She has lived in Maryland for most of her life. She is currently in school pursuing Dental Assisting, and would like to be a dental hygienist in the near future. As a patient coordinator, her focus is assisting patients on scheduling, managing patient care, and communicating in order to determine their needs.
