Dr. Catera is a native of Long Island, growing up in Hicksville. She decided to move back to Long Island from Connecticut in 2011 to be closer to her family. She purchased her practice in October 2011, which was located in West Babylon. In May 2018, she moved the practice to Babylon village, only a few miles from her previous location. The new location is a newly renovated, state of the art location, which her patients have described as peaceful and calming.
The cornerstone of Dr. Cateras practice is establishing honest and open relationships with her patients. She is a caring practitioner, treating her patients with respect, kindness and compassion. Over the years, Dr. Catera has treated patients with dental anxiety, and she has been able to help many of these patients conquer their fear of the dentist. She provides patients with an exceptional level of restorative, cosmetic, and preventive dental care.
Dr. Catera is also a silver Invisalign provider and received her certification in 2013. She has also participated in the Invisalign Pro-program, a one on one personalized training with an Invisalign orthodontist. This has allowed to her to continue to gain more knowledge in order to better treat her patients.
Dr. Catera takes many hours of continuing education courses each year focusing on various new topics in dentistry. She has been attending the Greater New York Dental Meeting (GNYDM) annually since 1997. She takes her team members to this meeting every year in order to further educate the entire team. She has also participated in study clubs sponsored by local oral surgeons and periodontists. She also attended a course at the Zimmer Institute in Carlsbad, CA in 2015 to become certified to restore All on 4 implant cases.
Dr. Catera has been a member of the American Dental Association (ADA) since 1997 and is currently a member of the Suffolk County Dental Society as well as the New York State Dental Association (NYSDA).
One of Dr. Cateras passions is giving back to the local community. She has volunteered to provide free dental services to low income patients through charitable organizations such as Connecticut Mission of Mercy (CTMOM). Dr. Catera has been both a volunteer and co chair of CTMOM since 2011. She has also volunteered at the office of Dr. David Scharf in 2012 for his event Dentistry from the Heart which provided free care to the local community. Dr. Catera also held Childrens Free Dental Day in 2016 in her office. She is looking forward to sponsoring another similar event in the future. She has also given many presentations on oral health to children in various elementary schools in NY and CT.
In 2018, Dr. Catera was invited to work with SUNY Stony Brooks Athletic Training Dept as a guest lecturer. The students rotate through her office to give them a better understanding of the oral cavity and dentistry.
