Cavities used to be very common, but over the past few decades, tooth decay has been reduced dramatically thanks to fluoride. Studies have shown that fluoride reduces cavities in both children and adults and helps repair the early stages of tooth decay even before the decay is visible. Fluoride is a nutrient, which is safe and effective when used appropriately.

Fluoride is a mineral that naturally occurs in all water sources, even the oceans. The fluoride ion comes from the element fluorine. Fluorine, which is the 17th most abundant element in the earth's crust, is never encountered in its free state in nature. It exists only in combination with other elements as a fluoride compound.

Fluoride is effective in preventing and reversing the early signs of tooth decay. Research has shown there are several ways in which fluoride achieves its decay-preventive effects. It makes the tooth structure stronger, so teeth are more resistant to acid attacks. Fluoride also acts to repair, or re-mineralize, areas that acid attacks have begun. The effect of fluoride is important because it reverses the early decay process as well as creating a tooth surface that is more resistant to decay

Fluoride is obtained in topical and systemic forms. Topical fluorides strengthen teeth making them more decay-resistant. Topical fluorides include toothpastes, mouth rinses and professionally applied fluoride therapies.

Systemic fluorides are ingested in the body and become important in forming tooth structure. Systemic fluorides can also give topical protection because fluoride is present in saliva, which continually coats the teeth. Systemic fluorides include water fluoridation or dietary fluoride supplements in the form of tablets, drops or lozenges.

First off let me start with I do not like the dentist. Had not been to one in 2 years because of a really bad experience I had. That being said. My tooth cracked on Friday. I called Saturday morning was accommodated with a same day appointment. I was scheduled with Dr.Kim. Walked in to my apartment the staff was very friendly. After being taken back the assistant was very friendly and made me feel very comfortable. Then Dr.Kim came in was very nice and he explained everything. He started working on my tooth and I have to say I was there 2 hours and I did not feel any pain, yes I felt him working and the vibrations of the drill but no pain. I am beyond happy, it was such a great experience at the dentist office. So much so I had come leave this here. This was only 2 days ago and I still feel great no discomfort. I highly recommend Dr.Kim, specially if you've had not so great experiences with any dentist in the past.

Removed Content: I work in multiple industries and run very professional operations. All are founded on honesty, integrity, accountability and perseverance and all professionals I deal with are treated with the greatest respect and appreciation and in return expect the same. Unfortunately at this dental practice this clearly is not the case and the uncertainties and lack of respect start top down beginning with in this case, the dentist whose staff is directed by him and accountable to his standards and directions. I have been dealing with this practice for five years and during this time have had an excellent relationship with Dr. Lee. He has dealt with me personally and professionally and requested certain definitive actions by me which I have followed precisely, accurately and professionally. My total round trip distance to go to his office is almost sixty miles through towns and back roads. Not once but twice, I returned to meet with him as per his directive but was not treated either friendly or respectfully by his staff. Additionally when relaying why I was at the office as per the dentists request, he never either personally spoke or met with me and intentionally made sure to avoid seeing me, even though each time I had carved out over two hours of my day to make his visit my priority. Today he saw me while with a patient and after I introduced myself to a front desk woman, sat and waited in silence until he finished with the patient which was in less than five minutes. Instead of speaking personally with me or personally requesting another return time to meet, his staff told me he couldn't meet and he had changed direction in the area of our five year business relationship. None of his help could know the technical reasons behind his decision so I professionally requested one minute of his time to find out why he had changed what he told me and requested at our last private face to face meeting. Now after my second wasted trip and over two hours of my business day, I have decided to share my experience with others who may deal with the practice on a business or commercial level, just what appropriating resources of man power, time and capital, what you may be in for. Staff has changed frequently and treated me very cold and unhelpful. To those who may deal with this practice in a similar capacity, think twice before you make the move since you may not know what you're getting yourself or company into. To those involved in doing business with dental practices and to potential patients who care how you are treated: THINK TWICE SINCE YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED. This is an honest and truthful review.

I've seen Dr. Lee on several occasions and each time, I have never experienced any pain during or after the treatment. I never feel rushed. He takes his time and answers any questions that I may have about a procedure. He is very honest and will not push any procedure on you. Instead of giving me a root canal, he was able to save my tooth and save me that extra money as well. My family and I are so lucky to have found such an honest, dedicated dentist. I've never had such a sense of ease at other dentist offices. Between his beautiful office and wonderful staff, you will be pleasantly surprised that you can have an enjoyable visit at the dentist.

My husband has been going to Dr. Lee for many years now. First in the Fishkill office where he worked before starting his own practice in Mahopac now. He is very good at explaining any problems and then going about correcting them with care and patience. Dr. Lee also has an outstanding staff that works with him. You will never miss an appointment because they are very good at calling you and confirming them days before.

We were searching for a new dentist because our job situation changed 8 years ago and we were no longer able to afford the high priced dentist we used for 20 years. We found Dr. Lee in Mahopac and made a visit. To our complete surprise our experience was excellant. His staff are professional and helpful and Dr. Lee was as good as or better than our previous dentist and his prices were reasonable compared to the way we had been being ripped off for all those years. Contrary to the saying 'you get what you pay for' Dr. Lee was a lower price alternative that provided as good as or better service. May family loves him and his staff and we highly recommend Brighter Smiles Family Dentistry.
