Dr. Chris Ioannou, born and raised in Suffolk County, graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Dr. Chris also completed a two-year pediatric dental residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center, where he obtained extensive training in dentistry pertaining to all aspects of pediatric oral health. Furthermore, he is board certified and has earned the title of Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Chris is specialized in treating children of all ages, including those who are medically compromised and have developmental delay. His goal is to provide outstanding dentistry in a child friendly manner. The most important outcome is for a child to have a pleasurable and fun experience as well as take home the invaluable knowledge of oral hygiene.
Dr. Chris is an active member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, New York State Dental Association, New York Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Suffolk County Dental Society, and the Nassau County Dental Society. He dedicates time educating parents and children about the importance of oral hygiene at local preschools and day care centers. He has also traveled to Madagascar, where he provided dental care to underprivileged children.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Chris spends his time with his beautiful wife, three children, and black Lab. He also enjoys being by the beach, exercising, traveling, reading, and being around his family and friends.
Dr. Catherine Skarulis is a New York native who was born and raised in Brooklyn. Dr. Catherine received her undergraduate degree in Biology from St. John's University. She received her Doctorate in Dental Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine. She continued her post-doctorate training from Temple University School of Dentistry in cooperation with St. Christophers Childrens Hospital to specialize in pediatric dentistry.
Dr. Catherine is an American Academy board-certified pediatric dentist, specializing in treating children of all ages, including those with special healthcare needs. She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, and New York State Dental Association. Dr. Catherine strives to make every patients visit a fun experience while providing exceptional dental care.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Catherine spends her down time with her husband and two sons. Some of Dr. Catherines hobbies are reading, playing platform tennis, and traveling. She is the youngest of eight children and has more than 25 nieces and nephews. Family time is what she enjoys most.
Dr. Athena Kabouris was born and raised in Westchester county, New York. She earned a Bachelor of Science in biology, and minored in psychology at Northeastern University. Dr. Athena earned a Doctorate in Dental Medicine at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. She continued her dental training at Long Island Jewish Medical Center where she completed her General Practice Residency in dentistry, and is currently a pediatric dental resident at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Dr. Athena truly enjoys treating children, and strives to give them a fun, positive experience while providing high quality dental care. She is an active member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and New York State Dental Association.

I cannot say enough good things about this treatment my son has received here. My 7 yr old with autism has a phobia of dentists and they team here has made both him and myself much more at ease while he's in that chair. Amazing dentists ...who really care about their patients and the care they provide to them!

This is our 3rd dentist office as my son is terrified of the dentist. I cannot say enough good things about this office and it's staff. He was finally able to get threw an entire cleaning without me having to hold him down, he doesn't cry the entire ride there. Does he love it no but he does so much better in this loving and warm atmosphere. They are truly amazing with him and do everything they can to make him comfortable and done quickly. I highly recommend them.

We had the best experience with Dr. Chris and all of his staff. The office is clean, bright, and excitedly decorated for kids. The staff was absolutely fantastic with kids and kept my 2.5 year old calm, excited, and interested through the whole cleaning. They were quick but thorough and left tons of time for questions! Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a new pediatric dentist.

By far the best children's dentist I've ever had the pleasure of visiting! I've been taking my son to Small Smiles for quite a bit of dental work over the last year. In a day and age where we seem inundated by corporate culture and generic service providers, the staff at Small Smiles creates an experience that harkens back to a simpler, more personalized dynamic between a small town business and its patrons. The young ladies behind the front desk always greet us by name and with a warm, friendly smile as soon as we walk through the door, instantly cutting the tension that's come to be synonymous with trips to the dentist. The cold, sterile ambiance oftentimes associated with the archetypal dental office is nowhere to be found in Small Smiles, with the lobby and ostensibly countless exam rooms playfully decorated with bright, vibrant colors and unique themes that invoke a sense of childlike wonderment in both young patients and parents alike. Dr. Chris and his entire staff are always ready to put your child at ease, all while providing a fantastic service. Highly recommended! FIVE STARS!

Dr. Matt and his assistant Maddy were absolutely amazing in filling my son Vinnie's cavities. Explaining everything as they went along, even making jokes to distract him! Can't wait to bring my other 2 sons to this office, they exceeded all my expectations!

My son has been going to this office for the past couple of years after leaving another Dentist. He has anxiety issues and it's hard for him to calm down after he gets upset. We have had nothing but great experiences with the whole staff at Dr Chris' office. In particular, my son loves Jean. She makes him laugh and for the first time, my son did not cry at all! A big thanks to the staff!

Love everything and everyone there! Friendly, professional, caring (the list can go on) staff. Truly impressed with how everyone knows what they are doing. Dr. Rubino, assistant, and front desk staff are all great. Not a long wait in waiting room. Everyone was very welcoming, friendly, honest, and informative about all my inquiries and possible procedures. I recommend this practice!
