New Perspectives is a counseling group with offices in Lutherville, Owings Mills and Westminster, Maryland. We believe that when individuals, couples, families or organizations experience difficulties, often what is needed is to approach the problem from a different angle.When problems are approached from different angles, new avenues appear for finding creative solutions to the problem via a new perspective.
Learning to view a glass as half-full rather than half-empty, redefining problems as opportunities for growth, or increasing ones confidence to view more options as viable might be the new perspective that works in your situation. Any form of chemical dependency, alcohol or drug, is ultimately a terminal illness if left untreated. It is terminal because of the progressive nature of the disease: the user and the life always become worse, never better while using. However, chemical dependency IS treatable.
About MeAfter 25 years as a licensed psychologist, I continue to feel energized by helping clients develop new insights and skills which will enhance their self-acceptance, relationships, and quality of life. I work with individuals on a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, relationships, post-traumatic stress, communication and self-esteem. I particularly enjoy integrating Eastern concepts such as mindfulness and meditation in my work. Much of my experience has been in University Counseling Centers where I have worked with individuals, couples, and groups, led educational workshops, taught , and supervised graduate students who were training to become therapists. I also worked as a middle school psychologist for seven years. I have raised two children as well as several golden retrievers, and when I am not at New Perspectives my favorite places to be are in the art studio or performing on my violin.
