Dr. Charlie P. Ilawan graduated from the University of New Orleans in 1984 with a B.A. in biology. He was then accepted to LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans, Louisiana where he received his Doctorate in Dental Sciences in 1988. He received a post-graduate degree in Prosthodontics in 1990 from LSU School of Dentistry. Prosthodontics is a highly specialized branch of dentistry that involves the restoration and replacement of teeth. Dr. Ilawan taught at LSU School of Dentistry as a Clinical Assistant Professor from 1989 through 1994 in the Department of Removable Prosthodontics. He practices general dentistry and welcomes children as well as adults to his Covington, LA office.
His honors include the 1988 Chancellors Award, the 1988 American Equilibration Society Award, the 1988 General Dentistry Award, the 1988 Removable Prosthodontics Aware, the 1988 Operative Dentistry Award, and the 1987 William Toler Award. While attending LSU School of Dentistry, he was a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society and the C. Edmund Kells Honor Society.
Dr. Charlie P. Ilawan is currently licensed to practice dentistry in Louisiana and California. His passion for dentistry began during his military service as a dental lab technician on the USS Ajax and the Naval Station on 32ndSt., in San Diego, CA, and at the Naval Air Station on North Island in California. During his military service he was also a dental lab technician at the Naval Support Activity Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Ilawan is a member of the American Dental Association, the Louisiana Dental Association, the New Orleans Dental Association and the Northlake Dental Association.
