Dental implants are changing the way people live. They are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved. Patients with dental implants can smile with confidence.

The dental implants themselves are tiny titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. These metal anchors act as tooth root substitutes. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. Small posts that protrude through the gums are then attached to the implant. These posts provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.

For most patients, the placement of dental implants involves two surgical procedures. First, implants are placed within your jawbone. For the first three to six months following surgery, the implants are beneath the surface of the gums gradually bonding with the jawbone. You should be able to wear temporary dentures and eat a soft diet during this time. At the same time, your dentist is forming new replacement teeth.

After the implant has bonded to the jawbone, the second phase begins. Dr. Tomeo will uncover the implants and attach small posts that protrude through the gums and will act as anchors for the artificial teeth. When the artificial teeth are placed, these posts will not be seen. The entire procedure usually takes six to eight months. Most patients experience minimal disruption in their daily life.

Using the most recent advances in dental implant technology, Dr. Tomeo is able to place single stage implants. These implants do not require a second procedure to uncover them, but do require a minimum of six weeks of healing time before artificial teeth are placed. There are even situations where the implants can be placed at the same time as a tooth extraction further minimizing the number of surgical procedures. Advances in dental implant technology have made it possible, in select cases, to extract teeth and place implants with crowns at one visit. This procedure, called immediate loading, actually performs the implant placement?

Dental implants are a team effort between an oral and maxillofacial surgeon and a restorative dentist. While Dr. Tomeo performs the actual implant surgery, initial tooth extractions, and bone grafting if necessary, the restorative dentist (your dentist) fits and makes the permanent prosthesis. Your dentist will also make any temporary prosthesis needed during the implant process.

A single prosthesis (crown) is used to replace one missing tooth each prosthetic tooth attaches to its own implant. A partial prosthesis (fixed bridge) can replace two or more teeth and may require only two or three implants. A complete dental prosthesis (fixed bridge) replaces all the teeth in your upper or lower jaw. The number of implants varies depending upon which type of complete prosthesis (removable or fixed) is recommended. A removable prosthesis (over denture) attaches to a bar or ball in socket attachments, whereas a fixed prosthesis is permanent and removable only by the dentist.

Dr. Tomeo performs in-office implant surgery in a hospital-style operating suite, thus optimizing the level of sterility. Inpatient hospital implant surgery is for patients who have special medical or anesthetic needs or for those who need extensive bone grafting from the jaw, hip or tibia.

Once you learn about dental implants, you finally realize there is a way to improve you life. When you lose several teeth whether its a new situation or something you have lived with for years chances are you have never become fully accustomed to losing such a vital part of yourself.

A Swedish scientist and orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Per-Ingvar Branemark, developed this concept for oral rehabilitation more than 35 years ago. With his pioneering research, Dr. Branemark opened the door to a lifetime of renewed comfort and self-confidence for millions of individuals facing the frustration and embarrassment of tooth loss.

There are several reasons: Why sacrifice the structure of surrounding good teeth to bridge a space? In addition, removing a denture or a partial at night may be inconvenient, not to mention that dentures that slip can be uncomfortable and rather embarrassing.

If you are considering implants, your mouth must be examined thoroughly and your medical and dental history reviewed. If you mouth is not ideal for implants, ways of improving outcome, such as bone grafting, may be recommended.

From my initial introduction to Doctor Adam Rose, EVERYONE at this practice was fantastic, in helping to make my first time experience, a lasting experience. Rebecca, who heads the front desk, was very courteous and helpful in setting up my first visit with Doctor Rose. As were the other staff members, Sadie and Julie, who prepared me for my oral surgery procedure with Doctor Rose. As a patient who had never had any oral surgery performed before, each and every staff member did their utmost to assure me that I was in absolutely the best hands with Doctor Rose, and had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. And they were 100% correct. The procedure went according to plan, and could not have gone any better. As far as any pain, I could honestly say, I never felt a thing. And even 24 hours after the procedure had been performed, I still felt no pain whatsoever. Doctor Adam Rose, as far as I'm concerned, and the rest of his staff, are absolutely, positively the very best in their field. This man is AMAZING to say the least, and that goes for his entire staff as well. On a scale of 1 to 10, they are entirely OFF THE CHART. In closing, all I can say is, if you need any type of oral surgery, if you don't go to this team of professionals, you're making a big mistake. They are truly tremendous! Vincent Capuana

My Mom needed to have oral surgery to have a bad tooth removed. Due to the Pandemic, I could not travel to Florida to be with her. My Mom is a senior citizen and still lives on her own. The office went above and beyond to make my Mom AND me comfortable. Special thanks to Sadie who answered question after question (by phone) that I had beforehand. Special thanks to Melissa who was in constant constant contact with me (by phone) to let me know how my mom was doing post procedure. And a very special thank you to Dr. Rose who took extra time with my Mom to make her feel comfortable. We often take our healthcare professionals for granted. We should always remember - they are our unsung heroes

The doctor is and extremely patient and good doctor, now when it comes to the staff specifically the manager ,she is really unprofessional, after I received treatment 3 month later I received a bill ,so I ask to talk to manager to resolve it because my insurance should of paid ,and she basically told me to f-off that it was my bill,to pay it or she was sending it to collections, she knowing that this was not my mistake but theirs because I paid what I was ask at the time of service, they should off known what were my deductibles and visits fee if I had any, from the staff to manger you can tell they are definitely not great at customer service with people, btw it was less than 60 dollars. She threatened me with collection for a bill under 60 dollars something I call in to pay unprofessional peace of art ,because your non manager skill peace of art your doctor lost a patient

We were blessed to come across Dr. Charles A.Tomeo's practice! Our experience working with him and his staff was nothing but excellent. Dr. Tomeo is a rare combination of exceptional skill, extensive surgical experience and a warm and kind demeanor. He was patient and receptive to our concerns during the consultation and communicated clearly what the procedure entailed and possible outcomes. We felt reassured and confident in his ability to help us and solve the problem which he was able to take care of that same day! Thank you so much Dr. Tomeo!

From my first visit to see Dr Tomeo i knew that my dentist referred me to the right surgeon to help with my situation. The young ladies at check in desk are friendly, personal and professional. Made me feel welcomed. Dr Tomeo comes with years of knowledge and experience and it truly shows in his bedside manners and what i loved the most from him is his HONESTY. He treated me like he would a family & friend, he made me feel comfortable under these uncomfortable situations. The office is very clean and everyone working in back assisting the Dr are as friendly, professional as the young ladies up front. I truly felt as my mouth was in great hands. I highly recommend Dr Charles Tomeo. #thankyoudrtomeo

Dr. Charles Tomeo Sr. is WONDERFUL! I needed an implant for #30 on my lower jaw. They were not the least bit concerned that I was also a Prolia patient for Osteopenia; 4 other oral surgeons would not touch me because they were concerned I didn't have enough bone strength - in spite of having had a bone graft when the tooth was pulled. AND thank goodness, because Dr. Tomeo's prices are the LOWEST anywhere I looked. He explained what he was going to do, and even sent me a PLANTER of greens the day after my oral surgery. [NEVER had ANY health professional do that!] Cannot speak highly enough about the Bradenton office. HOWEVER - Google Maps DOES NOT GET YOU THERE! It had me on the SOUTH side of Rt 70 across the street. Had to call and get directions from the front desk my first trip. THANK you Dr. Tomeo!!!

Dr. Tomeo is very skilled and professional. From start to finish, my procedure went smoothly and efficiently. Everyone I came in contact with were helpful, professional and they all treat me with dignity and respect. Dr. Tomeo is one of the best surgeon I ever had. He also called me in person to check on my condition on the evening after my procedure. Thank you .

I don't have a good pain tolerance and contacted the office. They told me they wouldn't give me a higher dose script until the procedure is over. I get because there is an opioid epidemic and what not but I had paid for my procedure already.... I did not like the demeanor of treating their patients as a doctor shopper... nor did I like that I had to go sit at a pharmacy and wait thirty minutes after having four of my teeth pulled to get my script filled. So moving further into the horrid experience three days went by and my stitches came out of one of my incisions. I reached out to the on call doctor around 10am on Saturday the 3rd. I DID NOT hear back from him until I made ANOTHER call about never receiving a call back. The on call doctor told me it was fine and to exercise my jaw. Well long story short Sunday came around and I was back in bed ALL day and could not speak. I was out of pain meds. My husband made a phone call to the on call service in the afternoon on the 4th 2:26pm, we NEVER received a call back AGAIN! My husband called back again at 5:54pm and finally received a call back. The doctor advised me to go to the Lakewood Ranch office at 8:30 in the morning on Monday Oct 5th and to be sure to call on the way there. Thank god I did because THERE WAS NO ONE AT THAT LOCATION UNTIL THE LATE AFTERNOON!!!!! I had my driver take me all the way to the location in Bradenton about forty-five minutes to an hour from my home in South Sarasota! I did not see either Dr.Tomeo or Tomeo Jr..... I saw some doctor named Dr.Rose, he was nice and said everything was fine with my procedure and x-rays and prescribed me a lower dose of pain meds that Dr.Tomeo gave me. This milligram was not helping me Tuesday morning at work. I ended up having to leave work three hours early because I was in excruciating pain. I called the clinic and they refused to prescribe me something that would help even after I told them how much Motrin, Tylenol, and other over the counter meds I was taking to relieve the pain. The woman Danielle told me to come down to the Bradenton office AGAIN!! I explained to her I was just there yesterday and Dr.Rose said I healing. I just needed something that would help my pain so I didn't have to take 3 pain pills in six hours!!!! She advised me that the doctor would be calling me that evening to go over some things long story short guess what????? NO RETURN PHONE CALL!!!!! This practice is not out for the comfort of their patients. Hope this post was helpful in the decision to your next oral surgeon.
