Carolyn L. Yu, DDS Dr. Carolyn Yu graduated from UCLA School of Dentistry in 2004, and finished a general practice residency from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in San Francisco in 2005. Dr. Yu has been in private practice since then, and she is very happy to be practicing in Pinole. Dentistry intrigues her because she finds it the perfect blend of science and artistry to create beauty. She was elected to be on the Contra Costa Dental Society Board of Directors, where she is currently serving as Vice President. She also serves on the Peer Review Committee of the Contra Costa Dental Society to help uphold a high standard of care for dentistry. She is an active member of the California Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking with her husband and spending time with friends and family.
Jessica Office Manager/Registered Dental Assistant Jessica began her career as a Registered Dental Assistant in 2003, and has been with our team since early 2016. She enjoys being part of a team that shares the same vision and is all on the same page when it comes to serving and putting our patients first. Her organization, communication, and effective implementation are key contributions to our practice. Jessicas 13+ years in the dental field have taught her to be proactive and prepared when it comes to running a dental office. Jessica loves sports, cosmetology, and fashion design, and she coaches a local youth basketball team. Her family are her motivation, giving her the strength and support to strive and work hard every day.
SherlynDental Assistant Sherlyn is a Bay Area local, born and raised in Richmond, California. She is a graduate of Richmond High school and gained a strong customer service background prior to beginning her dental career. The best part of dentistry for her is treating patients the way she would like to be treated. Sherlyn is an avid music lover and enjoys hiking, going to the beach with friends and spending time with family.
ChrystineDental Hygienist Chrystine has been a dental hygienist for over 30 years, and enjoys interacting with patients and educating them on improving their oral health. She loves the healing aspect of her chosen profession. In her spare time, Chrystine enjoys surfing the Amazon (that is, amazon.com!), cooking, and spending time with family and friends. She is also an avid reader and likes to go to the gym.
ThuyDental Hygienist Thuy started off her dental career in 2008 as a registered dental assistant and then received her dental hygiene degree in 2013 from Fresno City College. She enjoys taking care of her patients and spending time with them to make them as comfortable as possible. She is bilingual in Vietnamese, and outside the office, she enjoys spending time with her two young children and husband and their two dogs.

I think this is a really great office and team. So far I've had an initial exam by Dr. Yu and a cleaning. Hopefully, that's all I'll ever need. But more than likely, that kind of luck won't hold out forever. I think the greatest test of a Dentist's merit is how well they perform procedures. So for now, I'm highly satisfied with what I've experienced. Leaving that last star for actual work when the time comes. Otherwise, I would recommend Dr. Yu and her staff. It's 2022 and I've experienced a couple of procedures now. And giving that 5th star happily. A dentist is like a mechanic. You want someone who is knowledgeable, fair priced and highly skilled. Dr. Yu is so good that my anxiety level has all but disappeared. I recommended Dr. Yu to my husband and he's also very happy with her skill and honesty. It's such a relief to finally have a dentist who is actually good at what they do. Also, Dr.Yu is super attentive to patient comfort. Another bonus!

Friendly front office staff. Had pano x-rays by Nicole. She explained and narrated the process. Dr Yu did a check up as I am a new patient. Dr. explained what she was doing throughout the process, too. Overall, everyone in the office was kind and knowledgeable. So happy to have found this doc and her staff.

I knew I had found the right dentist after my visit today with Dr. Carolyn Yu. She is thorough, provides clear explanations, and respectfully answers questions. She differentiates between treatments she deems essential for oral health and those she deems optional, which helps patient decision-making. Her staff were friendly and helpful and seemed to enjoy working in this office, all of which created a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere.

Dr Yu has my vote for a trusted professional who has a light touch and is always willing to answer questions and listen to my concerns. I feel like I have a very good chance of getting to a higher level of health as a direct result of Dr Yu's expertise in oral hygiene.

Very clean office, easy access and parking, friendly staff. Only visited twice and Dr. Yu was wonderful. Only wish they higher walls up for more privacy between patients. So far after my 2 visits it went very well.

Dr. Carolyn Yu's dental office is ideal. She is located right off the freeway and there is ample parking. She is a consummate professional with a gentle touch. The office staff is excellent. The hygienist does a great job and whoever is working at the reception area is always friendly & professional.

This has got to be the best dental experience I've ever had. Dr. Yu and her staff are very kind and you feel welcomed. For those that want to have a deep cleaning in a great environment, I recommend it to anyone living in West Contra Costa county.

EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE! If you're scared/hate going to the dentist, go see Dr. Yu! Dr. Yu and her staff couldn't be more kind, professional, sensitive, and patient. They don't shame or judge you they just help! Also, how many dentists perform their own cleanings?! Dr. Yu did and she was great! Don't wait, this was the best dental experience possible! Also if you're going to get x-rays wait for Nicole to do it, she will have you laughing and couldn't be more positive! Great experience overall!

My first visit/impression was great! Dr. Leong and the Receptionists were very welcoming and helpful. I like how Dr. Leong explained my dental situation to me and showed me visuals. I would highly recommend this dental office.
