Some of the components taken into consideration include your facial appearance, skin tone, hair color, teeth (color, width, length, shape and tooth display), gum tissue and lips. Smile makeovers are performed for many reasons and customized according to your unique considerations.
Tooth Color:Silver or amalgam dental fillings can be replaced with natural, tooth-colored composite restorations, while teeth whitening can improve the color of stained or dulled teeth. Tooth color and shading are important considerations during the evaluation of and preparation for various procedures, including porcelain veneers, crowns, bridges, composite bonding and dental implants.
When considering the color of your teeth, keep in mind that dark or discolored teeth may suggest an aged mouth. A well-shaped smile comprised of bright, white teeth lends to a youthful appearance. The shade your dentist selects for teeth whitening and veneers is carefully evaluated with special consideration given to the tone and color of your face and hair. Cosmetic dentists are skilled at finding the right balance between providing you with a brighter, whiter smile and maintaining a natural tooth color.
Missing Teeth:One or more missing teeth can negatively affect the appearance of your smile as well as affect your bite and increase your risk for tooth decay making replacement an integral part of oral health and facial esthetics. Missing teeth can be replaced by dental implants, bridges or partial dentures.
Fuller Lips, Smile and Cheeks:An unshapely or aging face can be improved or rejuvenated with certain procedures in the smile makeover category, including orthodontics and/or oral maxillofacial surgery.
A cosmetic dentist will work closely with you to develop a treatment plan designed to achieve exactly what you want from your makeover. This treatment plan may consist of many cosmetic and functionally restorative procedures, potentially including teeth whitening, composite bonding, veneers, dental crowns, orthodontics (braces), oral maxillofacial surgery and gummy smile reduction.
In addition to the color, alignment and balance of your teeth in the aesthetic zone of your smile (the section of upper and lower teeth that show when you smile), there are several attributes of your teeth and smile that your cosmetic dentist will evaluate with you when planning your makeover. These include:
Tooth Length:Long teeth lend a youthful appearance. Aging produces wear and tear that often results in shorter teeth, and a gummy smile also can make teeth appear shorter. A treatment for shorter teeth may include reshaping and lengthening the two front central teeth with composite bonding or porcelain veneers. If you have a gummy smile, your cosmetic dentist may provide treatment to modify the gum line and lengthen the appearance of the teeth using laser dentistry procedures. You may also be referred to a periodontist for crown lengthening if necessary.
Smile Line:The smile line is an imaginary line that follows the edges of your upper teeth from side to side, which ideally should be the same as the curve of your lower lip when you smile. This standard point of reference may be used to help determine how long your new teeth should be.
Tooth Proportions:Your cosmetic dentist will examine your teeth to determine if they are in correct proportion with each other. Most people recognize a pleasing smile as one in which the two central front teeth are dominant and have a width-to-length ratio of 4-to-5. This proportion guides the length and width of other teeth in the aesthetic zone so that the smile line appears balanced.
Tooth Texture and Characterization:An artistic dentist can characterize your crowns or veneers to create a more feminine or a more masculine appearance, in addition to matching the look and feel of natural teeth or those youve seen in photographs.

Excellent Dental Care and Service. As a cancer survivor my teeth had declined bad from chemo. I was referred to Dr Rao for a front tooth that had recently broke in half vertically. After meeting and going over what was to be done I really wasnt looking forward to it. But, after the first visit the staff and Dr Rao made me feel very comfortable and at ease. He did 3 root canals and crowns for me and I couldnt be happier with the care and work they did. We did the root canals all in one visit, then temps in a 2nd visit and my 3rd short visit was the finished crowns. If you are looking for a Dentist that takes pride in their work, care and service along with keeping their patient comfortable look no farther. There was no pain and that is a primary concern of mine when visiting a dentist. I sincerely recommend Dr Rao and staff, it was a pleasure and I look forward to my follow ups for the first time ever. 5 star service. Thank you, George

Got a root canal and crown done best work I've ever seen. They are the most caring and make sure it's perfect. They make sure you are comfortable. I highly recommend them to anyone who may be nervous to get dental work.

Great and personable staff! Dr. Rao explained everything to me and gave me options on the best approach for care. I ended up with a crown and it was quick and easy and I forget that I even have it. I showed it to my best friend who is a dentist (out of state) just to get their opinion and they were impressed with his work.

The entire staff is the most kind and caring people in this field I have ever gotten to be a part of. I had a root canal and crown done and were very attentive to me and my needs and were aware of my anxiety I would have and they were able to quickly calm me down. I 1000% recommend Ace Dental to everyone!

I was truly nervous coming in for a root canal. I have had some terrible dental work done in the past, at another office here in Chico, and due to that I have found it very hard to want to reach out. By the grace of God I found Dr. Rao and his team. I felt comfortable from the moment that I walked in to the moment that I left. Emma, Monique and Dr. Rao are special people that I am eternally grateful for. I will be recommending them to anyone who needs caring thoughtful work done.

I went to Ace Dental on a friend's referral, I'm 64 and had only been to a dentist a couple times in my life. I had an root canal done out of state and needed a crown. Dr. Roa checked the work and realized that it might not have been done correctly, I still had sensitivity in that tooth. He referred me to an Endodontist and they had to do it over. Thanks to his observation, I was saved a lot of potential repercussions. I have since had all the necessary work done and actually look forward to going to Dr. Roa and his very professional staff. Dr. Rao and his team are incredible! Like many others I have dentist office anxiety. Everyone who works in this office is so kind and helpful that I felt immediately at ease. I desperately needed two root canals on teeth I thought may need to be pulled. Due to financial constraints and my insurance, many other dentists had turned me away or quoted me astronomical bills. Dr. Rao was the only dentist that showed me extra compassion and worked with me to get my teeth fixed. And trust me, it was a feat. After two long procedures, and the team staying late to make sure my crowns were perfect, I can finally eat on both sides of my mouth and smile again! I am tremendously grateful for Dr. Rao and his team - including Emma, Elizabeth, and Monique. They are all so wonderful that I truly looked forward to my office visits. I wish Dr. Rao could be my permanent dentist. You have given me a peace of mind that I have not felt in years.
