Dr. Byron Bonebreak

8191 Maple Lawn Blvd Ste E, Fulton, MD 20759

Orthodontics enables me to play an important part in improving the dental health and self-esteem of my patients, young and old alike! I feel that there is no greater compliment than when former patients come back just to visit, and many times for me to treat their children.

In order to become an orthodontist, I attained my Bachelorof Science and Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh. I graduated from West Virginia University with my Masterof Science and certificate oforthodontics.

I am a board-certified orthodontist. The American Board of Orthodonticsreports that only one in three orthodontists is board certified. A board-certified orthodontist has voluntarily gone through hundreds of additional hours of preparation to demonstrate the judgment, skills, and knowledge required to provide the highest level of patient care.

We have achieved board certification through the American Board of Orthodontics, the only orthodontic specialty board recognized by the American Dental Association and in affiliation with the American Association of Orthodontists.

I continually participate in continuing education courses in order to stay abreast of all the changes and improvements in the science of orthodontics. This allows me to treat my patients with the most modern and effective procedures and materials.

As a professor of orthodontics, I play a role in the dental education of many of the young dentists and orthodontists in Maryland and the surrounding states. Teaching encourages me to use the most technologically advanced methods of modern orthodontic treatment. This includes 3-Dimensional Cone Beam CT imaging, soft-tissue laser procedures, reduced-friction self-ligating braces, gentle space age memory alloy wires, temporary anchorage devices (TADs), Invisalign clear aligners, and aesthetic ceramic braces.

Dentistry is a fabulous profession for any young man or woman. We enjoy the rewards of helping satisfy patientsorthodontic needs while having a positive effect on their lives, especially for children and teenagers. There is certainly more to orthodontics than just straightening teeth. An improved appearance through orthodontic treatment can greatly enhance ones self-esteem, and enhanced self-esteem can improve ones quality of life!

Our practice is designed with your needs in mind. We try to accommodate the busy schedules of our patients and parents. We really work and succeed at staying on time, thus eliminating waiting by our patients.

My favorite weekend activities involve watching the Skins, Ravens, and Orioles. I like to play just about any sport involving a ball. I hope to take up running one day, but I have been saying that for a long time!

The great part about orthodontics is that it allows me to meet patients in a positive atmosphere and participate in something that is potentially life changing. Your smile is an expression of emotion, and is often the first characteristic others remember! Improving your smile has the potential to improve numerous aspects of your life.

I received my Bachelor of Sciencefrom the University of Maryland, and graduatedmagna cum laude. I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland, also with magna cum laude recognition. Then I completed a residency in orthodontics while concurrently obtaining my Master of Scienceat NOVA Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

I am proud to be a board-certified orthodontist. The American Board of Orthodontists reports that only one in three orthodontists is board certified. A board-certified orthodontist has voluntarily gone through hundreds of additional hours of preparation to demonstrate the judgment, skills, and knowledge required to provide the highest level of patient care.

Such practitioners have achieved board certification through the American Board of Orthodontics: the only orthodontic specialty board recognized by the American Dental Association and in affiliation with the American Association of Orthodontists.

I regularly attend the national meeting held annually by the American Association of Orthodontists, which furnishes the latest information on orthodontic research and treatment. In addition, I participate in local continuing education courses and events held by the Howard County Dental Association and theMaryland State Dental Association. I am currently the president of the Maryland State Society of Orthodontics.

I enjoy keeping up to date with my patientslives outside of the orthodontic office. I believe that orthodontics is perhaps the only profession in healthcare that entails regular, consistent contact with the patient. This allows me not onlyto follow my patientsprogress with their smile, but also their outside endeavors in school, sports, or their career.

There are so many things a beautiful smile can accomplish. A smile can express the happiness and joy of the wearer as well as create a calming effect in those who observe it. It is a strong nonverbal form of communication that is vital to our ability to interact and relate to others. A beautiful smile can provide the self-confidence one needs to succeed and thrive. Creating beautiful smiles allows me to blend both the artistic and scientific parts of my profession to provide the best possible aesthetic and functional result for my patients.

I enjoy staying active in the orthodontic community and continuing to learn new techniques. I am a board member of the Maryland State Society of Orthodontists, and participate in the Terrapin Study Club and Spear Education Study Club to keep up to date with the newest technologies and techniques for treatment. I also attend the American Association of Orthodontists annual meetings and the Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists meetings.

Outside of work, I love to spend my time with my two dogs, Chloe and Allee, my family and friends, and training for my next athletic competition. I enjoy competing in all distance-running events and triathlons. I am a member of USA Triathlon and designated as an All-American and am on Team USA for sprint triathlon.

I am also a member of the Mid Maryland Triathlon Club, the Howard County Striders, and Columbia Masters Swimming Club. You can often find me running around the trails in Columbia or at the Columbia Athletic Club or Columbia Gym.
