It has taken me awhile to sit back and write this review, but a year later I feel I should share my experience and hopefully ward off others! I visited this dental office a little over a year ago and as this was my first dental appointment in a long time I was very nervous and scared. I guess Dr. Hughes could tell, because after a couple of xrays were done he used scare tactics "you are losing bone, you need to schedule xyz as soon as possible." hearing of a necessary procedure I then asked how much my copay would be (this dentist was in network, which is why I selected him in the first place) to which he responded that my insurance is not actually insurance. rather a" discount plan" and the procedure would be $800. schedule it on the way out. I, in distress, obviously obliged thinking my teeth were about to fall out of my head. left the office in a complete meltdown until I luckily called a friend whom just graduated from the dental school. he was immediately suspicious and told me never to go back. a year later I was still distrusting of dentist because of this awful experience. I finally worked up to scheduling with a different dentist. She was so kind, attentive, took care of all of my worried despite the work that needed done. and they also took my insurance no problem :) my entire treatment plan copay for 4 visits is less than the procedure he made me feel like I had to schedule. it's all a cash grab. RUN FAR AWAY.

I won't come back here again. The Doctor was a total A-hole, (and very rough!) and the little girls he had running around behind him were snippy, rude, and condescending. I had a right molar removed, and I was given ZERO outgoing paperwork, and the receipt they gave me says NOTHING about how I ended up with a $140 copay. I get more comprehensive receipts from Publix. To top it off the referrals he gave me were completely useless, because they were both out of network, and that was after I SPECIFICALLY ASKED about cost of the procedures of having this all fixed. This guy is high and mighty to have so many negative reviews! No thanks!

1. They don't let you go back woth your kids 2. My son cried and they told me if he won't be quiet I need to wait in the car. - why would I leave my young child by herself while I wait in the car with people I don't know? 3. Customer service is not really the best I am finding a new dentist

The most unprofessional dentist and staff. They make you feel unwelcome and they don't want to do the work. Lazy. Rude. Unacceptable that someone can drive all the way from work and they say they only scheduled for a hygiene check?!?! What dentist does that? Just trying to milk the insurance company. Unprofessional and make you feel insecure and uncomfortable for needing/wanting better health!

I haven't been to this doctor before. I made an appointment for my 3 kids and planned to take them in the morning. Silly me I never looked at the reviews. I'm not willing to leave my kids alone with strangers which seems to be a recurring issue based on the reviews. I've never heard of any adult male doctor insisting on being left alone with small kids who can't tell you if something bad happened to them. I'll be looking elsewhere for services. I'll gladly drive farther away to find a dentist who doesn't insist on having inappropriate contact with my kids. That's a deal breaker.

Drove an hour to visit this dentist. They would not let me be with my 4 year old or 6 year old for their exam or cleaning. That is absolutely unacceptable. Why would they set that policy? Why would a parent let total strangers take their kids out of their sight? I instantly felt uncomfortable especially when they insist that the doctors and staff can touch and attempt to do whatever they want to my child without me present. What are they hiding? What are trying to do to these innocent kids? Find a better dentist who is not afraid to practice in front of a parent. What a complete joke and dangerous dentist!

Dr. Hughes is so wonderful and knowledgeable, not just about his profession, but also about day to day living. To add the staff is incredible!!!! I would highly recommend checking them out.

The office and equipment are dated but clean, the location inconvenient, the techs and office staff generally friendly. Then there's Dr. Hughes. If you are looking for a dentist with mercurial temperament, where you never know what you will get, this is your man. 100% the worst dentist experience I have ever had. Trust the reviews friends. I wish I would have.

One of my least favorite dentist in the area. My children went to him when they were younger but he never allowed the parents to go back with them ( as young as two are you serious?). The attitude of he and his staff are very condescending and come across very elitist. He may be good at his work though health grades say otherwise but there are better and nicer dentists you could go to especially when dealing with children.

Dr. Bertram and his team did a great job welcoming me as a new patient. I was having a really rough day (trying to squeeze into an appointment during a very limited window due to pandemic related childcare issues) and they were so kind and offered me such great care. Looking forward to my next visit!

My husband and I have had extensive dental work done by Dr Hughes ranging from simple cleanings to veneers, crowns and implanted teeth. We have always been extremely pleased with the outcome. The front office staff is very friendly and helpful. They have me checked in before I barely get inside. I have never waited longer than 15 minutes, usually being called back before I can even get my book opened. Dr. Hughes and his staff in back are very professional and friendly. I feel like I am going to visit friends when I go there. I very strongly disagree with these bad reviews. Dr. Hughes himself has called me when I have made an appointment for an issue to discuss the problem and formulate the right plan of care! I have recommended him to many friends and family.

Our first visit and it was a great experience. Everyone very attentive and kind to my grand daughter. She can't wait to go again and that is saying something for a dentist visit. Would totally recommend.

I wouldn't recommend this man to my worst enemy. It's unfortunate that he seems to be the only place to take your children if you have medicade and he knows that which gives him the idea that he is better than you and makes it his mission to belittle you and embarrass you in the lobby in front of everyone there. Isn't discussing medical issues in front of others that can hear a HIPPA violation? Disgusting! Too bad they don't have a negative star rating!

I can't say thank you enough to Dr. Hughes and his team. They went out of their way to get me seen quickly so that I could get a painful impacted wisdom tooth taken care of. I plan to take my whole family back for regular cleanings.
