Dr. Goodspeed is a 1987 graduate of LSU School of Dentistry where he proudly graduated 10th in his class as he was inducted into the C. Edmund Kells Honor Society. He received his B.S. in Zoology from LSU in 1983, and he graduated Summa Cum Laude, 16th in his class at Jesuit High School, New Orleans, LA in 1979.
He is currently a member of the Birmingham District Dental Society, the Birmingham Society of Advanced Dentistry, Cerec Study Club, the Alabama Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He has completed Certification I and II in Invisalign and has taken advanced surgical courses in implant placement and restoration. Dr. Goodspeed has trained countless hours on the Cerec, CAD/CAM, system including Levels 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and level 6 Training. He now has earned the Mentor status in CEREC Doctor's Scottsdale Arizona training facility. He is one of few dentists in Birmingham, AL with this level of Cerec training earning the honor of a Sirona trainer for CAD/CAM services. He also is an active participant in a Dental Practice Based Research Network that includes dentists from all over the USA and Scandinavia.
Dr. Goodspeed's extracurricular activities include plenty of family time, general fitness, wood working and tinkering, and jewelry making. He has been active in Scouting with his son, Gray, for the past six years. This is an especially great blessing. He enjoys music playing his trumpet, harmonica, and ukulele. Another interest he has developed is water conservation as he has developed a couple of new water conserving devices and is currently writing a reference booklet on water conservation.
Dr. Goodspeed was introduced to Cecilia on a blind date in 1998 by some Birmingham friends. Cissy was so special and such a great match that they were wed in New Orleans in 2000. Dr. Goodspeed then moved as soon as he found a suitable dentist to take care of his patients in New Orleans. They gave birth to their son, Gray Evan Goodspeed, in 2002. What a bundle of joy! Gray continues to be a blessing with his caring soul and agile mind and body. Cissy and Barry are ever so grateful for their family and the many blessings provided to them.
Once in Birmingham, Dr. Goodspeed looked all over the city for a suitable place to re-establish his dental practice. Good fortune and patience led him to Homewood, AL where the practice and location were similar to his New Orleans practice. Dr. Goodspeed is the fourth dentist to practice in this building. The Homewood practice has been the perfect choice!

I have been a patient at Central Avenue Dentistry since moving to the area in early 2021. I am favorably impressed with the entire team. Recently I needed major dental work. Dr Maniscalco explained my options carefully and I was made aware of the costs before beginning with the dental work. I also am made to feel comfortable when I arrive. The staff calls me by my name and treat me as if I am the most important person they are treating. I highly recommend this practice.

I am very happy & blessed to have found a family for my Dentistry needs. You are greeted with smiles, friendliness, and kindness from the receptionist (Lisa)to all of the clinic staff. They are all very warm and professional. I started under the care of Dr Goodspeed whom was such a Awesome and Caring Dentist . I was sadden to see him retire. But he left us all in good hands with Dr Chelsea Maniscalco. She is so Warm, Caring, Understanding and a Great Dentist. I am Appreciative and Thankful.

I have been using Central Denistry for years. Even with the change in ownership, Dr Chelsey Maniscalco and staff continue to uphold the personal care and professionalism as Dr Goodspeed did prior to her taking over the practice. I highly recommend this dental practice.

The receptionist plus all the other things is very professional, nice very friendly. The young lady that assisted the Doctor is goodness all rolled into one very genuine person. The Doctor talks to her patients and makes the people feel like they are special. Great place to go.!!

Dr. Sackos replaced a crown the same day. I had no pain. The crown was made and in my mouth the same day in about 2 1/2 hours. Dr. Sackos did an excellent job. Central Dentistry is highly recommended. The staff is very friendly and willing to help with any problems you may have.
