After earning his dental degree in his native Peru, Dr. B established himself in the Los Angeles area, where he practiced for 5 years as a general dentist. In 1994, he was accepted in the Advanced Pediatric Dental Program at Loma Linda University. During his training he treated medically complex cases such as heart transplanted children, immune compromised patients, as well as special need children.
The use of distraction, mild sedation and general anesthesia rather than physical restraint (papoose board) allow him to deliver a positive dental experience that will help each child to become a better patient in the future. Ana has been an office manager for Dr. Barreras for almost 17 years! Before joining Dr. Barreras team she was a pastry assistant for 3 years. With her history and experience at Dr. Barreras she oversees the day to day tasks of the practice and maintains a comfortable and smooth running office. She enjoys meeting new people and making new friendships with patients. Ana is a Chinese descendant born and raised in Mozambique, Africa and then moved to Brazil and lived there for 15 years. Shes been in the bay area since 1998. Ana is fluent in Portuguese, a little Spanish & Cantonese. In her spare time, Ana enjoys baking, hiking, gardening and spending time with her family, friends and 2 dogs, Cooper & Molly. She is always on the search for a great pastry shop with a nice cappuccino!
She decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies and equipment, and assembles wraps and sterilizes trays of instruments. She follows proper Standard Precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas. She was born and raised in Michoacn, Mexico and has been living in the bay area for 20 years. Cathy is fluent in Spanish. She has 4 wonderful children.
Yesenia has been a Registered Dental Assistant at Dr. Barreras since 2015. She earned her Registered Dental Assisting at San Jose City College and has been in the dental field since 2008. She loves working at Dr. Barreras because she knows the office is dedicated to giving each patient the most comfortable dental care possible. Yesenia does her absolute best in helping her patients improve their dental education and experience. She was born and raised in Cuernavaca, Morelos and has been living in the bay area for 15 years. She is fluent in Spanish. Yesenia has two children. Brandon is 6 and Sherline is 5 years old. In her free time she enjoys going to the gym and spending time with her family and friends.
Vi has been a Registered Dental Assistant at Dr. Barreras since 2003. She earned her Registered Dental Assisting at San Jose City College and has been in the dental field since 1993. Vis passion in life is helping patients feel relaxed and overcome any dental fears, treating them just like family. Her sweet, gentle personality makes patients feel relaxed and puts smiles on their faces. She was born and raised in Vietnam and has been living in the bay area for 25 years. Vi speaks fluent Vietnamese. When she is not at work, she enjoys spending time with family, crafting, hiking, fitness, and meditation. She also loves to travel anywhere her friends and family wants to go.
