After earning his dental degree in his native Peru, Dr. B established himself in the Los Angeles area, where he practiced for 5 years as a general dentist. In 1994, he was accepted in the Advanced Pediatric Dental Program at Loma Linda University. During his training he treated medically complex cases such as heart transplanted children, immune compromised patients, as well as special need children.
The use of distraction, mild sedation and general anesthesia rather than physical restraint (papoose board) allow him to deliver a positive dental experience that will help each child to become a better patient in the future. Dr.Bs practice philosophy is to treat children with dignity, kindness and patience.
Our staff of dentists, registered dental assistants and office administrators is committed to serving children and supporting their caregivers. Ana has been an office manager for Dr. Barreras for almost 17 years! Before joining Dr. Barreras team she was a pastry assistant for 3 years. With her history and experience at Dr. Barreras she oversees the day to day tasks of the practice and maintains a comfortable and smooth running office. She enjoys meeting new people and making new friendships with patients. Ana is a Chinese descendant born and raised in Mozambique, Africa and then moved to Brazil and lived there for 15 years. Shes been in the bay area since 1998. Ana is fluent in Portuguese, a little Spanish & Cantonese. In her spare time, Ana enjoys baking, hiking, gardening and spending time with her family, friends and 2 dogs, Cooper & Molly. She is always on the search for a great pastry shop with a nice cappuccino!
She decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies and equipment, and assembles wraps and sterilizes trays of instruments. She follows proper Standard Precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas. She was born and raised in Michoacn, Mexico and has been living in the bay area for 20 years. Cathy is fluent in Spanish. She has 4 wonderful children.
Yesenia has been a Registered Dental Assistant at Dr. Barreras since 2015. She earned her Registered Dental Assisting at San Jose City College and has been in the dental field since 2008. She loves working at Dr. Barreras because she knows the office is dedicated to giving each patient the most comfortable dental care possible. Yesenia does her absolute best in helping her patients improve their dental education and experience. She was born and raised in Cuernavaca, Morelos and has been living in the bay area for 15 years. She is fluent in Spanish. Yesenia has two children. Brandon is 6 and Sherline is 5 years old. In her free time she enjoys going to the gym and spending time with her family and friends.
Vi has been a Registered Dental Assistant at Dr. Barreras since 2003. She earned her Registered Dental Assisting at San Jose City College and has been in the dental field since 1993. Vis passion in life is helping patients feel relaxed and overcome any dental fears, treating them just like family. Her sweet, gentle personality makes patients feel relaxed and puts smiles on their faces. She was born and raised in Vietnam and has been living in the bay area for 25 years. Vi speaks fluent Vietnamese. When she is not at work, she enjoys spending time with family, crafting, hiking, fitness, and meditation. She also loves to travel anywhere her friends and family wants to go.

My son is a teen now and has been seeing Dr. B since he was very young. Dr. B has always taken the time to make sure my son feels safe and comfortable. My sister referred us to Dr B since her 4 kids loved him so much. My son has special needs and Dr B and everyone that works there have always treated him respectfully and with great care! I live further away but bringing my son to this dentist is definitely worth the drive.

Dr. B is amazing. My son has been going to him since he was 2 1/2. We recently had to have some baby teeth extracted and he is so gentle and kind that my son, now 9, didn't even feel it. I highly recommend Dr. B and his staff. They are fantastic, friendly and nice!

Dr Barrera is an amazing Dentist. He is so thorough and pleasant. My son has been coming for a year. It only took two appointments for him to feel comfortable with dental exams. Any parent worried about a child who needs extra care while being seen is in great hands.

My two kids age 2 and 5 absolutely love going to the dentist and seeing Dr. Barrera and his staff! The staff is so kind and caring and explain what they are doing every step. From start to finish 100% of their attention is on my children and making them feel comfortable( the t.v. In the ceiling is a big hit too).

I have been coming to Adolfo Barrera for more than 10 years now and he has always been super welcoming, friendly, kind and super proactive during my visits. He is very clear and his staff is super friendly and attentive and always willing to have conversations. I always enjoy coming into to his practice and get my teeth cleaned. Dr. Barrera is very intelligent in knowing about each patients teeth and what to do and is always concerned about the well being of his patients. When I had a very bad cavity last December, he was texting me throughout Christmas and New Years and checking up to make sure I was feeling okay and not in pain. I will continue to go to Dr B!

Dr Barrera and all staff was very friendly, polite and professional. As my daughter never went to dentist before and she is a sensitive girl, I worried a bit to take her a dentist. But from start to finish we received excellent service and she enjoyed her experience very much. Everyone always made sure if she was comfortable during her treatment and Dr Barrera - our hero was very helpful and made her feel at ease as well as ours! She received a new toothbrush, floss, toy and balloon! Thank you very much for such a superb service!!

Wonderful experience!!! The dentist is amazing , and very sweet with my children. I needed a second opinion regarding my child's cavities. First dentist gave my kids anxiety, and they where terrified to go each time. Not a good start to a little kids intro to the dentist! I was feel very scared, and overwhelmed. After a referral I was introduced to Dr. Aldolfo. He belongs with children! He understands the children, and is able to connect. I left with tears of relief, and confidence that he was going to take good care of my babies. We have had to go twice now due to my child's cavities, and they are literally excited about their experience at the dentist. He's a gift! And I hope that you too can feel relaxed about the dentist.

We recently began seeing Dr. Barrera and have been having an amazing experience! My 6 year old had been seeing a pediatric dentist since he was 3. However, he was terrified and would cry every time. We could not even get him to allow the technicians to brush his teeth! Dr. B developed a relationship with my son over time and now he has tolerated a filling and cleaning. It has been quite a journey, but now my son asks when he can see Dr. B again and says "he's so nice to me!". Shout out to Lucy (scheduling), Pilar and Bee (techs). They are all so great with fearful patients and take extra time to make it feel safe and fun to be at the dentist!! Yay!!!

Dr. Barrera is knowledgeable, patient and gentle. My kids were made to feel welcome and comfortable. The staff are so sweet and wonderful. The office is super kid friendly with an aquarium and TV screens for every kid during service/procedure. I would highly recommend Dr. Barrera to any parent.

Absolutely amazing!!!! We were referred here to get our 4 year old son's cavities done. He has Autism, so we were anxious for this experience. Right away Dr. Barrera and staff were extremely reassuring and so great. He understands and interacts so thoughtfully and with precision to take care of our son throughout the entire experience. He even enjoys going to the dentist which is so great. Happy that we found a great dentist for our kids.

Tonight at dinner my daughter said "My favorite part of the day was going to the dentist!!" This is a true testament to Dr. Barrera and his staff since today was her third appointment to have some cavities filed. Each time we visit the office we feel welcomed and everyone always makes sure that my daughter is comfortable during her treatment. While she loves the chickens, balloons, and toys, I love that her experiences have all been so positive and that she has had no discomfort or pain after her treatments.

Dr.B is a savior. Our kid is 6 year old. He was having a tooth infection and multiple cavities. Our previous dentists didn't give an option other than putting him under general anesthesia for a multiple extraction, fillings and crown. We even had multiple 2nd opinion and all came up same treatment plan and May be one or less extraction. We had concern over general anesthesia for such a small kid for a dental treatment. After a week of search, we found Dr.B and he treated our kid just with mild sedation and he strongly discouraged general anesthesia for small kids. Our previous dentist traumatized our kid during a tooth extraction and after that he became scared of needles and even for taking xray. Dr.B gave him a trust that he is not gonna hurt him and through out the procedure My kid was super calm and did not move an inch and he said he felt no pain at all. My kid had 4 fillings and one baby root canal. Dr.B saved all the teeth which other dentists kinda forced us to believe that they need to be extracted. I strongly recommend Dr.B. Thanks Nalan
