Welcome to Howard University Health Sciences and thank you for visiting our Web site. We hope that it provides the information that you are seeking and want to hear from you if you have suggestions about how we can make it even more useful to you.

As you may know, Howard University Health Sciences includes Howard University Hospital, our Faculty Practice Plan, the Louis B. Stokes Health Sciences Library, and our Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy, Nursing, and Allied Health, as well as several specialty institutes and centers. In these historic and groundbreaking institutions, we conduct the research, teaching, and clinical care that seek to eliminate health disparities and provide service to the most vulnerable among us.

We have spent much of the last year in a strategic planning process. That process was highly inclusive, with hundreds of faculty, staff, students, and other interested persons contributing their wisdom and insights. It resulted in a refreshed sense of what we do and who we are, a vision of the future we want to create, and a strategy for how we will get there.

It is a privilege to have the opportunity to work with such a fine team of professionals as Howard University Health Sciences continues on our exciting journey. We hope that you will share that journey with us in some way.

The Howard University Health Sciences (HUHS) enterprise includes the Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy, Nursing and Allied Health Sciences. Since its inception, the HUHS has conferred over 28,300 doctoral and professional degrees to scientists and health care professionals, the majority whom are from underrepresented and disadvantaged populations.

To study at Howard University is choosing an institution that is experienced, dynamic, and diverse with a tradition of quality education since 1867 provided by the constant engagement of its faculty toward the students and their needs, and by its rich campus social and cultural life

The College of Dentistry at Howard University was established in 1881. It is the fifth oldest dental school in the United States. As a teaching and patient care institution, the College has trained thousands of highly skilled dental professionals to serve their communities, particularly the under served.

Our graduates are currently serving communities in 40 states and 53 foreign countries. Our more than 100 faculty members constitute one of the best trained dental faculties in the world, thus making our institution the Capstone for transforming competent students into leaders for America and the world.

Our mission includes the philosophy that education, research and service are inseparable constituents of a modern dental education. The College's primary goal is to remain a national resource for dental leaders and a comprehensive education and research institution which attracts highly motivated and academically accomplished students from culturally diverse backgrounds.

In my opinion this practice is a nightmare to work with and Howard University should not allow them to use its name! HU has a strong and respected reputation and this practice tarnishes their name. As of today, and apparently for some time now (although they will not effectively communicate this) this practice does not have the necessary credentials to do certain procedures, tooth extraction being one of the procedures. I would encourage anyone wishing to use this practice to FIRST start with your insurance company and ask your insurance company if they are an authorized dental provider. Taking this first step will save you time and frustration. This dental office will tell you that they accept your insurance but they will not tell you that your insurance does not accept them... lol!

The worst experience ever! Howard University Hospital should be closed down...I went there on 5 different occasions to have a dental procedure done and never was accommodated ....each time I witnessed arguing, complaints of unprofessionalism, and got excuse after excuse... very incompetent staff and doctors and the office is very unsanitary! DON'T GO HERE.....IT WILL NOT BE A PLEASANT VISIT....TRUST ME!
