After a one-year hospital-based general practice residency in San Francisco, a two-year commitment as a general dentist and a two-year orthodontic residency, Dr. James opened her practice in Haddonfield, New Jersey. She now has a second location, Art of Smile, in Center City, Philadelphia.
Dr. James is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. She is a faculty member at Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry in the Graduate Department of Orthodontics. Dr. James is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Mid-Atlantic Society of Orthodontists, New Jersey Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, New Jersey Dental Association, Southern Dental Society of New Jersey, Cooper Hospital Regional Craniofacial and Cleft Palate Team and the Charles H. Tweed International Foundation for Orthodontic Research. She is also one of several international instructors for the Tweed Foundation.
Dr. James is an active member of Rotary International and travels with Rotaplast to third-world countries working with a team of specialists to perform cleft lip and palate surgeries and reconstructions. She has traveled to China as an Orthodontic delegate with People to People and has lectured to the General Dental residents at UMDNJ.
Dr. James lives in Haddonfield but in the summer can often be found on Long Beach Island. She has two sons, Coleman and Finn, and a dog named Kav (coffee in Hungarian), who can often be found at the office playing with patients. Dr. James spends a lot of time hiking in the woods with her dog and also enjoys traveling, gardening, cooking, and martial arts. Her greatest athletic accomplishment was summiting Mount Kilimanjaro in the Summer of 2018.
Dr. Vernacchio is devoted to learning and education, as she regularly attends conferences, continuing education courses and webinars. She is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists.
Dr. Vernacchio lives in Medford with her husband, Steven. She enjoys spending time with her family, going to the beach, traveling, cooking, and trying new restaurants. She is an avid runner and loves to be outdoors, especially in the summertime. This past summer she traveled to the Greek Islands for her honeymoon. She is so thrilled to be a part of this new community and looks forward to meeting you soon!
Hi, I am Jen! The majority of my career has been spent in the legal field. My career change has been a great transition, especially because of the patients! I enjoy speaking with, and meeting, each and every one of you. During my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband and two sons, driving my Jeep (mostly in four wheel drive on the beach, in the woods, or on rocks) and running. I look forward to seeing you!

Since joining the team here at Dr. Amy James and Associates, that passion has only grown. We utilize all of the latest technologies and really focus on continuing education. Hi, Im Elizabeth, the Practice Administrator, secluded away upstairs in the office. Ive known Dr. James since the day she was born and love working with this awesome team. Orthodontics became a second career for me, after retiring as a Nursing Supervisor from Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia.
I live with my husband, Robert; 2 rat terriers, Karma and Mikey Rowe; and 22 no-name chickens on our Almosta Farm in Mullica Township. Organic gardening and raising organic chickens and eggs are my passion, hobby, and pleasure, as I try and practice sustainable living and farming.
Kav is our office dog. He is a Hungarian hunting dog called a Vizsla. His name means coffee in Hungarian. He hardly sheds and will lean on you if you pet him. He is a sniffer of treats and the smell of kitties on your jacket. He loves to run in Crows woods and will bring you a toy or ball to play with if you ask him to.

I am a nervous person around anything teeth but from day one, everyone there was gentle, friendly and encouraging. I always felt I was in great hands and walked away with a beautiful smile! They are very skilled with Invisalign and my aligners were always scanned well and fit well. Can not recommend this practice more!

Dr Amy James and team are great! Multiple members of my family are working with them to improve their bite structure. So far the experience has been smooth and easy. The Invisalign's are amazingly easy and effective.

Amazing office and extremely friendly staff! Jen answered my initial call to Dr. James' office and her warm and congenial personality made me feel comfortable from the very start. She was patient with all of our questions and worked with us to transition easily from a previous orthodontist. Once we came in, we met with Dr. James and Jordan who gave us several options for our unique dental situation in a pressure free environment. Jordan was especially helpful in guiding both me and my daughter to the treatment plan that worked best for us. Office is clean, modern and pleasant to visit. My daughter loved the ceramic braces option!

Such a great ortho office! I started working with Dr. James a little over 2 years ago and she was incredible. I had lots of things to consider when deciding on getting ortho services and she walked me through each step and answered all my questions along the way. She worked with my dentist and periodontists to make sure my treatment plan was solid across the board. I also loved working with Jordan and Katie. The whole staff is so kind and friendly and they really know what they're talking about. I can't recommend this practice enough. At the end of my treatment my teeth looked AMAZING. I couldn't have asked for a better team to work with!

Dr. James and her staff are wonderful! Everyone in the office is warm and friendly and they have been so helpful to my son and me during our treatment (and transformation)! I highly recommend!! UPDATE: Just finished Invisalign with Dr. James and I'm beyond thrilled with my results! Dr. James helped me achieve something that I have always wanted - beautiful teeth!

Thanks to another orthodontist who said "Oh, you don't need a lower retainer" back in the early 80s, my lower teeth eventually shifted terribly. Add in gum recession, and the only way to correct this was by pulling a lower front tooth and closing the gap with Invisalign. Dr. James provided Invisalign trays with the space "whited out," and in less than a year the space was closed! No one notices that a tooth is missing! I once again have straight, easy-to-clean teeth and no more worries about speech issues. Couldn't be happier!

I had made a list of Orthodontists to take my daughter to meet to see who was a good fit for her. Dr. James's office was the first and last we went to. She (Dr. James) and her staff made her feel so comfortable and welcome. And as a parent I appreciated that and the professionalism from everyone. From the first day to the last we were explained everything that needed to be done to my daughters teeth/mouth and how and why. It's been about three weeks since my daughter got her braces off and all I can say is, WOW! What a beautiful smile. It warms my heart to see her smile so much. Thank you so much to Dr. James and staff for all that you do, you really make a difference in people's lives.

This is the best run medical office I have ever visited. Dr. James and her staff provide outstanding orthodontic care, but I am equally impressed by the impeccable organization of the entire business. All appointments are timely and efficient. It is evident they put in the necessary preparation to run a great business.
