Dr. Behnia holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering (Cum Laude) from Boston University as well as a Master of Science degree in Oral Biologyfrom the University of Maryland. He attained his specialty certificate in Endodontics, upon graduating from the University of Pennsylvania Dental School with honors.
Dr. Behnia has published and lectured extensively, both nationally and internationally. He is an active member of numerous professional societies, including the American Association of Endodontists (AAE), American Dental Association (ADA), American Society of Forensic Odontology (ASFO), American Association of Dental Boards (AADB), and the Commission on Dental Competency Assessments (CDCA).
At the national level, he has been actively serving his specialty professional association, the American Association of the Endodontists (AAE) at different capacities. He served on the AAE's Board of Directors as District I Director for three years. He is currently serving on the AAE's Constitution and Bylaws Committee.
At the local level, he is currently serving as the Chair of the General Arrangements Committee for the Maryland State Dental Association (MSDA) as well as serving on the Continuing Education Committee.
Prior to opening his private practice, Dr. Behnia was an Assistant Professor and Director of Pre-doctoral Endodontics for four years at the Department of Endodontics at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. He is currently a Part-time Clinical Assistant Professor (Dean's Faculty) at the Department of Advanced Oral Sciences and Therapeutics, Division of Endodontics, University of Maryland School of Dentistry, Baltimore, Maryland.
He was recognized as a Top Dentist (Endodontist) by the Washingtonian Magazine in 2020. Dr. Behnia has also been honored Fellowships in the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists.
We pride ourselves in using the latest technological innovations in Endodontics. In our state-of-the-art practice, we utilize Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), Digital Radiography, which significantly reduces radiation exposure to the patient. We also use Zeiss operating microscopes with Xenon light technology during all phases of root canal procedures.
