Riding home from work on a bicycle a week before college, Dr. Johnson was struck by a vehicle in a hit and run accident. He suffered from broken front teeth and a fractured jaw, just a few days after having his braces removed.Because of the injuries, the first six months of college were spent on a liquid diet. Through that experience, he came to see the need for how important teeth are, and to appreciate how his dentist helped him. He desired to do the same for others.
He went on to receive a degree in Chemical Engineering at Iowa State University before attending the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He has also received training on Aesthetic Dentistry at the University of Minnesota, and in Cosmetic Dentistry at the Pankey Institute. In 2009, he was noted as one of the top dentists in America by the Consumer Research Council. In both 2009 and 2010, he received the Best of Bismarck award in the Dentist Office category.
