Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP is a by-product of blood that is exceptionally rich in platelets. PRP has long been used in hospitals to accelerate the bodys own healing process, but it is only fairly recently that advances in technology have allowed this same technique to be used in the dental office.

According to doctors in the dental field, PRP therapy was shown to increase both tissue and bone growth which would lead to a quicker wound healing. This in turn could lead to a long term success rate of a patient who would receive a dental implant. This type of therapy regimen is exactly what dental surgeons want for their patients because there is nothing better than being able to use the bodys own ability to regenerate the growth of bone and tissue especially if the body lost some due to certain diseases or other issues.

That would allow the dental implant to heal within a matter of several weeks. This could reduce the amount of time the patient would have to wait for the implant placement and affixing of the permanent crown to take place.

Process: the blood will be placed into the centrifuge to separate the plasma from the red blood cells. Immediately after suturing the wound, the dentist will apply the PRP to the surgical area in high concentration. This will expedite the healing and decrease the amount of discomfort following the surgery.

Imagine if you will, that you or your child visits the dentist and upon examination he finds a cavity. Then, without the use of injections, drilling, fillings or anything that could cause pain, he sprays ozone across the tooth for 60 seconds and sends you on your way. A simple procedure, but just like that, the infective process of decay is reversed, and by natural processes the tooth heals itself and hardens against future infections. Sounds a lot like science fiction, doesnt it? Amazingly, there are over 1,000 research papers to support the use of ozone gas, ozonated water and ozonated olive oil. What is this innovation? Its called Ozone/Oxygen Therapy. Ozone is a naturally occurring molecule consisting of three atoms of oxygen (O3) instead of two (O2). With early detection of cavities made possible by the use of our laser detection device and followed by treatment with ozone gas, we can prevent years of lengthy and costly dental visits, with the added bonus of being painless! Another benefit of ozone dentistry is that we can preserve so much of the healthy part of the tooth and thus save more teeth.

It is always fascinating to me to discuss what is old and what is new. There is nothing new here. Ozone has been used in medicine, dentistry and water treatment facilities for over one hundred years. In fact, for the last 50 years, ozone dental treatment has been used on over 50 million people worldwide with very few side effects, unlike prescription drugs that send 1.4 million Americans to the hospital each year. Ozone dentistry may someday be a routine procedure in all dental practices because of its numerous uses and benefits if the pharmaceutical lobbyists allow it. First, as mentioned above, is the reversal of tooth decay. We also use it to sterilize the canals during root canal treatment, to sterilize the water lines, to disinfect gum tissues during teeth cleanings, to stop sensitivity in teeth, as a mouth rinse and even as a treatment for cold sores and skin infections. In addition to treatment, ozone also offers a significant improvement in our sterilization process. Ozone kills bacteria, viruses, and fungi hundreds of times more effectively than chlorine bleach and does it thousands of times faster. Perhaps that is why our own bodies produce ozone to fight infections. These bugs have no defense mechanism against ozone, whereas most of our own tissues actually like the oxygenating bath of ozone. Perhaps you have heard or read about Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease? It is the name for mad cow disease when found in humans. The prions, which cause this disease, are a simple chain of amino acids that cannot be killed by traditional sterilization methods, by heat, cold or bleach. The germs literally stick to stainless steel and carbide instruments. Because of their tenacity to stick, dentists practicing in the UK cannot use a steel instrument twice because it is estimated that one in 500 people living in the UK now carry this infective bug! What can kill or break apart this amino acid sequence? Soaking the instrument for a few minutes in ozonated water eradicates the prion. You may ask: Why havent we used this before now? If it has been used in the Soviet Union for 50 years, in Cuba for 90 years, and has been available all over Europe, Canada, Australia and South Africa, why not here? The answer is the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Treatment with ozone predates the formation of the FDA, so this method of treatment was grandfathered in, but not the ozone-making machines. We finally have an ozone-making machine that is FDA-approved! This isnt a cure-all solution to your dental needs, but we are excited about all of the applications of this revolutionary treatment tool and the savings we can offer you as a result. Better, longer lasting results at lower cost makes us thrilled to be a part of such a significant advancement in dental services. Ozone is more than just a keyword in environmental circles. Today, it is becoming a frequent topic among medical practitioners and dental professionals. And for good reason. This latest innovation in the medical and dental field harnesses the power of ozone to tackle a myriad of conditions ranging from diabetes to dental infections. The far-reaching possibilities of ozone therapy are almost like a miracle, and to conventional medicine, this premise may appear to be straight out of science fiction. A Brief Historical Background Even before it became a hot-button issue among environmentalists, scientists have been conducting research on the therapeutic qualities of ozone. Discovered by German chemist Christian Friedrich Schonbein in 1840, ozone is a naturally-occurring gas composed of three oxygen atoms. It is colorless with a sharp odor, and it mainly functions in the atmosphere to prevent harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation from reaching the earth. Its role is so vital that damage in the ozone layer has impacts on all living beings. Apart from this crucial function, however, scientists also realized that ozone has high-oxidizing and antibacterial properties. Interest in it grew, and many, including the famous inventor Nikola Tesla, believed in it and explored its potential. Since then, ozone has been used to disinfect drinking water, treat wounds and counteract diseases. However, a high concentration of ozone is toxic and special techniques had to be developed to manage and utilize its properties.

Application and procedures somewhat differ, but ozone therapy essentially operates on the same principle in both medical and dental use: administering more oxygen to cells to combat pathogens and boost cell repair. Since aggressive microorganisms in the body cannot tolerate high levels of oxygen, a significant stream of pure oxygen can destroy the pathogens and protect cells from further damage while also aiding in its recuperation. Advocates of minimally invasive or non-invasive and non-toxic treatments will find ozone therapy as the perfect alternative to chemicals and intrusive procedures usually dispensed by orthodox medicine. The oral cavity is a delicate miniature system and a slight increase in bacteria can disrupt its balance, causing oral health problems. Ozone therapy corrects this by targeting harmful bacteria but without the use of intrusive procedures and without leaving toxic traces. Ozone therapy is already being utilized in countries such as Germany, Cuba and Russia, but much of the international community is still in the dark about its benefits. Recently, a group of ozone therapy supporters visited the Philippines and endorsed its use. Safe and practical, the country and our citizens can benefit from knowing more about this technology.

5 gold stars is an understatement. He deserves so much more! I saw Dr. A J. Boyajian, DMD at the Westchester office. He was extremely helpful, listened to my concerns, and addressed all of them. Took xrays, ct scan, found a fracture and infection in one of my molars. I went in to have this tooth extracted and during surgery he made me feel extremely comfortable. I can't wait until I go back for my implant. I will refer everyone I know to Dr. A J. Boyajian.

Hey Beverly Hills Cosmetic Dental I have not forgot about you! Place is terrible and unethical! I went there for a teeth cleaning like i did in the past and they insisted that my teeth needed much more and tried to up sell me some BS. I was told they wont clean my insured teeth unless I pay more to have my gums cleaned too...Isn't it the same??? I was looking forward to this appointment 2 days before I moved to Europe and had no time to go somewhere else but still walked out the door and blessed this place. Well, my dentist here has informed me what I already knew that my teeth are very strong and healthy... Unbelievable!
