DPD Smiles - Pediatric dentist in Wheaton, IL

Wheaton pediatric dentist Dr. Joshi is a super passionate pediatric dental specialist. While we can list her academic qualifications, we want to make sure you feel comfortable with her background and training. Here you can get a brief glimpse into who this dentist / artist / philanthropist is. She is thrilled to meet you!

We are located in a beautiful single story gray building near the corner of S. President Street and Roosevelt Road in Wheaton. We are conveniently located between Dunkin Donuts and Papa Johns. We have our own parking lot for your convenience.

Laser dentistry utilizes precise laser energy to perform a wide range of dental procedures with more efficiency and less pain. Its been approved by the FDA for more than 20 years, and in that time, dental lasers have become more advanced than ever before. Laser dentistry is safe and effective for kids, teens and adults!

The BIOLASE laser often eliminates the need for needles, drills, and sutures. Instead, it offers a safe and gentle alternative to traditional dental tools by combining water, air, and laser energy. We love using this laser dentistry tool to help your child have a positive, rewarding dental experience. Parents ask us all the time if we can use it on them!

Normally, filling a cavity with a tooth-colored filling requires a needle to insert a numbing agent into the area and a drill to remove the decayed portion of the tooth. But thats not a very comfortable process for young children!

Thats why our team fills cavities using laser dentistry instead. This gentle way to remove cavities uses laser energy and the spray of water to remove decay without the heat, vibration, noise, or pressure caused by dental drills. Shots to numb the area are typically not needed either. Its kids cavity repair with no shots, no drills, and no pain!

If your teenager wants whiter teeth, a take-home whitening kit from the drug store isnt the best option. Theyre known to burn the gums, trigger sensitivity of tooth enamel, and deliver inconsistent, short-lived results. Here at DPD Smiles, we offer Epic laser teeth whitening to help the teeth appear 6-12 shades lighter with less than 20 minutes of gel-to-tooth contact time.

Cold sores, also known as fever blisters, are small groups of blisters that develop on the lip or around the mouth. Since theyre triggered by a virus, cold sores can spread through touch, shared utensils, and kissing. If you suffer from cold sores, you know how frustrating and embarrassing these outbreaks can be. Laser therapy offers a fast, efficient way to help prevent and treat cold sores with rapid healing time.

Laser energy destroys the virus causing cold sores to provide immediate relief. You can receive painless cold sore laser therapy as soon as that trademark tingling begins to signal an oncoming cold sore. Laser cold sore treatment will drastically reduce the duration of the outbreak if you call as soon as you feel this tingling. Treatment only takes a few minutes and doesnt require any anesthesia! For Wheaton cold sore treatment, contact us right away.

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) connects your childs jaw to their temporal bone. Healthy TMJs allow the jaw to move up, down, and side to side as your child yawns, chews, talks, and smiles. However, the TMJ is known to experience injury or dysfunction that results in serious pain.

If your child is experiencing TMJ pain, call DPD Smiles for TMJ laser therapy. Research shows that laser therapy can significantly reduce TMJ pain and improve joint function. It's a safe, painless procedure that produces a warming sensation over the affected TMJ tissues. By reducing inflammation and increasing blood flow, laser therapy offers a non-invasive TMJ pain treatment with no negative side effects.

A frenectomy is a simple procedure that removes or reduces connective tissue (frenum) from under the tongue or upper gums. It sounds painful, but thanks to cutting-edge dental technology, a frenectomy has never been easier.

If your child is born with lip-tie or tongue-tie, come to our office for a bladeless, sutureless, painless treatment solution. Using the Waterlase laser that combines light energy with water, Dr. Joshi can expertly eliminate the tissue causing a lip-tie or tongue-tie. We promise a gentle, stress-free experience that makes it possible for your child to eat, talk, and drink without any difficulty.

Gingival exposure is simply a fancy way to describe the process of removing extra gum tissue. If your child has a gummy smile or needs to prepare for orthodontic treatment, we use gentle laser therapy to trim away the gum tissue. This is a painless process that doesnt cause bleeding, swelling, or trauma to the mouth.

Dr. Joshi is a native of Cary, North Carolina, raised with a good balance of both Eastern and Western cultures. This has helped her hone her skills, recognize cultural approaches to health care and provide personalized dental care for her patients. She has a large, loud and fun family that she considers her 'village' and foundation. She is very family-oriented and aims to make DPD Smiles feel like family!

Since Dr. Joshi took over leadership of DuPage Pediatric Dentistry and rebranded to DPD Smiles, she has not only grown her dental home from a pediatric practice to a multi-specialty group, but also grown her family. Only a year after being married, Dr. Joshi joined the local community and turned this practice into a family run organization. Wanting a personal touch, she and her husband have spent countless hours going above and beyond to offer exceptional care for her patients and families. While doing all that, she managed to find time to grow her own family. Dr. Joshi and Ajay are now proud parents of an adorable baby boy, Sahil, and therapy dogs, Saya and Vani! In her free time, Dr. Joshi loves spending time in the outdoors, dancing, playing card and board games and traveling.

In short, it is needless to say based on personality but moreover affirmed that Dr. Joshi simply enjoys making people smile and giving them the confidence to smile freely! Her favorite part of each day is having her patients leave the clinic just as happy (if not more) as they came in. She enjoys working with kids, being goofy and silly with them, and of course hearing all the fun and interesting topics they have to share. Her patients area always teaching her a new way to view the world, which allows her to grow individually and expand her passion for clinical excellence. This motivation 'don 't stop won 't stop' is why coming in to the clinic is not a job but rather a way of life. She lives by the saying, don 't stop won 't stop!

We came to DPD smiles for a second opinion and I am so happy we did. Dr. Joshi is very knowledgeable, patient, kind, takes the time to thoroughly answer ALL my questions. She is great with all my kids from my youngest 1 year old to my oldest. The office is bright and clean and my kids feel comfortable, which is most important! I highly recommend DPD smiles for your home dentist. Its not a close drive for us but its worth it for the care and peace of mind we receive.

I had an appointment at 1:30pm and I got there at 1:20. A family of three came in after me and my kiddo around 1:25. So we both clearly had appointments for 1:30. The family of three was called back before us. I decided to cancel the appointment while in the office waiting. I had a 1 year old who can't sit too long. I hate to say it but I believe they went before us because the color of our skin. Sad!

I'm a first time mom who desperately needed to know if my son had any mouth ties. They were able to get me in the next morning and diagnose him, give me all the options and also refer me to a facial physical therapist. I have so much relief now knowing next steps. They're kind, knowledgeable, and very easy to work with.

We spent 2 years taking our daughter to dentist after dentist only to be referred to different offices. By the time we were referred to DPD her teeth and her trust for dentists had both deteriorated. They fixed her whole mouth in 1 hour while she was under sedation. Dr. Janik and the anesthesia nurses were amazing and made me feel really comfortable about something that has been stressing me out for weeks. It was not cheap but it was 100% worth every cent to have my baby in such good hands.

Sitting in the waiting room while I write this review. This is our 3rd visit in 1 month. I find this place very awkward and unfriendly. Where do I start...you need to check-in from your car, don't just walk in, if you do the office manager will not acknowledge you. It's really awkward to stand at the desk and have him deliberately not look at you for a few minutes, then when he does he just points and says "go sit there." Doesn't say hi, doesn't ask your name, etc. Bring your own masks or they'll tell you to reschedule your appointment (with a fee). Remove your shoes to enter the building for sanitary reasons (yet they have dogs running around?). I find their practices a bit sneaky. They immediately gave my son nitrous for sealants without asking me, odd. He was squirming because he didn't like the mask over his nose. I asked them to remove it, the tech told me my son was too squirmy to NOT have nitrous. I assure her he's has plenty of work done without and he just doesn't like the gas mask over his nose. She reluctantly agreed to take it off, he was totally fine for the rest of his visit. Can't wait to see the bill for the laughing gas! 3rd visit was for a filling, the dentist was going to use some fancy laser instead of a traditional filling. She mentioned it casually like there wasn't an option. I asked if it was covered by insurance and she told me NO! Give me an option, fine. But to assume that's what I want to pay for it without asking is not ok! I asked for a traditional filling as those are covered by our insurance. Based on the way the quick conversation about it went I would guess a lot of people don't know this is optional and NOT covered by most insurances. Sneaky, sneaky. Now to the office manager. He asked for insurance information before our visit, I emailed it. We had our visit. I then get an email saying that our insurance says my son isn't covered (not true), I send same insurance information again. I get another email saying they've submitted the claim twice and my son is not covered and that I owe for the whole visit out of pocket. The email had a snotty tone and literally said "you may be active but your son is not." I spend 20 minutes on the phone with my insurance who tells me that not only is my son covered but THEY'VE ALREADY SUBMITTED PAYMENT TO DPD! I email again the SAME information I've sent 3 times now and they finally say "oops, you're right, we've been paid." I spent way too much of my free time dealing with their office and my insurance that was completely unnecessary since the information I originally sent was correct. We only came her because we need a pediatric dds for a problem. Can't wait to get back to our normal dentist who lets us wear shoes and doesn't act so shady and rude.

Website if full of lies, says free consult for orthodontics or oral surgery which my daughter needs, they lied and said the website only says free ortho....Businesses should honor what they advertise!

We went to DPD Smiles for a second opinion and consultation on our Daughters teeth. They were very patient, informative, and knowledgeable. They explained things clearly and offered many options for our daughter's care at a fraction of the cost that the other Dentist quoted us. We are very happy with their service and we know our Daughter is in good hands. Thank you so much for helping us to breathe a little easier today.

I came here with my 5 year old on a referral that our primary couldn't do. Had no idea what a pediatric dentist was - this place is amazing. It's designed for kids. Thoughtful approaches, furniture, dental tools, etc. My son was not at all anxious. Way easier than I anticipated.

Absolutely love this place! We don't live close, but it is worth the drive. Their hygienists are wonderful and so sweet to the kids. The dentists are fantastic, knowledgeable and thorough. There are movies in the waiting room, kids music in the actual rooms, and fun treats after the visit. And did I mention the dogs?!? So great! Highly recommend.

The policy of removing the shoes at the front keeps everything looking nice and clean. Dr. Joshi is excellent with kids and giving detailed instructions before and after the procedures. I have not seen any doctor office this cleaned. I would definitely recommend to my family and friends.

We love DPD smiles. The staff has always been helpful and friendly. They are great to my special needs child who does not handle people touching their face and mouth. They always do their best to be gentle and attentive and make everyone comfortable. The office is always very clean.

We have always been pleased with DPD smiles, but Dr. Joshi went above and beyond for us when we had a dental emergency while on vacation. My son feels so comfortable with her and I am very grateful.

We have seen Dr. Joshi for almost 4 years. They have made our son comfortable and at ease from the age of 2. We have no dental fear or anxiety thanks to the office staff at DPD Smiles.

The office manager is unfriendly and unprofessional and has poor communication skills. I had appointments rebooked without my knowledge only to be told that I should have read the automated texts they sent. I do not agree with rescheduling someone's appointments for them. The expectation is you 1. Read the automated text which doesn't even specify that you have been rebooked or that the appointment was canceled. It just says, "reminder x day is your appointment." It's very confusing. I skimmed the texts assuming it was reminding me of my appointment I scheduled. Why would I cross check the date? If you are going to cancel my appointment you should specify that it was canceled and I've been rebooked with a new appointment date and time. Then 2. If the appointment doesn't work now it's on you, the patient, to be inconvenienced and call back/email to reschedule the appointment. They should call or email notifying you that the appointment is canceled, and ask when you want to reschedule, not just send a new appointment date. It's incredibly rude and disrespectful of my time. When I've emailed to book an appointment and given possible dates and time windows available he just picked a date and time and booked me without confirming first. Overall the communication is very poor. I stayed because of insurance but luckily another provider is available so I am switching. I've had fine experiences with the dentists and hygienists but nothing outstanding that would make me want to stay if I'm dealing with the office manager. edited to add: Funny how they respond pretending not to know me. Completely unprofessional and take no accountability for their actions.
