Dr. Tony Dioguardi graduated magna cum laude from SUNY at Buffalo in 1979. He received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from UCONN Health Center School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1983, receiving honors in the field of Oral Pathology. He completed his general practice dental residency at the West Haven V.A. Hospital, receiving emergency care training through the Hospital of Saint Raphael Department of Oral Surgery. He served in the capacity of Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Yale-New Haven Hospital Department of Dentistry, and has lectured on management of dental emergencies.
Dr. Dioguardi has received extensive postdoctoral training in cosmetic, restorative, implant and reconstructive dentistry. He believes that optimal results are achieved through the team approach, and regularly works closely with dental specialists.
In 2016, Dr. Dioguardi established the Yale-New Haven Hospital Department of Dentistrys lecture series in Dental Sleep Medicine, one of the first of it's kind in the country. He has attended in the Department of Restorative Dentistry as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery and has lectured on management of dental emergencies.
Dr. Dioguardi is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM)1. The ABDSM is the board for the leading national organization of dentists who treat snoring and obstructive sleep apnea with oral appliance therapy, an effective alternative treatment to commonly used CPAP machines. Earning Diplomate status from the ABDSM is a unique honor that recognizes special competency in dental sleep medicine. Dental Sleep Medicineis not recognized as a specialty area by the American Dental Association.
As an active participant with Yale Universitys Sleep Medicine post-doctorate fellowship program2 since 2011 he provides clinical and academic instruction in the dental treatment of sleep disordered breathing. He regularly gives lectures to the Yale University Department of Sleep Medicine and the Connecticut State Sleep Conference on the subject of dental sleep medicine.
In March, 2016, Dr. Dioguardi was named to the editorial advisory board ofSleep Review, a leading publication for sleep specialists.His association memberships include American Dental Association, Connecticut Dental Association, the New Haven Dental Association, the National Sleep Foundation and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. He has been named one of the top 100 dentists in CT Magazine and was listed in the topDentist issue of New Haven Living Magazine. His cosmetic dentistry has been featured in Cosmedent Magazine.
Our practice was the first in Connecticut to receive facility accreditation from the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM). Accredited facilities represent a small and an elite group of centers around the nation recognized for proficiency, professionalism and procedural excellence regarding the treatment of patients with sleep apnea and sleep-disordered breathing.
In order to become accredited, facilities must meet stringent quality measures outlined in the AADSMs Standards for Accreditation of Dental Sleep Medicine Facilities. These standards detail expectations for the proficiency of a facilitys dental director and staff; practice of policies and procedures to oversee the acceptance, documentation and billing of patients; and professionalism of consumer care, follow-up ,service and safety.

Could not be happier. Mouthpiece works amazingly well. No loud noisy masks and Dr D and his staff could not be more supportive. Highly recommend if you want an option to wearing a CPAP mask and it really works.

Excellent experience. Was fitted for an oral device for sleep apnea to replace CPAP machine. Recent Yale sleep study indicates my device is working VERY well. Dr. D and his whole staff have made the process easy and best of all are alway accessible for questions. Highly recommend this practice.

His Sleep Apnea device is the BEST. If you have any second thoughts about whether this works, let me tell you: IT WILL. Dr. Dioguardi knows his stuff and he's a great guy to talk to. Answers ALL of the questions. I felt completely comfortable with the process (even during the pandemic). The first night with my super cool, blue and red device, I slept all the way through the night without gasping, gagging, or snoring. I woke up at 7 in disbelief until I turned to look at my husband who was grinning ear-to-ear because I hadn't kept him awake. I finally have my energy back and am sleeping well again. For me, this has been a home run.

I have sleep apnea and wasn't able to use a sleep machine. I was referred to Dr. Dioguardi for a dental appliance. His staff is very friendly and accommodating. Dr. Dioguardi's has a vast knowledge of dentistry combined with his passion to seek alternatives for those of us who can't use the CPAP machine. I have only had my dental mouthpiece for a short time but I sleep soundly every single night. This has changed my life. It's amazing how different you feel when you sleep 8 plus hours every night. I highly recommend a dental appliance for sleep apnea.

I recently obtained a dental device from Dr. Dioguardi for my sleep apnea and it has made a world of difference! The device is a little awkward at first, but you get used to it. And it is a worthwhile trade for a good night's sleep. I now wake up every morning feeling rested and refreshed. I wish I got this device years ago.

They send you to other places to do extractions and other things .Plus they are very very over price it for the work that they do, last year they did one quadrant cleaning and she( assistant I guess)make me feel embarrassing because She was complaining all the time about my hygienic condition. I am 52 and I don't have any prosthetic just 2 cavity fix and I have miss only two 2nd.premolars, means that I take care my mouth . The place have old equipment like from W.W.2, however He is a nice Doctor to diagnose (that why one star) but at the end, you feel like when you go to a dealer ship and they shake your hand and give you nice smile, but you know inside that you had been happily rip off. Just try and you' ll see. Good bye Dioguardi. and who read this please help with Google review, will help our community and remember you are part of it.

I'm in so much gratitude to Tony's abilities as a healer and his innate abilities that make him not only an excellent dentist, but someone I can close my eyes and put my entire faith in when I'm in that chair. Dentist visits previously was something I absolutely dreaded. I've never experienced that trust before with any doctor. I've been seeing Dr. Dioguardi for a number of years now and each visit is always pleasant and professional. Dr. Dioguardi is very attentive to detail and makes sure you are well taken care of, comfortable, and that and the procedure goes seamlessly and perfect. His staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, and he's even been flexible enough to fit me into his busy schedule at last minute on a number of occasions. When I was younger I chipped my tooth on my trampoline. My parents rushed me to my dentist at the time in order to get it fixed. Unfortunately that doctor didn't do the best job and for many years I had to live with a grey front tooth that was quite noticeable and made me self conscious. Just recently Dr. Dioguardi was able to perform an incredible procedure in order to fix this grey tooth. Not only was he able to completely remove the grey that was left from the dead tooth but also create a new one that perfectly matches my other front tooth. And he did all of this without having to resort to expensive crowns. I am now able to smile with complete confidence, and even many months later it still looks amazing and it will continue to for many years. Dr. Dioguardi is a true expert at his craft and will make sure you go home happy and with an incredible smile.
